looks good frauhottelmann, looking forward to it. Curious though, i'm a big windows messenger user, would you be able to provide me with a .cab file for it if you do take it out? its the only thing i use a lot that seems like it'll be taken out.
frauhottelmann
18th April 2008, 05:57 PM
I am sorry, I neither have a cab nor will I make one, because it's a lot of work.
For everybody else: I will not provide any cabs!!!

Thats awesome!! Do I need Bluetooth HID to connect my phone with my car speakerphone? Cause I need it!
Irda? Thats strange? Are those driver? Cause Vox dont have ird! No idea!
DotNET, I think there are some apps that needs it but dont know
Anyway thank you!!!!

Java
Any third party apps that are in Dr G's ROM
Sounds great!
I'll just need the exact name of that Java thing from 6.1.1, because i use it quite often.
[/LIST]
Not decided:
Bluetooth HID (for keyboards etc.)
IRDA folder in SYS (for what is that??)
DotNET CF 3.5
DotNET should stay, IMHO.
Still in ROM:
Dr. Gonzo CommManager
Custom Shortcuts (VolUp & VolDown)
Animated Startup and Shutdown Screens (HTC Logo)
Reboot Shortcut
No sound on key press
No system sounds by default
Set Wifi to Best Performance
Hm, those are small and useful ad-ons, i would leave it.
And how about some changes in a default skin?
Fonts are to big by one size, and I'd change sliding panel a bit... (first thing - throwing away "ringtone" and "background" from the "setting" panel. I'm using Regedit just for that, and the skin keeps going back to default (don't know why)...)
And btw - as for this moment - how much free space on device?
frauhottelmann
18th April 2008, 08:39 PM
I haven't flashed it to the Vox yet. For Java, just open your Java and look under About! The default skin would be Slide Panther :D, but the other Standard Skins are included as well! I guess I'll have a look at those setting pages. I saw the corresponding rgu some time ago, so it should be possible!
EDIT:I am just going to leave the stuff in, who nows when a IRDA driver for a device without IRDA is needed and it doesn't need much space!

What's the advantage? Smaller font? Can you install it afterwards?
EDIT: I am charging my Vox right now for a first test! If it works good I will let you beta test tomorrow! I am also thinking about releasing a new kitchen for Wm 6.1 based on Dr. G's ROM,OEM & SYS folders. But I will rewrite the *.bat s for that. So it should be easier to use the new kitchen!
Rolandh
18th April 2008, 09:58 PM
It can be installed afterwards. The panels are slimmed down slightly so they don't take up as much space so allow more panel headings to be seen at once.
If you are interested in including it I'll post the relivent files for you.

Hum, sorry frauhottelmann, i don't understand version of this rom.
You say :
ROM version: 1.34.406.1
1.34.406.1 is lastest HTC's rom based on WM6.0.
Your version of WM6.1 is based on Dr. Gonzo's ROM WM6.1 1.1 ?
(Dr. Gonzo used an emulator image of WM6.1 to make his rom, not an HTC's ROM)
Could you explain me ?
frauhottelmann
19th April 2008, 03:21 PM
Oh, I think that`s what Dr. G's ROM shows. It is based on his ROM.

integrated VOIP causes some problems with calls and sms's i guess.

Is there tgetfile.dll in Lite version?

Oh I am sorry I did not notice it was mentioned there.
Yeah a version without integrated VOIP would be great.

Yes it is in!
What SMS bug??
prajith
19th April 2008, 06:54 PM
Known problems :
* SDcard encryption doesn't work..
* Sometimes when sending an sms in threaded sms view, the last characters stay in the writing box. Doesn't seem to appear with all characters and seem to appear only when the last characters are doubled. For exemple if I write "!!!" at the end of the message, "!" get sent and "!!" stays in the writing box...
I was talking about this.
Is this bug still present in this ROM?

19th April 2008, 08:51 PM
one suggestion, think tornadopowercontrol should be integrated in next version, as it was a easy way to overclock the cpu straight after a rom flash.
prajith
19th April 2008, 08:57 PM
I dont think so.
because the entire purpose of having a lite ROM is to remove all 3rd party & extra applications and leaving that choice to the device user.
Lite ROM should have just the basic things required to run the device. Modification like screens, cursors and .net3.5 are welcome though.
:)
frauhottelmann
19th April 2008, 09:41 PM
No, I am not going to integrate TPC. You can easily install it after the flash.
makaveli86

As for the new release
Have you thought about throwing out media player and IE (this could be an interesting experiment :-p)?
prajith
20th April 2008, 06:43 AM
@makaveli86
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=367337
here you can look at this thread for tornado installation.
you just need to install TPC(in device) dont bother about Omapclock.
The Vox-OC application there is optional. It will help you to set the speed or the overclock. If you intend to use it make sure you install it in device memory.

Mh I don't know what's wrong with it, because I didn't remove anything related to bluetooth. I don't know either when 1.2 will be online. I'll probably make two new versions. One without PIE and WMP for testing and a normal version for the not-so-brave!

I created a new clean rom, if you want to test it, i think that it is "about" the same one as that which you want to do with new the xip.
I had exactly the same problem as you, because of new the xip, than I had to work again (lang problem). I had to extract/edit/rebuild some files in xip, because this xip is chineese build by default.

frauhottelmann - this is easily the best WM6.1 ROM I've used yet! Makes my e650 just glide along :)
I have a small problem though: the battery seems to run down really, really fast with this ROM. At first I thought it was because I was listening to MP3s a lot, but I have done nothing on it the past 24 hours & already it's at 18% battery :/ Have you experienced anything like this? Is it a problem with my usage, or is it possible it could be the ROM?
I don't really want to go back to Gonzo's unless I really can't get this fixed :)
Thanks again for this rom!

That's because Office runs directly from the ROM part of the storage, which is not accessible anyways. So if the software doesn't get copied to let's say program files it doesn't take up space.
