i just noticed this:
NOTES
The only thing UPXed are some files in the CommManager. I might UPX some more to gain even more space, but I have to be careful so that I don't break anything.
may be why there are missing registry keys for comm manager fix and greatbals comm manager wont work?

Yea, I didn't really UPX many things. You could also compress the ROM with LZX if I ever release my fixed LZX kitchen. That would gain you more free storage space but it might not compress UPX'd files as well.

im loading m2d on J2c and gathering things to all match up m2d style
didnt need greatbals com manager after all, just took a default m2d backgound png then renamed it to P_BG.png and dropped it into windows, now the j2c comm manager matches nicely with the rest of my setup
awesome!

so i finally got a storage card an flashed this.
i must say, AMAZING work.
i have a justme created rom but the .nbh is bigger than this one so im just gonna keep this one.
the only thing is, manilla2d sucks on this rom due to the fact that the sys and xip are so low.
manilla would crash.
and everytime i started up, it would go throught infinite sft reset. i had to take memory card out.
but this rom is AMAZING.
SUPER FAST!
slide out keyboard to landscape is IMMEDIATE
usually i would wait 5 seconds!
THANKS!

I cannot connect to wifi via wpa, but i can through wep. I installed Adavanced Config, and have disabled and re-enabled wpa to no effect. I have m2d installed with a few other programs that shouldn't effect it. Is anyone else experiencing problems with this rom?

Try searching the forums before posting please.
That being said:
If it is an SDHC card, you must format a partition smaller than 2gb (not positive if this method works on the Herald/Wing).
Format the card with FAT32
You must HardSPL the device before SD flash will work.

Seriously, please search the forums and research before posting.
Flashing by sd doesn't work with sdhc cards, but may work with a partition smaller than 2gb.

You have to use a decently fast SD card or a small SD card. It has to be FAT32. Just like mdneilson said. Also, make sure you're flashing the NBH file, not the compressed file I posted.

Hi ivan!
Hope you had a great Christmas?
A question, or better a request:
Any Chance of a new Clean ROM? I ask because your Just2Clean ROMs and the Just Me ones don't work with the last Wisbar Advance 2 Versions :( Sol I installed ttran01's 7.7 Lite again... But your ROMs are, well cleaner, smaller, ... So any Chance of actual one? perhaps also supporting manila 2D?
Hope I don't struggle your nerves :o

btw.: Bot, Wisbar and Manila have the Startup Loop when the storage card is in the phone!

That's not a bug with the ROM itself, per say... it's an issue accross multiple ROMs. It has to do with with the memory card driver. I thought someone had figured out what caused it... if you can find that post for me, then I can fix it in the next upcoming ROM.
Thanks to everyone else for the grats.

After a lot of testing here my results:
This time everything went well with WisbarAdvance Desktop... but HTC Album 2.0 is the bad guy! since installing this I get the starup loop. uninstalling didn't help.
Nothing I tried with the omap850_SDHC.dll worked! I still have the startup loop with microSD insert. Also some reg tweaks I found didn't work!
I also searched for doubled notifications on startup (I used sktools).
Hope it helps?

Edit.: btw. it's also booting when I take out my SIM card and let the micro SD in!That's the SIM solution (http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=349206) but it didn't work either!

p.s. if u use quickmenu, i find it should be one of the first few apps on bootup...

Thanks... the strange thing is: I only have 3 apps on startup, but not the one wich I installed before it crashed the first time! Well I will this if it happens again!
Infact it happened again, this time after installing some games :( and it didn't help to change anything in the startup folder
Seems like shouldn't have installed sktools on SDCard!

The card has to be formatted in FAT32. Also, if the card isn't fast enough to be read by the bootloader, you have to partition the card to have a smaller partition holding the nbh file. The thread has more info on this.

To flash it you MUST have a HardSPL'ed Herald or Wing and a microSD card. Just place the HERAIMG.nbh into the SD card's root directory. Do NOT rename it to anything else. Then hold the camera button down while you turn on the device and then press the volume down slider when it asks you to. Wait until it says it's done. I haven't tried to run any activesync other than to an exchange server so tell me if that isn't working.
EDIT2: Thanks to shep211 for finding this (http://forum.xda-developers.com/archive/index.php/t-267475.html) for people who are having problems formatting this with their SD cards.

Hello Ivan, I am new to your roms, but looking forward to using the lightest, fastest Wing ROM around. I just want to be clear: Is this correct?
It is impossible to flash your ROM using your PC's RUU.exe procedure. If so, just for my educational purposes, why is that the case? (I ask because I have an 8g SDHC card I've been using for year, and it's got a tightly organized file structure for all my media files, cab files, etc. So it sounds like I would have to copy all of that back to my PC, then reformat the SDHC card per your specs, then recopy all my files back to the newly formatted 8g card. Is this correct?)
thank you much!

Every time i try to install just2clean i get a size error
ivanmmj
28th January 2009, 09:13 AM
To answer both of you:
My ROMs cannot be installed through the normal methods because Heralds/Wings/Atlas's have a ROM size requirements and my ROMs, being so small, don't meet it. They must be flashed through an SD card that's fast enough and that is FAT32.

When you see the threaded txt conversation you'll see a little icon. Click on it and you'll see the actual MMS. I'm not sure if that's a bug or a feature of the threaded messaging. :p

My initial needs over past 2 years has been that I like the ifonz interface and app launcher -- and thus have wanted a lite ROM with low overhead so I can run ifonz and other apps.
I was using ttrans Open Touch 6.5 ... Am in midst of trying a few different ones right now... and installed PDAViet's latest (see my sig file). That was first time I had seen or used the Manila interface.... and I really like it. And maybe will give up my whole interest in ifonz.
but still, the idea of a stripped down rom interests me a lot because I like to run about 4 apps always loaded: OperaMini, Contacts, Notes, and MP3 player -- so low overhead ROMS are my pref, so i can install apps a la carte, which I know is the whole purpose of this ROM.
So, question: Can manila touchflo 2D interface be installed onto this rom?
If so, does it perform well -- or better than -- the ones that have it baked in?
Sorry but I am not as tech savvy here -- am more of an end user, and search has not answered this question for me in this manner. thank you

Okay Ivan, I understand. But to clarify: Do you mean bugs that got introduced into the whole performance of your ROM, or bugs that you find to be annoyingly inherent to any & all versions of TouchFlo2D ?
And, 2nd Q, just so I understand what is even possible, even if not what you want to do on your ROM releases: CAN I add TouchFlo2D to this ROM va some .cab file, or to any ROM without it, and have it work? Or is it something that, in order to work, must be baked into the OS/ROM ?
3rd, thanks so much for answering all questions. You do an extraordinary job of "tech support" for all your releases -- it's very noticeable, and much appreciated, especially since it is not the norm here.

Okay Ivan, I understand. But to clarify: Do you mean bugs that got introduced into the whole performance of your ROM, or bugs that you find to be annoyingly inherent to any & all versions of TouchFlo2D ?
Both. The performance is affected and I have a strict performance level that I aim to meet with all of my ROM releases. Also, there are some bugs inherent to all versions of TouchFlo2D that I just can't get past. But, there IS some hope. There is a new version of it coming out soon (of m2d not of my ROM) that has supposedly has landscape support and since many bugs come from the broken landscape code, this gives me some hope.
It is very much possible. There is a thread on the main development forums (not the Herald development forums) that has the cabs that you need. The thread is a little on the messy side, though... But that's where I got the files that I cooked with.
and since many bugs come from the broken landscape code, this gives me some hope.
Ah ha. I want to give this thing a whirl, installing the TF2D cab onto my wing, after flashing to J2C. 95% of time I never use landscape mode (only for youtube vids), so does that mean I'm less likely to encounter the problems, or does the very existence of buggy landscape code permeate thruout the whole usage of the TF nav system?
It is very much possible. There is a thread on the main development forums I am going to try tomorrow, and report back, for sake of others who may be interested,
^_^ Thank you for the kind words. It's really true. There's a real cultural mismash on XDA, and I don';t mean nationality. The nationality blend is part of the best things about XDA. I mean the attitude towards help. But that's a subject that's been hashed over before in many "meta" threads about the "XDA Spirit". In short, most people will simply not answer questions burrowing down trying to differentiate A from B -- unless it is code-talk-specific. It's fine, it is what it is, I have come to accept it. But it's always great to just POINT OUT when an app developer or Rom author is really attentive to his userbase. So another thank you.

I second that!!! This was the first ROM I've EVER flashed and I in fact chose this ROM for the simple fact of the ROM creator and the way he lends support and the very detailed instructions which are included with the release.

That means that either your SD card isn't formatted into FAT32 or it's too slow. You might want to try a smaller partition on your card.
