I finished! Japanese input/display for Titan is complete by OEM package for dcd ROMs!

I use for 3.0.1 ROM, just extract OEM and SYS folder to your kitchen, allow it to overwrite
wince.nls and you are ready!


Retains ALL original fonts for interface like CE Star.
Includes new font, Meiryo - Japanese CLEARTYPE font.
Minimal RAM usage by reduce number .dll files installed by SIP.


Bugs -> this thread, and I will address.

Update:

Here some screenshots by show you how to use. Also, I add DisableEN.cab from Asukal. It will let
you reduce your number of SIP to just the 4 that I have, which will lower the memory usage on your
phone since your phone won't have to load maybe 10 SIP.

This panel lets you choose between English or Japanese text input. If you want to use hardware
keyboard, just pop open SIP and choose which input you would like to use.

For English input select default　(it's highlighted in 1st pic): 英数 EISUU, means ASCII Encoding
For Japanese input hiragana/kanji select top option: かな KANA
For Japanese input katakana select middle option: カナ KANA (You don't need to do this unless
you have a great many katakana words to input and you want to save time!)

The second text that's selected says: 半角 HANKAKU, means "half width" -- Japanese characters
use a combination of 2 english characters encoded together to get all the extended characters.
So, it makes a full width. If you turn HANKAKU off for English, your text will get HUGE, and only
those who have JP support can read it even though it is in English. So, make sure if you type
in English text, your Romaji SIP looks like Picture 1 :-)

Now, I only have 4 SIP. Keyboard (Default English), Kensaku (Japanese/English "block recognizer"),
Romaji (Japanese/English Keyboard for Roman letters and Japanese), and Phone Pad, which is HTC's
phone pad from long time ago. New phone pad xT9 won't work because of a conflict about SIP.
Fewer SIP is less memory consumption. You can lower your SIP number by cab file in this post,
DisableEN.cab.

Also, I have added EnableEN.cab to add SIP back in case you don't like not having other SIP
available. This way, it won't hurt to try! Make a soft reset if you install DisableEN.cab and do
not use uninstall for that cab. Install EnableEN.cab to get back your SIP, but make a soft
reset after installing that, too.

I add dictionary program to this post for Japanese. It's in English instead of Japanese by mui
patch file, and it's ready for dictionaries to be loaded on your memory card.

Yes, this will allow you input by Japanese language text. It have Meiryo and MS Gothic font for PPC and Meiryo is default because it have cleartype ability. This is OEM, so please cook it in a ROM :)

Very nice program. Love how you type the romaji sound, and it translates it into hiragana/katakana symbol.

One thing that I noticed is that if you start typing in the Romaji keyboard and translate a few characters, and then switch to the regular keyboard, the input will keep translating the characters into symbols when I wanted regular American characters. Also, some of the other symbols get messed, especially the back slashes being replaced by the Yen symbol in other parts of the program, namely Touch Flo and selecting programs for gestures.

Backslash does not exist when you install Japanese, so that's one problem that I can't fix right now, I think. The backslash in program paths won't affect the program. It will still run, just looks different.

Don't use regular keyboard with this, just change it between full width kana to half width English input on the Romaji input SIP. (Assuming you want to use hardware keyboard.)

Also, if you need trailing N sound like in SUMIMASEN, press the N key twice at the end to make it change to Hiragana N sound like this: SUMIMASENN
Same for in the middle of words like, "KONNICHIHA" instead of "KONICHIWA" to get correct word input :)

Very nice. I see. Still not very good with kanji and didn't realize that the kanji below kana was for the english letters. Very slick program. Really enjoying it.

I keep wanting to spell out each letter and really need to spell everything out like it sounds in romaji for hiragana. Ex. Juu (instead of ji yu u).

With katakana, I am using the dash for long vowel sounds. Just want to make sure that is right. I was trying to spell out koohii and was getting ko o hi i (ended up using ko-hi-).

I was trying the kanji out, and figured the icon in the lower right corner under the return button translated a highlighted word. But I know very little kanji, so this will come in useful for practice.

So I guess that if I send a text message in hiragana/katakana, the other person will just recieve gibberish if they don't have this?

If you send SMS message to someone with Japanese text, they will receive 'jibberish' if they are on your network - like verizon to verizon, but if you are sprint and send message to verizon or like, at&t, message won't even go through. But, if both parties have cook a rom with this in it, and both parties have same carrier like Verizon to Verizon, you can send Japanese messages like that, no problem.

If you type a word in romaji, you will notice it stays underlined until you press enter. So, use hardware keyboard to type out a word like... MUZUKASHII - I-Adjective, means difficult, then press SPACE BAR, and it will convert to kanji. Press space again after convert and you will get special menu options. Type KIGOU and press space twice and you will get 135 new symbols include greek letters.

In katakana, you use dash for vowels like coffee, KO-HI-, but you enter consonant twice like double click, DABURUKURIKKU. Complicated but here is another... NYU-TEKUNOROJI- means New Technology lol.

Also, by default, I remove the transcriber from my ROMs, and it looks like your Disable/Enable cab include it. I just modified my registry using the values you had there. Thanks for that. Now I only have Kensaku, Keyboard, and Romaji SIPs.

One thing I did notice is that when you bring up the selection screen and click on options for Romaji, then click the options button, it brings you to a screen all in Japanese characters and everything changes to Japanese. Yes, it works well. Even Japanese don't know all kanji, so I use it to 'draw' in kanji I don't know to my dictionary. Then I can get meaning instantly! If you are interested, I can maybe upload my 7 million word Windows Mobile English <-> Japanese bidirectional dictionary.

It's just that if you do this, you will display English text, but others will receive 'jibberish' since they may look like English characters but they aren't! They're actually Japanese encoded English, and that doesn't work well for SMS! Email is fine though, as long as their PC can understand the encoding!

Well, sometimes it doesn't like to overwrite that file, so I do it manually. All you should have to do is bake a ROM using the OEM "as-is" and the wince.nls. Let me know if you keep having problems and I'll upload a whole kitchen later if so.

Well, sometimes it doesn't like to overwrite that file, so I do it manually. No, in the kitchen I had removed both removed the original ..\SYS\WinCENLS_WWE directory and then copied your modified over as well as remove that directory and add the modifed wince.nls and its associated *.dms (key changed to match your OEM) to the OEM (my kitchen's goal is to give the option to retain stock settings so the old *.nls was provided into its own OEM). Neither were successful in getting the new SIPs active on the WM 6 kitchen. On both occasions I confirmed that all of the modified files (and not the old wince.nls) were used in the build.

I was a bit rushed and need my phone active for the rest of today. Later I may try from scratch again in case a fluke error was made.Let me know if you keep having problems and I'll upload a whole kitchen later if so.There is no great need for that with WM 6 kitchens already existing:

Your OEM and the modifcations could work, but as you said this was working on DCD 3.x.x kitchens, has anyone tried to get the Japanese SIPs working on a WM 6 build?

A translation of the keys would probably help others with this as well. Although, if you're using Japanese input/display, you might not need to.

Kensaku, the ? brings up a note in Japanese as well. Finally found the space. Just had to actually read. Kensaku will recognize english alphabet as well, you just have to be more precise.

Is there a way to have the program just choose what it thinks is a match to your writing, as opposed to having to manually select the character?

I see, same issue here, too. But, when I reupload the file it tell me that I can't upload a file already uploaded and then it gives me the original link, even if I change the name of the file or use another computer.

This is great, but sadly for me is the wrong language (at least at the moment) :(. I've been trying to figure out how to get korean to work for awhile and have given up. I did find input software that works, and fonts work, but the fonts only work in some programs like esword, not in mail and web pages or my dictionary program, so even though input "works", what I input comes out as the usual squares. I've played with all the registry font settings and copying in .ttf and .tff files and yada yada. I guess this can't be too different from Japanese so maybe someone here can tell me the magic trick to make it work. Thanks.
