Thanks for sharing this.

The thing with radio is, usually if it's working fine for you then you're hesitant to upgrade it, especially if you're not 100% sure if the new radio version is stable ...
Can more ppl chime in if the new radio version is working fine?
The one thing I care more about is actually BT reception ... I have 3.07.90 and while the phone reception is pretty good, BT reception is terrible ...

How risky is it to update the Radio? If it goes wrong, can I update it again, or does it have the potential to brick my device like a ROM update?

And how do you update? Just use RUU and put the radio ROM in the same folder? And I guess you have to rename the .nbh file "ROM_signed.nbh"?
(Edit ... silly me... it's already named ROM_signed.nbh ... so I guess put it in the same folder as RUU and just run the Rom Update utility and it'll update itself?)

For those with Rogers Elfins, we have 03.07.90 for our current Radio version.
There is a thread that has this 03.07.90 version of the radio to download:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=342265
Would this work if we tried to do a restore of 03.07.90 on an Elfin?

dsixda, until someone's actually tried to downgrade back to 3.07.90 I guess we just won't know ... but good thing you have found the thread with the current radio ROM, so worse comes to worst you can always try.
I just know last time 3.12.90 was available, people upgraded to it, and had all sorts of problems with it (phone dropping connection for no reason), they were able to go back to 3.07.90 without any problem.
Which does not 100% guarantee you can go back from 3.18.90 to 3.07.90, but it's a good start. And really, here we hope the new radio is stable enough we won't have to go back anyways.

Ok, I got a little problem here trying to upgrade.
I downloaded the file from the first post by fupeng, and when I tried to unzip the file it says the .rar file is corrupted.
Then I downloaded vadyarik's file, which is Radio_3.18.90.zip, and went ahead till the very stage, when the RUU says "Upgrade to 3.12.90" ...
So is the radio actually 3.12.90?? Or does it say 3.12.90 in RUU but is actually 3.18.90 after the upgrade?
I'm a little reluctant to upgrade to 3.12.90 after hearing some bad stories about this version.
For ppl who upgraded, which file did you use? And which version does it say on the ELF(in) after?
Thanks!

i've used the fist file uploaded by fupeng. i also think at the upgrade time i got the message that its 3.12.90. but i went on to upgrade and later when i checked, the device info shows it as 3.18.90, so i guess u can try it out because i have not experienced any problem so far and i m using it for last 3-4 days :)

Thanks for the quick reply htctouchp!! I went ahead and upgraded it already! You are correct, even though RUU says it is 3.12.90, after the upgrade I checked my phone and it says 3.18.90.
I'll let you guys know if I notice any difference in the next few days!!

Yes, it seems RUU_Signed done on the basis of Radio 3.12, and in one place does not figure in the correct info which read in RUU :)
fupeng,
I want to clarify one thing, is actually a Radio 3.18, or is the same as the 3.12? Change number could simply be using the HEX-editor.
Sorry for my English!

At least I can say the new radio ROM doesn't have the same problems that many reported on radio 12 (severe battery drain, losing signals, resetting connections etc etc)
I haven't noticed any improvement over 3.07.90 neither though. BT performance hasn't improved neither (then again, maybe it's my headset).

Anyway, i always prefer to use the latest versions, so i'll stick to it.

Someone posted in an Artemis (P3300) thread that this radio will also work on an Artemis... can someone confirm that?/

Errr ... this is a radio for the ELF / EFLin. It is not supposed to work for Artemis.
And we can't even try it on an Artemis, since most ppl on this forum are ELF/ELFin owners.

about the battery consumption, I am not sure the effect because I also flashed my elfin with pdaviet rom 36b.

after a few days, I think battery life is better. Could be placebo but the fact is my Elfin went over 2 days without charging!
Usually after a day it's down to 40%. Now after a day it's around 70%.

I guess I was a bit confused by this statement in the Blue Eleves install instructions then
"Special Notes: To make it easy for ROM updating, CID Unlocking is integrated into this ROM update utility. Just double-click on [START] batch-file when you are ready and follow through the instructions and it will have your new ROM updated."

no problem..just install the USPL to unlock the CID once and for all...after that u can flash cooked ROMs as long as u dont use a shipped ROM ;)

Does unlocking the CID wipe the device out? I don't have any data that needs to be backed up but I don't really feel like reinstalling all the software (unless for some reason it screws up or something)

Hi Druid80,
I reflashed the Radio Rom under bootloader mode, but it still was stuck at the smart mobility screen, so i did the following according to andrewloh (Thanks) http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=347700&page=2 I relfashed the rom and reflashed the blue elves rom after, and before anything else, I reflashed this 3.18.90 radio rom, I was on a roll so strike when the iron is hot, or the HTC is hot :) then restore my back-up (whew good thing i always backup before flashing)
Voila, Im back with what i have. I tried the radio, it was quite good, signal is better, even in the restroom, i had gained clearer signal. one test pending though, I'll try it on the lift going down, I never had any signals while I'm in the lift unlike other people do with Singtel provider. (im using M1) Singapore
Thanks for the radio rom upgrades, and for the help unbricking.
Update, just did the elevator test. still no signal, compared to Singtel provider, I will try again with my same provider but on my Sony w810i if I can make calls. update in an hour
