I just know I am about to brick this thing and kill myself, but here is my understanding:
1. Use latest Olipro unlocker (2.40);
2. Use PPCKitchen to build WM6.1 and GPS ROM with the modules/etc. that I want - choose Alltel in the service provider dropdown box in the top right hand corner.
3. Build the ROM and choose the "upload rom to device" option.
I am sure this is already wrong, but here are my other questions:
None of the special code entries work. Things like ##<msl>#, ##778#, etc., so I can't find all my data settings and MSID. The information I have read says to enter these codes and nothing more. When I enter them, I am just staring at my dialer screen with that code typed in and nothing happens. Pressing send does nothing but try and call that number and there isn't an "Edit" or "View" button to press or anything of that sort. I can't find a walkthrough on how to enter those codes.
I just would love a lean install of wm6.1 with GPS enabled and some of the popular mods that will work with Alltel. I haven't found any good walkthroughs for Alltel users here or at PPCGeeks.
If anyone has any advice for a way to do this safely, let me know. You could even message me on AIM at Lucificate if I could pick your brain a bit. If this doesn't start making a whole lot more sense real quick, I will just learn to live with the default software my phone came with until HTC releases an official Alltel upgrade with 6.1 and GPS =)

Having same problem with Sprint Mogul using DCD rom with verizon settings. With the new rom the ## msl # comman does nothing. I reverted back to the unofficial sprint rom and it works again. The DCD rom looks much better, anybody got any ideas?

I'm on Verizon and my codes haven't worked for a long long time. The simplest thing is to go into your windows folder find the file called epst.ink and copy it to your start menu/program folder. Then whenever you need inot those setting you just go to your programs and select it.

You also need the updated GPS radio to run a GPS rom!

At what point do you insert this step? I thought the kitchen included all the components for he flash. All I have found is some Sprint radio upgrade, not sure if I can just throw that onto the Alltel phone.

You can get the code using a program called getspc (search xda forums for it).
just after you install olipro 2.4, you flash to the sprint 3.35 (this will install the new radio) rom but do not allow the device to configure (do not tap screen when it asks you to), then immediately flash to dcd's rom.
I have a qwest mogul and using this procedure preserved all the information on the phone for Qwest (I didn't have to use the information I copied), but be sure to write them down just in case. Also, you may want to find the exit bootloader program, just in case your phone gets stuck in bootloader mode (I needed it).

Unless something has changed the kitchen does not include the radio. The safest way to get the radio installed is to flash the Sprint rom but don't allow the customizations to run unless you're a Sprint customer. Then you flash your custom rom for the specific carrier you're on. I'm on Alltel also and the Sprint rom will work fine to get the radio installed.

Be forewarned, though, that once you upgrade to the 3.35 radio, it might be tricky to flash to the stock Alltel rom once it is available. Some have had success relocking then reflashing and some have bricked multiple phones in the process. Apparently, downgrading a radio is much more taxing on the phone than upgrading the radio.

I have gotten mms working in 3.0.4 by cooking rom without new arsoft and using lennys cab instead....bummed for not having the new arsoft but it still works
