If this is to avoid losing your messages should you require a hard reset, just use PIM Backup which you can find here: http://www.dotfred.net/. Otherwise, as far as I'm aware, no.

Dude, what do you mean no?!?!?!? Go to your messaging then tap menu>tools>options>storage and then tick "when available, use the storage card to store attachements". Good idea to us epim backup though as it will instantly restore messages without mucking around to read them.... Still, this frees up memory on you hermes... Cheers:D
