what software does Telus use for MMS in it's stock ROM? If it's arcsoft, then I'd like to take a stab at helping get it working for you guys... i use Verizon but i am getting pretty good at getting Arcsoft to work for me.... What I need is your HKLM/Software/Arcsoft registry export from someone who is using the stock ROM and then the same thing from someone trying to get either Arcsoft 4.2.8.1 or the newer 5.XXX to work....

So whos MMS servers are you using??We, on WM Telus phones, are not using any MMS servers. No ROM build for a Telus WM phone has offered MMS support and there remains no indication that Telus will.

I remember people having tried to hack MMS into WM through to Telus, but to no avail. It appears that Telus' business model is to segregate defined devices to specific features of its network. The locked mentatlity at Telus tends to treat WM devices more for business and data (web/email) than for a younger target who're motivated for text/photo messenging. I'm guessing a bit by what is not available and apparently locked out on the network.

That's the we way it appears to be. We can try to find the direct servers to see if it may work, but so far none that I know of have accomplished sending such messages on WM devices. Your network ID is associated to the model of phone that you have...

this really shouldn't be such a difficult task... i know it's been attempted many times before by many people but shouldn't we be able to just get the servers and other settings from a non-WM device that has functional MMS on Telus?

The only other issue I can think of is that i i recall correctly, Telus handles MMS in a different way than most other carriers. The last time I had a non-WM handset on Telus, MMS messages were handled via a text message with a link to a wireless web page where i could retrieve the message. It was a total PITA. Unless Telus has changed their network model for MMS, it won't be easy.

That's nice, but that doesn't change the fact that they don't work. I'm on the Telus network, Telus has tried to disable picture messaging entirely on their PDA/smart phones. My solution that I posted works, at least for sending... I would really appreciate it if you coulld help me with it, because I'd like to beat Telus and be able to send messages as well. :D

MMS didn't work in DCD 3.0.4... I should know, I tried to help him problem solve it. I believe the last piece to the puzzle, is missing header info.

I really don't know what to tell you then as I'm not on Telus and know nothing about the status of their MMS.

KazW, I'm glad to see the work you've done... but I'm afraid the results of my best efforts can be found in DCD's 3.0.4 Telus Carrier settings (which don't work)

:) I'm well aware of your best results, you've managed to get arcsoft talking to the telus servers, I haven't for some reason, I believe that if you use the two addresses I list on the page that you maybe able to at least match my results, possibly go further... But I do doubt we'll be able to receive picture messages with telus

Also it'd be much better than my solution because the UI of the application doesn't quite "feel" as nice as arcsoft's.

Thanks for the settings to get MMS working!!!! Well half at least. Hopefully one day the other half can be figured out. It's weird that it works on the WM6_threaded.cab and not the arcsoft cab. I tried arcsoft with the settings you gave and couldn't get it to work also.

Well it worked for a day, in that I could send picture and video text messages. Then today it doesn't work, so I'm sure that I have been flagged as a account that is not allowed to use this service. Go figure....gotta love %$^*@$ Telus!

Sorry Mr.Mont, wrong answer. TELUS does not scan, flag or monitor PDA account's for MMS activity. Just because it decided to cripple the functionality doesn't mean it is out to prevent usage at all means necessary.

Here is a little history about one of the reason's why TELUS doesn't support MMS on pda's and blackberry's. A long time ago, when data was 1X only and TELUS did not have a system to differentiate data from a browser and data from a picture message (coinciding with the period where data plans where outrageously high, i.e. no unlimited data plans), clients where billed KB usage per MMS instead of the regular MMS fee...

Fast forward to today, and unfortunately TELUS has not made any changes to the system since then (although now they can detect MMS from regular data).

So how do you fix this you ask ? Well when I originally tested the settings I wasn't able to send any MMS, it would load the data all the way to 100% and then bounce back with an error message along the lines of 'the recipient address is invalid' until I had MMS re-provisioned in my account.

Now how do you get a TELUS' DNA agent to actually help you out without getting a speech about 'this feature is not supported' well just mention to them that you are NOT receiving MMS' that are being sent to you, and by this I mean you are not getting the pictures in mytelusmobility.com/snap...

With some luck the DNA agent will troubleshoot by starting re-provisionning MMS and at which point you can end the call or something...

Thanks for the reply and suggestion for getting Telus DNA to re-provision my account. What exactly does this re-provisioning do?

It removes and re-adds the feature. Sort of like when a software is corrupted on your computer and needs to be uninstalled and re-installed.
