Hi Friends:

I'm trying to enable the GPS for my SPRINT HTC MOGUL PPC-6800...let me give you the GPS-Settings

Start/Settings/System/External GPS
- Programs: COM4
- Hardware: (None) & 4800
- Access: Manage GPS automatically (recommended) option is checked

Start/Settings/Personal/Phone/Services/Location Setting is set to "ON"

I'm doing the following:

1. Make sure data connection is active and start QuickGPS. There's a time at the bottom that tells you how long the data is active for. I download the data over and over until it says 7 days at the bottom. Once it says 7 days I exit QuickGPS. I then go into task manager and make sure QuickGPS is stopped.

2. I open Holux GPS Viewer and make sure it's set to Com 4/4800 baud, and then open the gps. Immediately after opening I check the WAAS checkbox and immediately after checking the box, I click Cold Start. I then minimize GPS Viewer (I do not close it in task manager).

3. I open Google Maps and run it normally. For Google Maps I click Use GPS and I get Seeking GPS satellites (0)... with one point in the middle of the screen...for 15 or 30 minutes...and nothing change...the GPS isn't enabled

Can you help me?

Thanks

Why are you using these gps launchers before google maps? Google maps always gets gps by itself on my phone... either way when you check use gps it should acquire. How long are you waiting? Where are you when doing this(inside/outside)? What rom are you running? I would soft reset then go to google maps and try without the launchers/primers. Besides that sounds like you should be good but i think some users reported bad chips in the handset, might be that.

Hi thakidc:

Thanks for your reply...let me give you my answers:

Why are you using these gps launchers before google maps?...Google Maps works great with my 3G-Internet connection and I read that QuickGPS & Holux GPS Viewer help to enable the GPS

How long are you waiting?...for 15 or 30 minutes...and nothing change...the GPS isn't enabled

Where are you when doing this(inside/outside)? inside in my office

What rom are you running? ROM version: dcd 3.0.1

Let me try "outside" and run Google Maps without launchers/primers

Thanks

No problem your building must be pretty solid to block the signal or you in the middle or sumthin

I had a quick question, I don't have a problem getting a signal outside. But I find in some vehicles that I get in no matter how long i leave GPS running it can't get a lock on any sattelites. Has anyone had this problem before?

ROM: DCD 3.0.1
Software: Garmin Mobile XT or TomTom

That does sound wierd, r u in a armored truck or sumthin. If your moving try stopping, roll a window down or uh.. hold your phone out it. Good luck

No problem your building must be pretty solid to block the signal or you in the middle or sumthinNo, we've found that not all Titans are equal and some, sadly, have rather poor satellite reception.

The GPS hardware discrepancies certainly do exist (a few members have tested identical software setups on multiple units at the same time and location) and it's just a luck of the draw as to what you have.
