hi all!

ever since i got my vox ive been experiencing problems like this.
it only happens sometime and its difficult to reproduce. but problem is as follow..
people send me sms's (sometimes quite alot) and on their phone it just say pending. then if they phone me or just give me a miss call i recieve all the smses at once. but sometimes even when they try to phone me it goes to voice mail. my phone always have full signal during all of this. most of the time im experiencing this problem is when im using my phone as a gprs modem for my pc. i need to know if i should take the phone back or what? but how can i proof ive got this problem? i even updated phone to latest radio and still got problem. any help or suggestions pse!

What Radio versions do you have? If older upgrade to 4.1.13.54_03.10.90 (ftp://xda:xda@ftp.xda-developers.com/Uploads/Smartphone/Vox/Radios/Radio%204.1.13.54_03.10.90.exe)

I was on version 4.1.13.54_03.10.90 for some time
but i found the earlier version to be more stable.
just a personal experience.
but i guess i'll give 4.1.13.54_03.10.90 a second shot.

thanx i found ur link on another thread some time ago and i upgraded my radio. but its been 2weeks now and no improvement. my previous radio was something like x.x.34_xx.xx.xx or so. but yes, i do however think that i get better signal. cos on old radio when phone was on my desk it was 90% signal acording to the signal icon on home screen. now its 100. another thing about vox is when u type with qwerty ur hand blocks the antenna weakning the signal. kinda stupid as in most phone manuals they say u shouldnt put ur hand over the antenna area while in call or sms. haha!
but pse any ideas r welcome! im gonna use my sim in another phone for a bit to see if problem is with my sim or phone

Damn.
I have the same problem, most boring one.
Time after time, the phone stops receiving phone calls (line busy if you are calling me, I cant call because the green button doesn't do anything if i press it after I type the number or choose the contact) and some other times SMS messages. I keep the Vox close to my speakers and they make the sound like when you are receiving call/sms (can't describe it, but i think you get me) but nothing happens. And after 2 hours people call me and complain why I didn't reply to their SMS...

If someone finds what is the problem and solution to it I will be thankfull to him/her untill my Vox is alive.

Many options with new ROMs are great thing. But if the SP doesn't do it primary duty (make & receive calls and SMS messages) it's worthless.

I have it tested with 3 ROMs and the problem apeared with every one and each of them.
The default one, don't know the version. The radio was earlier version than 4.1.13.54_03.10.90.
Then I tryed 6.1 v1.0a of Dr. Gonzo.
And now I have for 3 days the 6.1 v1.1. At least once I noticed that problem with this, latest, version.

i dont think u got exactly the same problem. cos whenever im not receiving sms or calls for a while then when i make a call or send a sms all my msgs deliver to me at one time. so what im trying to say is that i am indeed able 2 make calls all the time. i think ur problem mite b caused by a 3rd party app on ur phone? btw i had my problem with original rom, guava rom, 6.1a and im downloading 6.1 v1.1 now. but i can tell u its gonna b the same. its not a rom based issue.

what radio version and rom are u using? any 3rd party apps that mite interfere with ur call button etc?

PLEASE people lets all give our radio version and rom versions etc so we can pinpoint this problem. it seems that quite a few people are actually experiencing this problem and they dont even realise it.

it does seem that the vox gets in a type of a bottleneck with sms and calls. all ur smses gets jammed and then as soon as i send a sms it blasts open the jam and lets my sms's thru. no point in talking to service provider customer care as they are all idiots

Same problem for me even with the last version of the radio...
I had the same problem with the original rom after installing native voip but no problem with hard reboot without installing native voip on the original rom.

On this morning, I made a hard reboot and didn't install my voip settings only to see...
I will let u know if there are some changes...

no route 66 wont interfere. i was thinking more along the lines of smart toolkit etc. it does seem like u got same problem. im read on another thread that the arabic version radio mite be better. so go check on the vox wiki and test the arabic radio. its the second newest version. im gonna try it 2. wil let u know

i never used voip before. but i do however notice if i use my phone as a gprs modem for an hour or so, then i usually send a sms to my gd and all her smses deliver at the same time. now, seeing as voip uses the gprs connection 2. it does seem that the problem is related to gprs being used. my guess is that it has to do with the fact that when u are using ur gprs and someone phones or sms u thru gsm connection ur gprs is supposed to cut out, a gsm connection gets esstablished, and when the connection terminates, ur gprs connection re connects again. now we need to find out if this happens with other devices using voip. and please test it with ur devices also. (while connected with gprs and using voip see if sms deliver to u)

nope! no luck. i just disconnected from my internet sharing app. i send a sms, and 3 smses delivered to me that should have came thru 30mins ago! damn. gonna try another radio now. if this doesnt work i tried all the radio versions on the wiki. and i honestly dont know how to fix the problem.

anyone know what the difference is between chap and pap authentication in gprs settings? and in csd line type settings.. should it b transparent or not transparent. any one can tell me the difference and if this could probably make a difference?

lastly, can i ask if anyone that is certain they not experiencing this problem can maybe tell me what their csd line settings are?

I had the same problem and I have changed the mobile operater, im my country there are 3, and with the new one I don't have this kind of problems any more. It seems that HTC have problems with some base stations.
The biggest problem is that you have to change your phone number.
First find a SIM card from other operater and try it for few days to see if it solves your problem.

I made hard reset and put inside mobile my old sim crad ... TIM orperator. work well for few days. then changed with my official sim card always TIM oeprator ... and adter few hours cant call cant get sms cant get call ..... cant use as mobile. I think WM 6.1 not yet implemeted well with the VOX even if Dr Gonzo made wonderfull job. Tnks anyway.... i back to WM 6.0.

Not good to have a smartphone that cant be used as phone functions haha

ok so ive been experimenting...

changing radio versions does not solve the problem! but it does however solve one problem...

sometimes on my network at night the gprs service gets a bit busy and even tho u still have the little E in the corner saying ur connected with edge, u are infact not connected. now lets say u try download email, u will try and it will just keep saying conecting but never actually give an error. 2mins later the network will get stable again but ur vox still trying to connect. opera mini etc also wont work cos ur still connected with the old broken connection. phone is supposed to find this problem and refresh connection so u r using new stable connection. but it doesnt. only way to solve is to reboot or to use comm manager, kill conection and conect again. now i found with the latest radio on the wiki it does actually refresh itself! :)

so yes the newest radio is infact better!

but it still doesnt solve our main problem with calls and sms. i know this is definatly not a 6.1 problem cos i had problem with wm6 aswell! but if u decide to go back to 6 and it solves ur problem pse let us know! im gonna start using a different sim as of next week to see if it solves the problem.

Its a inherent problem in vox i guess. I have tried all available ROM's and Radio's. Even did a mix and match thing.
But this problem shows up everytime. I guess until HTC comes out with a new radio addressing these issues it wont help.
Right now I am using Doc's Guava ROM 1.0 (not WM6.1) with the latest radio available and the problem is very negligible now (though it exists but very rarely).

I using the same ROM (WM 6.0) but sometimes still happen that problem.
before upgrade to wm 6.1 i had official HTC rom that i updated insted my original DOPOD rom. with that official rom never had this problem.
But in that roms i always added native VOIP and voip setting from CAB files following how-to online.
Maybe problem is about this native VOIP that is not added as cab file but already integrated?

i honestly dont know anymore. only thing im 90% sure of is that this problem only occurs when ur phone is connected to gprs or edge. so if any one wants to test it. try using no data app to prevent phone from using gprs for a couple of days and report back pse!
im currently using my csd line type settings as transparent and only had problem once!

I do think that integrated VOIP is causing the problem.
I had cooked a ROM(WM 6.0 english) recently with no integrated VOIP and it has been working perfectly. You may want to try that.
The link to it has been added by Doctor Gonzo in New Guava ROM thread at the first post.

today i observed another problem with the vox radio.
today my network service provider was down with no signal for like 5 hours.
My vox was on radio version 4.1.13.54_03.10.90. It started searching for the network and it overheated while doing that. The fully charged battery went flat out in 1 hour searching for the network (which was not there). I could not hold the phone comfortably it was that hot.

I switched the phone module off flashed with Radio version 4.1.13.47_02.98.90 and then switched on the phone module again (the network was still down. battery full charged). My Vox started searching for the network again but it did not overheat. It kept searching the network for like 4 hours no heating and battery was down to just 60%(did not run any application).

So I guess this is a fault with the new radio. You will not face this problem unless your service provider fails but the problem exists.

its similar to flashing the rom except that it does not erase anything. everything remains the same just the radio version changes.

Hi All,
I have a HTC S710 and I have issues with my network. I had an old version of Windows Mobile but now have upgraded to ver 6.1. There still seems to be the problem. It says that the phone is off but when I go into Comm Manager and try to activate the phone is doesnt allow me too. it constantly keeps the flight mode on thus not allowing me to switch on the phone. Any ideas on how I might go about fixing this issue?

People, there is a solutions for this problem ? someone call to HTC to raise the problem ? is posibble to escalate to someone ?

I´m having same problem, and i trie EVERYTHING and same situations, all the rom, radios, firmwares, mttys commands, customs roms, everything...looks like design problem or error...

I´m very dissapointment with this brand....i can´t believe this situation, is a cellular nightmare....

I have the same problem - every other hour or so, the phone stops receiving calls and messages. I discovered that rather than rebooting the phone every time, I just go to comm manager and turn Phone off and on again. Works fine, but I have to put in the pin-code every time...

Still, it's easier than rebooting the device all the time and takes much less time. Are anyone able to make a script of some sort that disables and reenables the phone function at given intervals? And provides the pin when asked? Yeah, less security and it's not a solution, but it would be a useful workaround until the problem is (hopefully) solved...

I've noticed that setting the clock to 180MHz using OMAPclock helps. I've gone from losing connection every two hours to losing it maybe once or twice a day. I may try an even lower setting to see if that helps even more. It sucks though.
