yo. a few Qs:
1. can I flash the rom on this to one of the roms here with WM6.1?
2. using the default rom, I am trying to tether via bluetooth. A am able to tether via usb cable fine. I dont believe there is a bluetooth serial port profile for this verizon version of the vox, is there a way to enable it via the registry?
Thanks

If it is a Vox then it should be possible to flash all ROMs here. You just have to do the USPL! Look around in the forum, you should find all information you need. Also consider the wiki!

there is a registry hack somewhere on the forum for the serial port profile. I'll update this post later when i find it.
Isn't SMT5800 a CDMA device?
All ROMS here are for the GSM version i guess.
But the Docs 6.1 ROM does not have the Radio. So in theory you should be able to flash it, but I am not sure.
You should ask this to any ROM cooker.

Hm if it is CDMA then I don't know about flashing. The problem is that it might need other drivers. We need more information if it uses the same chipset, which I doubt!

It has a faster processor MSM7500 (400 Mhz)
It has a different phone controller than S710.
SMT5800 has Qualcomm MSM7500
S710 has TI TMS320C54x
and it does not have Wi-Fi.

I guess Alphafox you should forget about the flashing!

thanks for the replys guys, I dont think any of the roms here will work as this phone is indeed CDMA.
what I would really like to get to work though is setting up the bluetooth so I can get online from my laptop through the phones data connection. I have the unlimited data and have been able to get it to work via a usb cable. I was reading on here and I guess there is a way to turn that function on but I dont think it works with smartphones? can someone point me in the right direction?

you could try and maybe you could make the hack work.
but i could not make the vox work as bluetooth modem.
internet connection sharing is a huge advantage though.
so is wififofum.

I don't know about your first question but I found this on Verizon's website...
*The VZW SMT5800 supports the Wireless Headset, Handsfree, A2DP, Serial Port Bluetooth Profiles. It does not support all Bluetooth Object Transfer (OBEX) Profiles. See Bluetooth (http://www.verizonwireless.com/b2c/splash/bluetooth.jsp) for details.
Oh and the SMT5800 is NOT a vox, it is a libra
