Dialer area code location

I noticed on the new rom I have a cool feature on the dialer. When I dial a number, the phone recognizes the area code, and writes the location of the number I'm calling. It even recognizes Canada. Here is a screenshot.

Now, I'm always trying to one-up my iphone buddies, and they showed me what they have on their dialer. Here is a screenshot.

It seems I've been one-upped this time!

Can someone modify our dialer to show the area calling, and better yet, make it so it shows the same thing when receiving a call? That would be great!

The is the ROM I currently have: NO2Chem nueROM v2.0 Build 5060

I believe the dialer is the Touch Clone Dialer. I've attached the cab file if you want to try (I'm pretty sure this is the one I installed).

I believe mine is the standard Titan dialer with the BlueFrog skin, and mine shows the area too! :) I never noticed it before.

Oh, I guess it comes with WM6/6.1? Not sure, but when I noticed it, that was cool! But I would very much like to have this for incoming calls, and to show locations (as the iPhone does).

I wonder how I got it. Try installing the dialer I attached above. Maybe that will work. I'm not sure though.

yea that's what i did... i mean i don't have to have it show areas, but it's cool! ahaha

Wow, so I wonder how I got it, lol. It's really cool, and it would be a GREAT feature if someone (whoever did it in the first place) can make it work the way the iphone dialer works, and if they can make it work for incoming calls.

I use my phone for business, and I can't memorize all the area codes. So it would be great if I can know where the call is coming from.

I know, wouldn't that be great?! the iPhone pic I posted above has it for outgoing calls. That would be cool if we can have it for outgoing and incoming.

whats everyone carrier info. i know alot of ppl with sprint phones that do that... are the people who have it working on sprint? cause im on verizon. installed that dialer, and not getting that info.

Mine works on Sprint too. It only shows the area after you enter the last (10th) number.

I'm on verizon too and no dice with area code display. Must be something in the Sprint customizations.

so now that we know its not the dialer that does it. the next step is for someone to tell us how we might be able to get it to work on vzw...

I have the Mogul with the latest official ROM, if I install the dialer CAB that you shared, will it work ok? I would like to upgrade the original mogl dialer with this one but I dont want to turn my phone into a paperweight!!! :D

If this is not the way to do this, can anyone help me with some instructions? I tried searching but I only find the dialers for the cooked ROMs...

Al,

Just run the cab in post 3. It wont hurt your phone and you can uninstall it if you don't like it.

just put the cab file on your sd card and run from the phone.
You are not doing anything immoral, unethical or illegal.

Using DCD 3.0.1 with vogue dialer on Sprint.

It displays the state after a matching contact is found. As I dial the number it begins filtering contacts by matching numbers/contacts with the dialed numbers. I believe it will display a state when dialing out, but will only will display the state of the current matching contact if that information is stored. Ex: Nathan lives in Illinois, so after I dial 6(N)2(A)8(T)4(H) his number is displayed along with state information. If I dial 1(224) this will also match his contact info to the numbers dialed and display Illinois. If I were to dial another state which no one in my contacts has a number I won't get the State displayed until after I dial all 10 numbers.

Ok now that I have this new skin, I am having some problems with the #1 button. For some reason it doesnt show like in the pictures that Whiteblazer01 posted. On mine the #1 button looks like an empty square that you can still see what was behind it... I have the HTC home plug in and when press the phone button to get the dialer, I can still see part of the home plug in... I don't know if im making any sense, so let me post a picture of my home screen and then one when I press the phone button...

Can someone explain how to fix this?? :(

I found the answer how to fix this by doing a simple change in the registry...
