Ever wanted to have a fast internet connection that will let you surf the web, play online games (Like World Of Warcraft), without being limited by a Ethernet cable, or wifi range? Well, read on...

What you'll need:
- Sprint as your Carrier
- Sprint With Power Vision Access (15.00 a month)
- A Windows Mobile phone
- A laptop
- A mini-usb to usb connector

First, boot your phone up, and disconnect all usb cables from the phone. Connect to the internet Via IE, so a live webpage is opened. Click Start > Programs > Internet Sharing. Remember that the USB cable is not connected to the phone at this time. Once in internet sharing, make sure to choose "Sprint PCS" from the Network Connection option. Click "Connect". Your status should read "Connected" or "Check USB connection". At this point, you can connect the USB, and windows will automatically load the drivers, and connect. Once your phone reads "Connected", you can open up your favorite browser, or anything else that may require an internet connection, and go at it. You've just skipped out on the $39 monthly tethering charge.

I've actually done this with my Mogul, and got speeds between 1400-2100kb/s down and about 300-500kb/s up.

Good Luck!

PS: It's free for the tethering. As I stated on my below post, there are two different charges you would ussually have to pay.

Wait till they send you a "letter" and disconnect your line :)

I've been doing it for more than a year, with no problems what-so-ever. The person that actually told me this was my Rep.

Sorry, but this is not making sense at the moment, is your device still connected to the Laptop after all of this or are you now connecting only with the PocketPC?

Okay, you first connect when NOTHING is connected to the Pocket PC. After it says "Check USB connection, plug in your USB connector from the laptop to the pocket PC. Do not push anything. It should automaticly install the required drivers, and make the connection.

Note, you do have to have permision on your windows account to install drivers.

it's not really free.. you are still paying 15.00...
so its cheap but not free and if they ask for a tethering charge you will most likely be found out and disconnected or billed for it at some point.

It is free. The 15.00 charge is for internet on your phone - this gives you free tethering, which is an additional 40.00 per month.

As I've stated, I've been doing it for a year without a single problem.

This is basic knowledge.

I use also this in my country (portugal), but I'm limited by the traffic limit 100 Mb.

In terms of speed if in 3G you can get 1.6Mb/s (Device limited)

I don't see any news on this:confused::confused:

think about it..
you are paying 15.00 for internet on your mobile..
so fair enough its free internet on the pc but theoretically its not free as you are paying for it to be used on the mobile which your pc is using to connect.

and also having the thread name as "Free Mobile Broadband [DSL SPEEDS!]
is very misleading as

1) as i have explained - theoretically its not free..
2) not all countries have the "sprint" carrier...

So you're saying that Mobile Internet and Hardline Internet are the same? They're very different.

kingsizeriz

they are both internet.. and you are paying for 15.00 to get on the net, whether its phone or computer...

im not going to post in this thread anymore because its just going to carry on into an arguement - which is not why i am here, i am just disagreeing with the thread name you have chosen as it is very misleading.

What kind of latency does EVDO have? I used to tether on the 1X network and while it was fine for surfing the web, it had horrible latency. If you play any FPS games online or anything that requires split second actions then it will probably handicap you when compared to a hardwire connection. Then again, it is still better than nothing.

I ran at about 225ms latancey.

It works fine for most games.
