Will test it out and report back. Seems to work very well so far.
I'm going to make a trip across the USA soon so I hope this radio works better as they keep switching me off cell towers.

I have beed using this radio for about a week already haven't had n e issuse as of yet. In fact I have seen some boost in my signal. at work I usually have crapy signal and since upgrading; in places where i had no signal I now noticed I have a few bars to work with.

Could be T-Mo was on the fritz when I started testing. This 3G in NYC is wrecking the network from time to time. Major slow does in EDGE service.

just flashed this earlier and the download speeds with edge are faster than with the old radio... downloaded trans new rom straight to my wing in about 30 min for 41mb not bad... plus some of my outlook emails came thru all of a sudden... and wing temperature is more stable while using edge... before it would heat up to about 106degrees....

I would really like to test this out on my wing but I am lost as to how to flash this to my device. Ive flashed my device and Im running the Touch-IT - Touched Vista Beta ROM, so I know I did something right if I was able to flash my device.
Ive read that you are supposed to download the file and extract it to the RUU folder, however there isnt an RUU folder for that ROM that I downloaded. Can anyone point me in the right direction to install this? THANKS!

OK now I feel kind of stupid, that was really easy to do.
I have noticed that I do get better reception and battery life, although I have still been noticing a problem whenever I slide my keyboard open. Whenever I start typing more than 15 or so words, I loose my signal by 3 bars or completely. Anyone else noticing or having this?

However you flashed Touch-IT. Remove the nbh file in that folder. Replace with this nbh file. Flash it like you did Touch-IT. Done.

I also got this error. As you do not specify anything about your device I can't be certain, but you are probably running Battery Status. Disable that before you flash(remove it from the today screen via setting -> personal -> today) and it should flash fine.
As for me, I find this radio version more reliable and less battery consuming that 03.12.90.

I meant that you did not state which programs your device runs, so I couldn't be sure that you used battery status or not.
I have just one last question, when you used flash center, did you run a full flash (using the herald-uspl.exe) or did you just run the update utility(RomUpdateUtility.exe)?
If you just ran RomUpdateUtility, then that is probably why it didn't work, if you did use herald-uspl then the file is probably corrupt and you should just redownload and try again.
Hope this helps.

definitely an improvement in speed, but this seems to be at the cost of reduced battery life. I am observing a higher drain with Active Sync running all the time...

Very nice NBH. I can also confirm an improvement over call clarity (no background buzz or hiss), battery life, and GPRS speeds. The signal strength is already perfect in my area so I won't be able to notice imrpovement in this category. I am currently using Open Touch 4.0 Biggy (VC no Cube) that originally came with 03.12.90

I upgraded my rom earlier but didn't have time to test it until now. Signal seems to be the same. I did the mobile speed test. On the first run I got 116 kbps. I cleared the cash and got 180. I thought it was odd so I ran a third test and got 199 (cleared cache beforehand). With the previous rom I had gotten 170 but had been consistently getting 147 lately. I did't do the speed test before the upgrade so, I don't know if my outcome really is an indication of faster edge speeds.

You don't need to convert the file, it's already in .nbh format that you can flash to your phone. Dutty's NBH tool is used to extract the .nb files from .nbh files.
If your file is a .php you probably had a download error, try to redownload and check that the file is .nbh, then you can just flash it to your phone like you would a ROM.

I have very low WiFi signal.
Which radio is the best for WiFi?
Thanks.
nuron

I think Wifi just depends on the router itself and how far you're away from the signal, if there's any interference between the phone and that signal such as walls and stuff like that.

Just downloaded, going to flash now.
Haven't tested everything yet, but it appears as if battery drain is a bit lower (but this could just be me) and the GPRS connection is definitly more stable and reliable. As I live in a well covered area I cannot say if the connection is better, but as the GRPS is, I assume that it is.

Some love it some not. I went back to to 3.18.90 as I get slightly higher battery drain with no noticeable reception increase.
Just try both versions out for some day and you know which one is best for you.
The good think about flashing Radio ROMs is that you don't have to re-setup your whole PPC.

It is only for preparing your device to make it HardSPL.
Just flash the Radio directly.

I'm using this radio as built into the OTP 6 lite (no SPB or TL). I thought for a moment that the rom enabled wifi by default because the EDGE was super fast. Turns out I still needed to enter the network key to connect to wifi.
End result? This radio works great for me, seems to have boosted the data speed... no, it isn't wifi fast, but faster than it was before.

Search for ROMUpdateUtility on your PC or in this forum.
Otherwise just download a ROM package from one of our cooks it should be in there, too

I've had this radio version for about a week now and all I can say is that it sucks. I live in the Los Angeles area.
During this whole week, my signal bars dropped to 1 bar where I could get 4 from the previous radio rom.
The battery depleted more quickly too. My battery was 100% after charging around 12pm. Skip to 30min later it had dropped to 79%. By 4pm it was already down to 38%. All I ever did during this time period was texting or making about 3 short phone calls.
In addition to that, my phone recieved several missed call notifications but I never heard it ring.
So now Ive switched back to my old radio rom and everything is back to normal.

I've noticed this with my WIng also, but definitely not just with this ROM. JUst theorizing, but I think that your hand covers the antenna when the keyboard is open, reducing the signal strength. Might only happen when your using certain frequency bands.
Speaking of which, how can I tell which GSM band my phone is using at any given time, trying to get a correlation between some weird behavior on the Wing (and another HTC phone) and frequencies being used.

Battery life seems to be about the same I do appear to get a bar or two more while travelling outside the city and at my workplace which has always had problem coverage.
While roaming from my TMO USA network to others (AT$T and another local carrier) in northeast and north central Pennsylvania, this ROM definitely performs better. These areas have frequently been troublesome for my Wing on older ROMS.

Wow, I was stuck in a major newb moment until I realized this was exactly what I was doing wrong. Thanks.:D

Hi there!
Will this version DEFINITELY increase my battery life from 03.12.90?
My herald has a 6 hour battery life as is and every minute counts
Thanks

I was wondering, will this change the whole rest of my rom that's flashed on the phone or just the radio itself?

Tried 21 and it drains the battery like nobody's business. I'm gonna switch back to 18 to check if it is a better balance between stable signal and battery performance. If only we could calibrate that with a UI screen.
Is anyone game for a calibrated radio output? (to clarify, will one of the generous geniuses consider this as an idea?)

So now Ive switched back to my old radio rom and everything is back to normal.
how long did your battery last before up put in the new radio
