It's been fun folks, but it's time I moved on. These ROMs have been left here for historical purposes only. No further changes or support will be provided.


this rom and every rom can be UC compliant (see post #2)

Cube v6.01 has been uploaded, with v6.01 Lite, Clean & UltraClean to follow within the next couple of days. Make sure to see post #2 for cube beta bugs & fixes.

UltraClean to Lite ROMs differ from my previous ROMs because I decided to leave out all the touch skins. These will be present in the fuller ROMs (Multimedia - Cube).

If you have any suggestions for the fuller ROMs (Multimedia - Cube), please post them before I release them, and I'll see if I can add it. I will be adding similar packages found in my previous ROMs, found on Alex's v5.2 ROM wiki (http://wiki.xda-developers.com/index.php?pagename=Alex%27s%20ROMs)

The only radio that works other than 1.65.17.10 (the radio from hell) is 1.65.14.06, which has been included by default in the v6.01 ROMs. You can find 1.65.14.06 radio only in the folders for v6.0.

I use Bepe's All-in-one RGU & DSM for a faster ROM and therefore cannot be extracted easily. The kitchen and all the extracted applications will be released a week after all the ROMs have been released.

Cube Beta v6.01 looks similar to the image below. Pocket CM has been removed in favor of HTC Random access. The dialer & PTT has been left as AT&T default for video sharing purposes. Batti has also been removed and was replaced with VistaHide Battery Gauge w/touch-like skin. Today Agenda has also been removed.

Unresolved issues
Backlight for keys disabled.
Send, start, ie, softkeys, mail, end and ok does not light up when pressed.
Source says this will be fixed in upcoming ROM build 19701.
Skype does not work
Softick Card Export II does not work
Tiny keys on dialpad = mispressed numbers
Press key in center, or try re-aligning screen. It's one of the things we have to deal with for video sharing.
I'm looking for alternative skins that work with this dialer.
Voice Command button not mapped properly

Radio not to bad.

Just had a 46 min phone conversation. Battery went from a 86% to 82% in a EDGE coverage area.

...and while driving home the phone conversation that I was having didn't drop at the normal spot.

...but I still want to be able to change this radio :D

I'm confused about your post... This ROM is released w/o a radio, meaning you can flash this and use any WM6.1 radio.

As for wanting to try out the radio that did ship with the original ROM, it's very ill advised :D

I wonder if its because I don't have any type of camera on my Tilt NC that it doesn't work on mine. I know on regular ROMs that do have a camera that I load and push the camera button on it normally brings up the Picture Viewer.

I tried searching for a solution and I could not find anything to fix it. I know there was a program to control the LEDs but I wonder if it does anything for keys?

Cannot start skype is the error message I receive when starting. Anyone know of a fix? :) Added to the list of known issues in post #2.

No idea, doesn't seem like it's used at all, but AT&T likes to toss it in. You can toss it in yourself into your \windows directory.

No idea as I wasn't able to find the hex offsets.

If Alltheway's post was correct from another thread, assuming that 101MB = 12MB page pool and this ROM has 85MB, I'd guess that ( 101-85 ) + 12 = 28MB page pool, by default, thanks to AT&T...

*edit* I'll try calculating the page pool based upon this knowledge and see if I can find the string in the nk.exe and OS.NB.

Just installed the Lite rom, found a few bugs i think.

1. No COnnection Auto Setup as listed in the post
2. The wifi button on my keyboard (FN + OK) doesnt activate wifi.
3. SDAUtorun doesnt seem to run, if i run it manually from the windows folder it works, but it isnt called by the main autoconfig scripts at first boot.

I've seen this behavior work fine on UltraClean, Clean & Cube, but I haven't flashed Lite... I'll look into it
Wifi button works fine on an AT&T Tilt, you'll probably need the TyTN II Keyboard fix & registry edit found in the wiki.
I think Sleuth255 explained why in another thread, I'll give his fix a try for the bug fix versions.Thanks!

There shouldn't be any major problems from what I've heard with my v5 ROMs. Just make sure to install the TyTN II keyboard fix found in my ROM wiki.

There are bugs as the cube is beta (see post #2).

I'm not really sure what radio this is compatible with, since I'm one of the folks stuck on the bad radio. Based upon the lack of complaints, I'd assume it's compatible with everything thus far.

No cab yet, sorry. The reason why is because the app itself has some protection measures which can be ROM specific, so even if I was to release a cab, it wouldn't work on most ROMs.

Actually, before you hard reset, what radio are you using? This build hasn't been out long enough to test for radio compatibility, but now that almost everyone has a ROM built with it, I'm sure that will change soon :D

I accidentally cooked in the bogus camera.lnk used in UltraClean in Clean & Lite. The other problem is, Nadavi's camera cab doesn't include a lnk, which is why it doesn't fix the problem...

Use total commander or resco explorer to modify camera.lnk to camera.exe in \windows\appbuttons and in \windows until I can get a cab fix out. I'll post it as an attachment in this thread and in post #2.

SD Config 2.0 is the UC application, but from what i've heard, it's broken on this ROM. You need to run the process manually from \windows via File Explorer or it's equivalent.

Alternatively, SDConfig can just be thrown into a cab and run that way too. I'll attach that cab to this post and put it into my list of fixes.

*edit* Run the attached cab from \windows\start menu\programs. This can be used on any ROM that isn't UC compliant too and run at any time, not just on hard reset.

Batti was written for WM5, why it doesn't work on WM6 is pure speculation, and the author refuses to respond to emails about it.

The screenshots are from v5.2, which had batti. I'll create new screenshots next week when I release or find a VistaHide Battery Gauge cab. :D

I accidentally cooked in the bogus camera.lnk used in UltraClean in Clean & Lite. The other problem is, Nadavi's camera cab doesn't include a lnk, which is why it doesn't fix the problem...

Use total commander or resco explorer to modify camera.lnk to camera.exe in \windows\appbuttons and in \windows until I can get a cab fix out. I'll post it as an attachment in this thread and in post #2.

Anyone have an idea on this? Only posting in this thread as it could be related to the ROM cooking technique Alex uses and any input by him would be valued. And, it does relate to his ROM after all.

I'm using OWA Sync with the Microsoft Exchange server at work (This uses ActiveSync.) As seen in attached screenshot, I can't "clear my E-Mails".

This deletes them from Outlook Mobile without deleting them off the exchange server. This allows me to keep my Inbox tidy.

This works fine on Stock ATT/HTC ROM's, but usually does not in most cooked ROM's.

I was hoping Alex's ROM would differ. Wondering if the base devel ROM most devs use here has a bugged Mobile Outlook?

(Obligatory Note: Willing to Paypal $10 USD for their time involved in guiding me to a fix for this specific issue. Paypal'd when issue fixed essentially. It's been hell and Google isn't too helpful with about 2 instances of this problem with unrelated causes. Probably best to PM me here.)

I also noticed (might be the Radio - I too am stuck with the new Radio) that my connection to exchange although active sync says it's connected doesn't seem to automatically sync e-mails and all the exchange items. If I manually ask it to sync it works fine but no by itself.

Is anyone else experiencing this? Maybe a fix outhere? I have checked shedule settings in active sync and my peak tims say "As items arrive" and my Off-peak times same the same. I have also tried it with send/receive when I click send checked and unchecked.

Depending on what you want to replace, this can be done with a registry editor. Make sure to have Comm Manager off.
To replace Beam (aka IR or Bluetooth OBEX)
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\Software\HTC\CommManager\3
from Default="IR" to Default="AUTD"
To replace ActiveSync
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\Software\HTC\CommManager\4
from Default="Activesync" to Default="AUTD" Hope this helps!

GPS works fine in Cube beta, which is pretty much UltraClean with a bunch of apps installed on top of it. Wonder what radio you're using?

Keyboard skin is attached. Unzip the file, toss it into your device's \windows directory and soft-reset.

Is there a way to completely uninstall BatteryStatus? I'm trying to use the Aurora Theme, and installing his version of BS crashed the phone and makes it unusable, and for some reason the version in the ROM doesn't like his theme.

Thanks for the assist. I had it in with 5.2, but there were too many complaints about it, so I've left it out in 6.0, as partially noted above the screenshots. If you want the theme, you can find it in my 5.2 rom thread.

That may have been a problem with 3.02, but not this rom. All of the registry changes from that file are in, they're just not showing. Need to figure out why of all the HTC control panel elements, only Schap's Long press end key works.

After some testing different software I realised my Softick Card Export II does not function with this ROM. But its not fault of Alex. I tried the full ATT version of this ROM and it was broke there also.

Anyone know what files from the OS this relies on? Maybe something we can patch with files from a previous ROM.

I went back and tried the NoThrills ROM from when I remembered I last used it and it does work so its not the file I was using. I even got the latest version off Softicks site and the same thing.

Other than this one (potentially big) problem the UltraClean ROM that Alex did has been pretty good for my needs.

I'm not sure if this is a bug with the ROM but I'm using the Lite version and after I make a call (hit the end key) I get either some static-ish noise or no sound coming from the phone's earpiece (not the speaker on the back). When I try to place another call after the first call the noise or silence will persist and I won't be able to hear a ringtone or the other person talking. It only goes away when I soft-reset the phone, but its annoying having to do it after every call. I'm using the 1.64.08.21 Radio ROM but I don't think that's the problem since everything else seems to work (music/sound/camera).

As mentioned in the first post:

These ROMs do not contain a radio. If you are upgrading from WM6.0, you will need to download a WM6.1 radio, found on the sticky or wiki. Please note that I actually don't know what radio is best with this ROM, as I'm one of the few who are stuck on 1.65.17.10. Based upon the lack of complaints, I assume that this ROM works fine with other radios.

yea Alex, just include the radio 14.06 in your rom. Theres only two choices here and if they are stuck with 17.10, then the 14.06 wouldn't flash over. No more complaints about their radio not working.

If you're not using AT&T, make sure to run programs/comm/proxy manager/disable proxy.

The less files you have within \windows, the better it is for file operations. In a typical ROM, there are 100+ of these files. So with 100 less files, it means there are less files in the FAT, resulting in increased lookup times.

Rebuilt from scratch (again) and forgot to turn off hrsa permissions on the files before creating a ROM.

The skin for the phone dialer is missing. Everything else looks as it does in your screen shots, but the phone is showing up with the windows default (Blue) skin.

Hello Alex,

As always, I am a fan of your ROMs. Got an issue though, hopefully you might know something or someone might have a quick response.

I updated my phone to your new cube ROM with radio. It seems to be slow, and when the AT&T Configure screen comes up it trys and then finally says "Error Database".

So I figured, guess it messed up, will try again (I was going to try the lite one this time though). Unforunately now my phone wont sync either, active sync says "ActiveSync can not connect to the Windows Mobile powered Device. To troublshoot click ok"

Any thoughts? Do I need to look at the brick post or am I just stuck somewhere I can get out of?

Edit: I was going to look into trying MTTY but that wont connect either, it doesn't reconize my device as a USB device either...hmmm...Any thoughts? Anything would be appreciated, hahaha my addiction to ROMing has gotten the better of me, I am on call with this phone :)

Alex spoke to this in his wiki. The screen shots are from his v5 roms sadly. The new video share feature on the 6.1 at&t rom is somehow tied to the dialer. Until someone can figure out how to extract the videoshare and allow it for another dialer we are stuck with the default dialer. I am in the same boat as wanting a new dialer - yet i don't want to give up vid share. Hope this helps.

Try redownloading the rom again, do a hard reset on the "press anywhere to continue" at the first prompt after the install, and then go through the normal config. This should fix any outstanding issues. If not, then someone with more knowledge will have to chip in :)

Thanks, unfortunately I am either missing something key you said or I have already been tried and doesn't work. I cannot do a hard reset on this ROM since Alex has it automatically formatting during the install. I cant switch the ROM since I can't active sync either :(. If I missed something let me know, I might be going crazy right now

when you first do a flash on a rom it makes you go through and do the touch screen config, setting the copy paste things, setting of passwords.... all this is before it goes through the customization parts... before you do any of that the phone boots to the windows mobile splash with "Tap the screen to set up your Windows Mobile - based device." at that point do the hard reset...

Good luck, if that does not work, the only thought i would have would be on that same point that i am telling you to do the hard reset, the "tap the screen....." try plugging it into the computer at that point and see if activesync will recognize it so that you can put a fresh downloaded version of the rom on it at that point. If that doesn't work you are beond me my friend.

gadgetdad and I have both encountered an issue with the new CUBE. Reazd the past two pages for this issue, but I would not recommend downloading it from 4share until resolved. I am not sure if all uploaded locations are broke, but it will be an issue for you. Alex, any light on what caused this? Also, the light version works fine for me.

Flashing now to check. If this is a bad version, it's most likely due to all the other crap I had running when I remade this ROM.

Try this cab, it is the retouched dialer Alex uses, if it ends up messing something else up that i don't forsee just uninstall the cab and soft reset :)

Yea i will take the drop for this one, i appreciate the attempt to help me out in getting a personal splash screen here. I didn't think it was going to turn into what it did. Thanks for all you do, i guess i will have to use the standard 6.1 splash :) hehe.

Didn't find out what happened, just rolled back to the previous version.

Flying to Cali tomorrow to start packing up for a cross country move. I won't be working on ROMs for awhile, so I wanted to make sure that everyone, including myself, had a nice stable ROM w/no major bugs.

Nice! My family did something similar-ish last year. Moved from Norther VA (just outside of DC) to Colorado. Much nicer in terms of....well...just about everything. Financial, weather, people, etc. Best move we could have made.

Anyone have an idea on this? Only posting in this thread as it could be related to the ROM cooking technique Alex uses and any input by him would be valued. And, it does relate to his ROM after all.

I'm using OWA Sync with the Microsoft Exchange server at work (This uses ActiveSync.) As seen in attached screenshot, I can't "clear my E-Mails".

This deletes them from Outlook Mobile without deleting them off the exchange server. This allows me to keep my Inbox tidy.

This works fine on Stock ATT/HTC ROM's, but usually does not in most cooked ROM's.

I was hoping Alex's ROM would differ. Wondering if the base devel ROM most devs use here has a bugged Mobile Outlook?

(Obligatory Note: Willing to Paypal $10 USD for their time involved in guiding me to a fix for this specific issue. Paypal'd when issue fixed essentially. It's been hell and Google isn't too helpful with about 2 instances of this problem with unrelated causes. Probably best to PM me here.)

Have you tried to use the Clear email while connected via active sync? I have noticed that any email accounts that are automatically setup by the system do not have Clear Email as a usable option. If I setup the email account, then it does. (I setup my AOL email, and can use the option, the phone setup the outlook and msn hotmail accounts and I don't have the option for both).

I would swear it did at some point but can't be sure, and now it DEFINITELY isn't working. No matter what settings I put in Notifications (Ring, Ring Once, Vibrate then Ring, etc.) it won't do it. It will do the vibrating if that is part of the notification but it will not make any noise. All other alerts sound exactly as they are supposed to and are quite audible. I can preview the ring and it works fine, just not when anyone actually calls me. Any ideas?

If you have voice command and phone notification set to on then this could be the cause if the caller is unknown or private.

Hey ya'll! Alex, great work. I had some issues on my first flash, but after some radio tweeks, I got the full Cube working with the keypad fixer!


Continuing Issue(s)

Keypad does not lock when on call. Meaning when I'm on a call, and I hit the power button to blank the screen, buttons can still get pressed, most noticably the volume scroll. Now I'm not complaining because there are ROM's out there that haven't figured out how to get the scroll wheel to control the volume properly, I just didn't ever have to worry about hitting keys or dialing a second number by accident before... so if there is a quick tip to help me out, that'd be awesome!
The "Send" buttons normally brings up a recent call log, but it doesn't in this instance. Again, no complaints, just didn't know if that could be tweeked.
Finally, the display text on the bottom of the phone in "Home Screen" view read "Organizer" and "Contacts". Its really not an issue because when you hit "Organizer" it brings up the "Create New..." options.


Other than that... this is one of the hottest ROM's I've used yet. Took some time to get it running, but man this baby is sweet!

Also! Having worked for AT&T up until... well... last month... I know they switched the TeleNav program to AT&T Navigator. Same program, but it connects differently. You'll notice, if you use the TeleNav supplied by this ROM, it wont connect. My advice is to not install it and go to the OTA.Telenav.com from your browser and download the new app for AT&T users.

Old issue: the start menu program only intermittently works.
The memory program does not show running programs; how do you close a process.
Phone ringer: "Ring-Standard .wma" is corrupt or unavailable.
Phone ringer: "Ring-WindowsMobile" is corrupt or unavailable.
In a call, the screen does not turn off (or dim).
The screen does not react well with the stylus, even after re-calibrating.
Need to set: HKLM\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Today\ AutoSingleLineDatePlugin = dword:00000001

I only recently arrived into the world of cooked roms, and I have to say I like it. So far I have tried Dutty's hybrid and this rom. In a n00by comparison, I have to say I like this one better. However, I have encountered a few issues that I would like to ask the community.

In the photo album in Alex's rom, the pictures are oriented in such a way that it does not utilize the entire screen. like, a picture will be shrunken so it can fit portrait style. I know it possible to rotate the photo with a sweep of the finger, but this gets tired some as I try to do it for all the photos. In this respect, I like dutty's version much more as it starts up in a landscape orientation and all the pictures are also in landscape automatically. I am guessing that this is a simple setting change, but I cannot find where to change this. Can someone please help.
edit: It seems like the regular album viewer from the program menu works fine, so the only problem is how to change the cube settings. When I try to open touch settings, I am told "cannot read existing settings-is HTC Touch FLO installed?" And it obviously is as I am able to play with the cube and do other touch flo tasts.

A general issue for the HTC music player: the library is not manageable. Along with all my music on my SD card, it also adds a bunch of other music files that are from games or other applications. I cannot figure out how to specify the library. Can some one help out on this?

Finally, I just wanted to report that every so often the start menu will not be the normal start menue, but a nasty green kind without all the buttons. This doesn't happen very frequently as to bother me, but I just wanted to say something as I also had issues with wisbar advanced in which it would sometimes revert back to the regular menu instead of the wisbar kind.

The first couple of kitchens and ROMs was fun, but now it's just old hat. On top of that, most of the kitchen tools are written for Windows and I've recently decided to get back to my *nix roots by installing Linux as my primary OS on all my servers, workstation & laptop.

So with that said, for the foreseeable future, I'd say I'm done.
