FINALLY I'VE DONE IT !!

AIRTEL LIVE! AND NOP (Net On Phone)

- the two GPRS services of AIRTEL in INDIA .... which were said as not to work on WINDOWS MOBILE handsets is no longer true !


BOTH OF THEM WORK AND WORK LIKE CHARM.. And now there is no need to waste money on MOBILE OFFICE - Airtel's other GPRS service which is very costly ....


THE SETTINGS ARE VERY SIMPLE AND CAN BE EASILY DONE WITH THE HELP OF THE ATTACHED IMAGE/VIDEO....

BASIC POINTS TO NOTE::

1) Dont ask the Airtel Customer Care for settings for your Windows Mobile phone. - the only answer you will get is that NOP and Airtel Live! dont work on Windows Mobile handsets - absolute crap ..... those people dont know anything and want u to spend more by taking MOBILE OFFICE.

2) For Activating Airtel Live!, send SMS :: MASALA ACTIVE to 121

3) For Activating NOP, send SMS :: WAP1 ACTIVE to 121

4) The services will get activated in 4 working hours

5) Till then put on the settings as shown in the video, and restart your phone after 4 hrs of sending sms

6) Open IE or any other browser and Enjoy!!!

7) THE VIDEO SHOWS SETTINGS FOR NOP.... if you want AIRTEL LIVE!, then the only change is that the ACCESS POINT (APN) is : airtelfun.com



THIS VIDEO IS FROM THE HTC VOX a.k.a HTC S710 .... BUT I AM DAMN SURE THAT ALL OTHER WINDOWS MOBILE HANDSETS WILL HAVE SIMILAR SETTINGS ....

Airtel is the biggest network operator in India.
you cannot try this if you are not in India :D

- "Connect to" as "Work" in GPRS and
- "Connect Form" as "Work" and "Connect to" as "Internet" in Proxy.

Thanks again, but i have a concern:
Although IE is detecting my settings fine, none of the other applications like "Windows Live" and "WebMessenger" is detecting my data connection.
It says: "Cannot establish connection". Please help me out.:confused:

1) Make sure again that u r exactly doing as i have shown

2) Make sure ur NOP is active (ask customer care if its active... tell him u have some nokia phone)

3) Delete all other settings other than NOP

4) Restart phone after everyhtin

To all not able to browse even after NOP Proxy - my suggestion is don't use default or any other browser. Use UCWEB6.3 JAVA browser (english) version translated by mannu or nasir or akushah and you will be able to browse smoothly.

I have tried in IE but I could only open Google and Yahoo sites.

Select WAP Network, that should do. Hope you are using NOP and not Live! because live is trash :D.

The best option will be to note down the settings from your Nokia handset and manually enter them into your WM Device. Basically WM device doesn't allow downloading of these settings for security reason. AirTel did try to send them, but did not succeed.
Or you can try network setup wizard, after you are through, restart your device and delete "Mobile Office" connection. That should do .

1) The sms's are :

For NOP- WAP1 ACTIVE

For Airtel Live- MASALA ACTIVE

type msg with the space in between two words..

2) Check if ur services are activated by putting the sim in other phone..
3) Always use only one internet profile.. either NOP or Airtel Live .. dont have two profiles simultaneously .. delete which ever other profiles are there..

4) set the NOP profile as i have shown in the video and tell me the progress..

AirTel customer support is a piece of *$%#, if you know what I mean. If you are a post paid customer, then ask them to activate NOP. However, if you are a prepaid customer, then you have to make a e - recharge for activating NOP, their sales counter will be able to help you. However, I would strongly suggest you to go to an AirTel shop, if you can allot some time. Thats the fastest way. I have been using AirTel for a few years now, and I know how their customer care is!

Do this:

1- If u are sure ur airtel live is active..in ur HTC, do as i have shown in the video..but the video shows NOP settings.. u just need to change the APN to airtelfun.com for airtel live..
I've mentioned all this in my first post clearly..


2- Put ur sim in ur nokia phone.. Take it to a good Airtel office .. ask them to activate NOP for u.. then once its activated, u can put the sim back into ur HTC
