View Full Version : Why is Tytn II faster then HTC Advantage (X7500)?

Today I purchased a used Tytn II and I have sense before a X7500, however after using the Tytn II for a while I noticed that it is somehow much faster then the advantage!
If I use tomtom then it searches cities and towns faster, it calculates the route lightning fast and has much smoother graphic when running the demo!
I then went on and tried to play chess against the both machines!
I used "Pocketgrandmaster" and the latest "Toga II" that can be found on their site, and guess what, out of 3 games played Tytn II won 2 games and one draw against the advantage!
Now I wonder how is this even possible?
Tytn II has a 400 MHz CPU and the advantage has an 624 MHz CPU!

i think the reason why tomtom is slow on the advantage is because ur using the internal memory, and from what i understand, the hard drive is pretty slow. try putting the maps on the memory card and see if it makes a difference

I tried to put the maps on the memory card on the advantage and still the same results! The Tytn II is outperforming the ass of the advantage!
If I had a camera I would certeinly upload a video to demonstrate it!
It is nothing like this video (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=zIJWAu6IRe4) it is much faster and performs even better then the older device in that video!
Maybe I have the proper drivers in my device already? How do I check that?
Also I noticed that if I take a large picture I can move it around with my finger on the screen much smoother then with the same picture on the advantage, if I take my finger on the picture and move it around I can see on the advantage that it drowes lines when I am moving it around, but that does not happend in Tytn II! Correct me if I am wrong, but the lines on the advantage must be rendering problem?

Wait... Did you just say the TyTn II was actually FASTER than another mobile device?!?!
/me faints!

I believe that the Advantage has the XScale CPU, which is technically older, despite being clocked higher. I think this is similar to the old GHz battle, the 400 MHz CPU in the TyTN might just be more efficient per clock cycle. Also the fact that the Advantage is dealing with VGA might pose a potential slowdown, knowing HTC and their shenanigans.

LOLOL....Actually my TyTN II is MUCH faster than my KJam and does not seem to suffer from some of the problems experienced by many here.
I took a video clip on Sunday and it is almost flawlessly smooth.

Kinda cruel but true :D

No no no, what I said was that Tytn II is outperforming the "ASS" out of the Advantage!
And yes the advantage has an Intel(R) PXA270 cpu clocked at 624 MHz!
If I compare the two devices my advantage is running as poorly as the Tytn II on that video, while my Tytn II is running as smooth as silk!
As I said, if I only had a camera I would upload so everyone could see!
I will try to get a hold of one as soon as possible!

Man, do you realize you are comparing a VGA device w/ a QVGA device? (which need to handle 4x the pixels than QVGA device). If you just talk about responsiveness and overall speed, my P525 (Xscale 416mzh) and x51v (xScale 612mzh w/ 2700G video accelerator) simply blows my Tilt away.
