Hi I would like to ask all of you orbit 2 users out there.
I own one and its giving me a great headache because of the screen. I mean it physically. Cause of the screen.
I use the screen under normal room lighting so no bright sunlight or anything but when i try to watch movies or take photos in landscape mode I would notice a very bad discolored view when I am watching anything in landscape mode.
Also when in potrait mode, the discolored view will occur when I look at it from a slight top-down angle. I hate that . Is this suppose to be normal for all the other orbit 2 or am I just the "luck" one ?
REally need to sort this out, love this phone but this problem is giving me loads of headache. Practically killing me slowly,, any advice or help would be greatly appreciated?
Thank you.
PS. I have just passed the 28 days exchange period , so no hope of getting it exchanged. Hope I can get it fixed from o2 but I read somewhere that there is no replacement screen out in the market yet.

Sorry buddy, I don't have any of the problems you're talking about.
I know a lot of people complain that their phone is giving us headaches with no drivers but not literally. Your phone should not be giving you physical headaches.
Also watching a movie on that screen can't be too good. In my opinion it's too small to concentrate on for long periods of time. I have never watched anything on there for more than 10 minutes.

Hi thanks for the reply,
I see you own a HTC Touch Cruise. I have a slightly different model although I know they are the same.
But the screen is different for orbit 2. I have know touch cruise to have not known such problems. But seriously dude, this screen of orbit 2 is way too different for proper viewing. I am not someone who asks alot or have high expectation out of my phone. But if you have seen it it would be unacceptable by any standards.
Also i have compared a touch cruise with mine orbit 2. The differences is unbelieveable.
Thanks for the reply.

I raised this issue when I first got my Orbit 2 http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=367550
I've read somewhere that the Orbit 2 and TC use different screens with the Orbit having crappy viewing angles

Thanks for your comment.
I see now that my worse fear is coming true. Guess until I see more response, I will still try to hope that is only a few isolated cases that the orbit 2 has a viewing angle problem.
Hopefully more orbit 2 users will give me their feedback.
Will keep my finger crossed until then.
Really love this phone. First phone I really grown into it. Dun do this to me.

I have found the same problem in certain situations... but If I view with the wheel to the left the screen is fine... Viewing angle is like an old-aged TFT but still... it's clear and viewable straight on.
with the wheel to right (Camera default due to button position) the screen puts a lot of strain on my eyes with or without glasses... just seems like it's blurred but it's not...
For vids.... use CorePlayer... default full screen seems to be with the wheel to the left.
And thankfully my fav game Worms is a wheel to left game.

Hi phil,
thanks so much for sharing with me. I understand this pain you face with orbit 2. Movies or surfing the net or even taking pictures kills u. Did you do anything about it? complain to o2 or send it back to them for repairs ?
cause I am close to sending it back. I just cant bear to be without a orbit 2 for weeks. As you know repairs takes weeks or even months. So I will send it only as my last option.
Also is there a free coreplayer I can download from somewhere to try out whether it works on my phone before I buy it ? I cant find it anywhere and everyone been saying good things about them. Saying they fix the video issue we have caused by HTC whom didnt provide the proper driver for us.
Thanks,

Hi,
I noticed the same problem the very 1st time I used my Orbit2 in landscape. In portrait mode, if you watch the screen as you move your viewing angle up and down you can really see haw much this screen varies. So when you view in landscape, with each eye seeing the same part of the screen differently it gets really uncomfortable and hard to focus on.
In portrait the screen is ok (much better than my old MDA compact) but in landscape its worse!

No, I've kept mine... apparently it takes a while on the repairs turn around so I try for over-phone fixes... But I doubt there will be a fix for the dodgy LCD unit in these...

TCMCP or something named to that effect... What CorePlayer apparently derived from. Although the codec support is better that built in media players it really makes no difference to playback.
CorePlayer does however playback 320x240 Xvid and Divx AVI with mp3 audio at 400kbps bitrate and 15fps fine (hence my MSDHC is now full of Family Guy)
CorePlayer is worth paying for... I demo'd it via a torrent download first as I couldn't find an actual demo/trial and was sceptical but have since purchased a licence/key meaning all is legal :D
And I don't recommend or condone any illegal downloads! even if for a short period that was hypocritical .

Guess I will have to wait until there is sort of a third party upgrade LCD unit available for orbit 2.

Cool , sound pretty powerful with it. But still the orbit 2 is not good for watching videos with their lousy LCD.
Just tot of this question below,
Any suggestion where I can sell it off and get a touch cruise from ? except on ebay.. sorry dun like using them.
I agree with you in paying for it. CAuse I do some programming work here and there. I understande the pain of your work being pirated.
Thanks for the info, guess I will have to source out coreplayer and give it a go. And see if it works well.
