Thanks for this. It works, but:
- it is not so useful on the touch pro 2 because the ony assignable button is a long press of call button, not very handy... I woud prefer assigning it to "back" button with "attention key".
- I would rather not have to install csdevctrl, because since I installed a WM6.5 Room it does not work at all on Touch Pro 2. Is it possible to have a setup dedicated to the hotkey utility ?
- I would put the defaut time to 1000 ms instead of 3000, for people to try it out.

Hi,
can you try the attached one, i did a change so that the text wraps around.
It is just the main program no setup is included.

This is better. It writes "waiting for hot",which is ok. I guess you can start a specific thread now.For improvement, I would suggest to write other info instead "waiting..." in order to be more efficient: info that would tell which button does what. E.g. when pressing att key, the program would display: vol+ = rotate, win = taskSwitch. Those key names and action names would be entered by the user in the setup prog, pwreferably with a number which would define their display order.

Hi,
i did the changes you mentioned:
- Setup will now allow for Help text and Help order to be entered for each hotkey
- Help Order is unique so if the same number is set to two different keys then the last one will overwrite the other.

Can you try it and let me know if you can see all the text you type (or any other comment)?

A screen shot will really help if it still does not display all of its help contents.

Quick job! But the display does not work for me, capture attached. Also an issue, long press of call key (5b~c1 in setup) acts as the attention key which is set on windows key (5b~). Already in previous version, but I did not notice.

Hi,

I have tried to read throug the 100 page forum but still cant figure out how to really use this program. I love the concept. But seems like it lacks a FAQ on how to use it. How to turn it on, how to set different options, how to unlock it, etc etc. I found bits and pieces from which, I have made this program semi operational, but I know this piece of software can go much further.

If the author wants to work with me, I volunteer to put together a pdf that can go with the zip file that will really cut down on setup time for users.

Ops,
it seems when there are no help text entries the window size is really small.
I will fix it hopefully by the end of this week.

Hi,

I think this is a great app, especially the feature of bluetooth on and off during and after call. However, this is almost unusable for me as it has slowed the Touch Pro (Sprint) to a crawl. The phone starts to ring and after 2-3 rings, I see the caller info and that too in dimmed backlight. Not sure why that is happening or if that is the case by design.

I have tried resetting the registry (deleting) and going with just the standard options, but still the same result. Any thoughts?

Chris,
I am having an issue with WM65 where it does not lock the Titanium screen. It wakes up to the Titanium screen but everything still functions and slides up and down... sometimes. It seems to work properly when the phone boots but after awhile it loses it's ability to lock down Titanium screen. This has been an issue since I switched to wm65 with every build.
Thanks for any help or ideas!

I need to use this program and the ONLY settings I use are "lock when phone wakes" and "unlock with stylus out" but anytime I am in a call, there is this weird menu that pops up over my standard wm6.5 in call menu and i do not like it.

This is a much nicer program than S2U2. Instead of another interface to tell you what is on your today screen, it shows you what is on your today screen by showing you your today screen. I prefer it.

Is there any way to get CSDEVCTRL to prevent an Exchange Server from enforcing security policies? The current 'goody' doesn't prevent an Exchange Server from pushing security policies that prevent unsigned apps from being run...

Such as:

HKLM\Security\Policies\Policies\00001006. (Should be set to '1' in order to allow unsigned apps to run).

There is also a registry key in Policies that prevents unsigned apps from being installed... that would be a nice addition too. I wish I could remember which one it was...

Hi,
this is already available in the settings of windows.
This can be done by going to settings/Personal/Phone/Data/then checking the box next to Disable data Connection GPRS/3G when device enters Sleep mode.

Hi,
i can add them as well, i think i will do it a bit more generic so that you can be controlling the policies.

Hi all,
6.18 is out which includes:

- A new way of updating policies.
A new option 'Policies Options' has been added in the setup program. This screen allows the user to view the current security policies (from HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\Security\Policies\Policies registry key) and their values.
Also after selecting a policy the user can set the value that the policy should always be reset to (Enter the value in the Reset To textbox and then Save). This policy will then be monitored and have its value reset to the defined one.
Monitored policies have the symbol '>' in-front of them.

This option replaces the 'Reset Exchange Server Policy' which has been removed.
The policy number that related to this option, is 00001023 so you may set the Reset To value to 1.
Please be careful with the policies as they can create 'unwanted effects' ...

- A new way for debugging.
If there is a problem, like it does not lock any more etc, please go to the General Options and press the 'Dump All Variables'. It will create the file \csdevdump.txt which may be send to me for review.

- Hotkeys Help Screen
For each hot key defined, a help text can be entered. All help text will be shown in the screen that pops up when the 'Attention' key is pressed.
Together with the text, the order of the help text can be defined so that the text is shown in ascending order.

the only thing checked is lock after device wakes...everything is set to 0

Does it lock when the device is on and the phone starts to ring ?
Or does it lock when the device is off and when the phone starts to ring the device is automatically turned on ?
If it is the second case, then i am afraid the lock is being triggered by the 'lock after wakes' (its 2 events at the same time).
A solution may be to automatically unlock it is waken and the phone is ringing (what do you think ?).

I have the TP2.

I first installed S2U2 but it seemed complicated for me. I then decided to try lockdevice which like this also uses the built in locking system like this but my phone still pocket dials. Lockdevice does not have a feature as far as I know to lock after a certain period of time.

I am wondering if this program will help with the pocket dialing issues...

Also set to 0 any other option that refers to Call.

Can you let me know when it locks:
- Does it lock while the device is on and start to ring ?
- Does it lock if the device is off and then the device is turned on because of a call ?
- Does it lock while the call is ongoing ?

i have this program set to autolock on wake so my phone is always locked when i pull it out of my pocket, is there anyway to make this app sleep my phone when locked say after 10 seconds?, sometimes i will pull my phone out of my pocket feeling it was all hot and notice the screen was on but locked, i'd really like it if it could also put my screen to sleep when it is locked only, when its unlocked i depend on my backlight settings or the manual power button to sleep it/lock it

For anyone feeling 'brave' enough ...,
I have attached the 6.5 release which is supposed to work for both win 6.1 and win 6.5.

The zip file includes only the csdevctrl.exe and works with the 6.18 setup so if you had already installed 6.18 then copy this file anywhere in the device and give it a try.

I will continue the testing with the 6.5 simulator so please report any problems you might face.

I just checked these options on:

"Lock if idle for sec:60"

"Lock After Device Wakes"

"This is the Title Displayed at the Top when Dialer is Shown: [some Chinese words there]"

"Unlock When Keyboard Slided Out"

"Unlock When Stylus is Out"

"UnLock After Call is Over"

"UnLock When Switched To External Power"

"Unlock If Waken Up Manually After (ms) : 1000"

"Load on Start Up"

"Delay in Sec After Start Up: 20 "

The problems still are:

1. When Keyboard Slided Out or Unlock When Stylus is Out and or Switched To External Power : back lights were on then nothing hanppened

2. After Call is Over : the screen is still be locked

I use the wm6.5_21872 and the csdevctrl.6.5:(

Thanks all for the feedback.

The main functionality depends on the actual win program running which locks the device. I am currently testing on the simulator on which the lock screen is what the attachment shows.

Does anyone of you get a different screen when the device is locked ? I mean a screen which does not provide the Slide option ?

I will try to update my device to a 6.5 and see how it behaves.

My friend congrats for your app!

I'm using TESS 3.8 on my Topaz which implements a WM6.5 build which, unlike stock build has autolock disabled (unfortunately). Your app "re-enables" the autolock possibility and that made me very happy.

I have noticed though that when I select "Lock if idle for sec" and enter a value (eg 5sec) lock is not enabled. Lock is enabled after 10sec because I enabled "Lock when dimmed" and have set the 10sec period as the period for the device to dimmed when in battery power.

Am I doing something wrong?

Thanx again for your great app!

P.S. I think that (for aesthetic reasons) maybe you should consider using some higher quality icons

Hi chrisstavrou my friend :) I have a question and i hope you can give me a solution. It doesn't have to do with csdevctrl but with locking process of windows. I use wktask and whenever the phone is locked i see an annoying tab on the top of the screen. I want to add in the exclusion list of wktask the process of locking in order to hide this tab but i don't know the name of the process because the phone is locked and i can't see the processes. Can you tell me which process is running (and responsible for the locking) when the phone is locked? Thank you in advance ;)

Thanks for the comments.

The behaviour seems a bit strange, in theory it should love when idle unless there is a program which keeps on sending dummy keystrokes.
I will check it and let you know.

Gia sou my friend,
if you are referring to win6.1 then the process which is locking is the GWES.EXE.
For win6.5 i am still the simulator and i am still investigating for this.

I've had this proggie on my phone for almost a year now? Holy cow, has it really been that long! Anyway, I've never actually been able to get the screen swipes to work for me, but I love it anyway, like a misbehaving child. I tried v 6.5, and no change.

I don't understand why it won't work for me; I've got an ATT Tilt, running my second ROM, a Windows 6.1 ROM. (I had one of Alex's ROMs before this.) Any thoughts?:rolleyes::cool:

Hi, nice app! Works almost perfect on my wm6.5 ATT Fuze (Touch Pro) The only thing that don't works is the exception to lock when a program its running (CorePlayer). I added player.exe to exception but still locking when watching video... I have the 6.5 version installed in the sale folder that other one. The original csdevctrl.exe renamed to .old. Any workaround?

PD: now i workaround this keeping pluged... but sometimes on the go i want to watch some stuff. Maybe this times i can disable... but if you can fix this will awsome!

Hey There,

Have this on my Touch HD running 6.1

I have found that it is perfect for what I want, but isn't always working.

I have it set so that it only asked for the password when I come out of standby. When I first restart my device, this works perfectly. I am finding however that eventually it stops asking for the password and I can bring it out of standby without having to enter the password. A reset fixes this problem, but obviously if I forget to do this, and the phone is stolen, it's too late.

I am sorry if this has been answered before, but really couldn't face trawling through 101 pages to see if it had :D

Hi all,
6.5 is out having:

- beta support for win 6.5, i am testing it on the simulator so please let me know how it works on the device
- added option to power off after the call has been disconnected. (Goodies->Power off After Call Disconnected)

Any comments/ideas are most welcome.

Can you try the debug version of the 6.5 and send me the output file to investigate it ?
These are the instructions:
- Copy the csdevctrldebug.exe anywhere on your device.
- Run it once and it will kill the already running csdevctrl (if any). If there was a csdevctrl running then rerun it once again.
- Perform the actions you described (keep in mind that the debug version reacts slower especially when sliding etc)
- Run it once more so that it kills itself.
- A file csdevlog.txt in the root directory must have been created, please post this file.

i also notice that it stops autolocking on wake (option i have enabled) about half way through the day, a soft reset fixes it and turns it back on but atm it doesnt lock until i softreset again, its like it died in the background

I have added an extra option in 6.5 which dumps its variables without being in debug mode.

Can you please install 6.5 and then once the problem you described appears:
- Run the csdevsetup program.
- Goto General options and press the 'Dump All Variables' button.
- It should create the \csdevdump.txt file so can you please post it for investigation

In addition to the Bluetooth not activate under "Goodies" option (I ticked all 3 boxes). I can't activate the Lock even I had (under "Triggers & Options menu) "Lock After Device Wakes" & Lock when Power Switched to Battery".

Chrisstavrou,

First of all thanks for making this great little software. I have been using this for quite some time (still stick to V6.11), and I found some functions a bit, hmmmm, could be better. For example, on my phone (htc P660 WM6.1) , I set the device to lock fully on idle for 10 seconds, then after 3 seconds to turn off the light, then after 5 seconds to go to sleep. Now, if I strike any keys, the screen will be on and shows the Unlock Screen. It would be better if fully locked the keys (except the defined wake-up key) will not triger the screen to turn on. And I define a key to unlock the phone but I must push it twice to really unclock it. The first time it shows "waiting the hot-keys" then if I push the same key again the phone unlocks. It would be better for the device to respond to the hot-key of unlock at once. In summary, my suggestion is:

(1) Full lock will lock all keys except defined "exception key" so that no keys can wake up the screen.
(2) Defined hot-keys for unlock (and also as the exception key) will wake up the phone and unlock it instantly.

It is possible my settings are not optimal. But I hope these function can be realized because waking op the phone often by accidentally touch any keys will drain the power, and people using other key than the power button to unlock the phone would be convenient to tap the key once to wake-up and unlock it. I hope it is not difficult to make the changes because I am a dummy in programming and must rely entirely on your intelligence!

Hello, the csdevctrl6.5 has a strange behavior with the Topaz in signature... I chose the option to turn off the screen during a call... but it doesn't work all the times.
Often, during a call, the screen first turns off, but after a couple of seconds it goes on without pressing any key... Do you have a clue?

I have a HTC Touch Pro 2 running WM 6.1, and your App. and its great, but i have a problem.

When i run a program, the phone locks after a little while. the "lock if idle" option i set to 0, and i have set the spesific program in the "dont lock if running".

I have tried:
TomTom navigator.exe; calc.exe; iexplorer.exe; youtube.exe. (and other forms of tomtoms name.)

But it still locks. what can i (we) do? can you describe how to enter the right path?

Hi all,
sorry for the delay but during the move hard disk went bad and i am still trying to setup my enviroment.

Anyway, for the "Do not Lock if Running" to work the executable file name (not the full path) needs to be entered (its case sensitive) followed by the symbol ';'.

So for example to stop locking when internet explorer is infront, then enter:
iexplorer.exe;

A second executable can be appended so for example:
iexplorer.exe;pword.exe;
should stop locking when either internet explorer or word is infront.

The executable name can be found by running the program and through a task manager such as 'TaskManager' ,
http://www.freewareppc.com/utilities/taskmanager.shtml
locate the application with its name and write down the program it refers to.

Hope it works for you,
am preparing another release with some bug fixing which hopefully i can post next week.

Hello,
Very nice program! Only one thing to comment: when putting it on from powersaving mode, being called, etc. it takes about half a second for the program to execute. Sometimes then just a button is pressed. Maybe there's a way to speed up this. It could be phone dependent: i use a samsung i780.

Is it possible? I though the "Unlock if waken up manually after (ms)" fucntion was for that? But it doesn't seems to work.

Wanderful program! It has sophisticted settings of hibernation and performing fuctions after hibernation. What it needs is to fully wake up by one click of single defined functional key and compatibilities to wm6.5.x slided unlock during incall. It will be a top one auto lock program in windows mobile!

I use it successfully on HTC Touch just to turn on bluetooth with incoming calls: wonderfull (can't understand why Microsoft and/or device makers don't implement this function out of the box).

Now I got an HD2 Leo, but, at this time, Csdevctrl 6.5 doesn't do the job properly. I know they changed something in BT activation on HD2: not all apps can toggle BT on/off.

you have to delete CSDevCtrl.link in windows\automatic execution (or performance or something like, i don't know the exact name of the folder in WWE ROMs, but you can search for CSDevCtrl.link in windows with resco explorer or similar app)

Searched the registry for every instance of 'csdevctrl' and deleted each. Found csdevctrl in the mydevice\windows\startup\csdevctrl.exe and deleted that. Problem solved.

Maybe rewrite the uninstall routine to do the same?

Just Installed this on my Touch Pro with MightyRom 6 (WMobile 6.5) and this is exactly what I needed! I liked the standard Slide unlocker and Windows Dailer (down with HTC dialer), but hated that it didn't lock automatically when I hit the power button. THANKS!

1 Question though, did you ever get around to making the option to allow locking even if stylus is out?

I loose my stylus alot, and would hate to be aggravated with no locking while I'm in the process of waiting for the stylus to surface again. :D

On my Tilt2 with WM6.5, while the phone is locked (Lock Fully) and not on a call, the hardware volume up/down buttons are still active. I confirm that the previous bug regarding volume buttons DURING a call does not exist and they are active, but when I'm not on a call and phone is locked, it would be nice if volume buttons were locked so the ringer can't be turned off or lowered by mistake.

Otherwise, best app I've found so far for locking the phone. Great job!

Hi, just saw your programs, it works great but it has to be adjust a little to suit my needs (but I'm sure the others will want to do as me though)

1. I want the lock screen to appear after i didn't use device for 20 secs and do it if i'm on Today screen only -> OK, works great
2. I want the device to Power off automatically after lock screen appeared by 5 secs -> OK, works great via Goodies' setting
3. I want to have a shortcut to lock screen and then power off automatically -> OK, via VJDeviceLock -pwroff

But ....
- My alarm (G-Alarm) didn't alarm me because of Goodies setting (in #2)
- The Cyberon Voice Dialer screen (the blue screen that waits for Voice command) can't complete successfully due to the device was power off before it can processing my voice command (P.S. Voice command initiated from my bluetooth headset button), i guessed because of Goodies setting (in #2)

-> So, Can we have the feature like UnlockWhenProcessExecuted = [list of xxxx.exe;yyyy.exe] and CSDEVCTRL will unlock if the new process's name matched the list ?

Or I have to just turn off the goodies setting or make it waits longer ?
Or you may have a better solution for me ?

Hello!

I have a problem: I've tried a lot of configuration alternatives, but I still can't do the following points together:

a) Phone must be locked while the phone rings, i.e. I have incoming call. But not fully, I need to be able to answer.
b) Phone must be locked while an sms arrives. Fully locked.
c) Phone must be locked while an appointment fires. Fully locked.
d) Phone must be unlocked when I press the power button. (i.e. wake it up manually, which setting is in CSDEVCTRL)

Please, tell me, what should I need to set in settings to acheive it? Or maybe somebody can give me reg-file?

Thanks in advance!

P.S.: A bug maybe found: the program doesn't accept as exception pocketalarm.exe somewhy. If I set to block the screen on wake up and alarm rings few times, then phone goes to sleep and I wake it up - it's blocked, although PocketAlarm is running... Strange...

I will try to answer to your comments hopefully the coming week.

As for the support of win 6.5, i have installed win 6.5 on my Titan II but i hate the full lock screen that 6.5 has. Does anyone knows how to remove it to get the simple unlock prompt as the win 6.1 has ?
This might be out of topic but i would like to keep 6.5 on my phone for testing and this full lock screen makes hard to use.

it worked for a while now its not working. the main thing i want to do is when i put the device on standby(press power button) then wake it up i want it to be locked, but it doesnt work even though i enebled it

The same thing here, the device won't lock after waking from standby.. I have WM6.1, maybe that's the problem? Everything else (that i've tried) works great. You've done a wonderful job! Imagine Windows with this much options!

EDIT: "Lock after device wakes" works only if you let the device untouched until it powers of (which is never going to happen if you hold it in your pocket), and doesn't lock when you manually go to standby.

Hi all,
6.18 is out which includes:

Please be careful with the policies as they can create 'unwanted effects' ...

any plans to do some touch up work on the setup gui? the reason i'm quoting this post is that I had to hunt fairly hard for this info for another recruit. the first post still has the old option for exchange listed. could the more common policies be labeled in the list?

once again thanks for all the hard work, love it!

Hello everyone!
Guys, I feel like my question has been asked before, but I couldn't find it here, so, please exuse me for that.
I only wish to know is it possible to have a vibration on lock/unlock events and how? Use the latest version downloaded from the first post (6.5 I beleive).
Thank you in advance.

This would solve "Lock on standby" option... BUT there is no such option in CSDEVCTRL:mad:

hello all, really thanks chrisstavrou:

I have a problem with the program. I have been using the program for a few months without problem but yesterday a installed one gravitty sensor and few more programs. After reboot my windows mobile is always locked from start. I cant unlock it because when i press unlock appear unlock again and i can use the phone. The same if a plug in usb and i cant use active sync because always take usb dick from default.

żIs there any option to not start application or an option to emergency unlock?

In standard windows if you press shift when starts some boot application dosn't starts but in wm i thin'k there isn't this option or safe mode boot...

If there isn't it this option i must to reflashed phone but i suggest the application shouldn't be started if two different keys are pressed at moment the application starts.

Thank you
