Hello all.
I am such a beginner at this... please help.

I have a Tilt that I successfully unlocked - I think - and then flashed it with Duttys_WM6.1_ Official_5.2.19209 (Thank you :). Everything is working, WI-FI, GPS if I am in the AT&T area (Detroit), I also tried it with a T-Mobile SIM and it works. I bought a "pay as you go" SIM and I activated it and again, it works :)

My problem: I live in Windsor Ontario and my SIM has a Detroit Michigan #. If I am close to the border - say 5-6 km - the phone works. Beyond that it has no signal. Isn't this supposed to be roaming or something? Is it the pay as you go? Or is it the phone itself, ROM or something else? When the SIM was not activated it was also saying "no service" even in Detroit but I assume that was normal.

When I do not get signal, the QuickGPS and the GPS Test does not get anything even if WIFI is active and internet is working. Is this normal also?

Thank you, Adrian

GPS is not dependent on cellular technology, it is only dependent on GPS satellites that transmit signals all over the world, regardless of your wireless provider, or whether you have WIFI or not.

Thanks. On the QuickGPS page it mentions GPRS, that is why I assumed it needs service to work. I hope I will understand how to program this better in time. All I know is if I can use the phone i.e. I have phone service then everything works, GPS included. If not, not.

Also, please guys, if you have any idea about the first part of my questions... Thanks

Pay as you go SIM normally have a reduced coverage area compared to their pre-paid counterparts. Also if its a US pay as you go SIM there is a good possibility it won't work internationally from what I've seen of them in the past.
