This is really exciting stuff!!! unfortunately i won't be able to try this out until 1 month later as my N560 is critical to my daily routine until then (which is also when i'll be finally giving WM6 a go).
Been waiting for this for a long time... any more info? supported capacity? restrictions? compatibility?

GreateVK,
Will this work on an N560 with the original WM5 ROM, please?
Or does it have to be WM6 or WM6.1?
Thanks...

Thank you master2048 for answering my second question.
But has anyone got it working on an N560 with the original ROM?
Does it install to main (user re-writable) memory or does it change a portion of the ROM image? If the former, then it might be possible to try it on WM5 devices and then revert by uninstalling the patch if it does not work...

Thanks you for your reply.
And I can confirm that it works on my N560 with original WM5 ROM too.
I bought a 16Gb SDHC and WiFi works too. And ordinary SDs still work fine.
Excellent..... this has given my N560 a new lease of life.
Many thanks to GreateVK and XDA Developers. Brilliant work.

can anyone comment on the speed of using SDHC? is it really able to sustain the Class speeds? cuz currently my Transcend 4GB 150x non-SDHC is really slow, but I know it's partly the card's problem.

I have a Integral Class 4 16Gb SDHC. It is hard to say if it is any quicker than the Transcend (which I was using before applying the SDHC patch). I agree the Transcend was not zippy. But the Class 4 SDHC seems very fast. It is obviously imited by the Loox addressing/reading speed and therefore may not be able to take fulladavantage of the potential higher transfer speeds.
However, the few tests I have been able to run e.g. copying 8Gb of stuff on from a PC to the SDHC card in the free card reader that came with mine, was very quick. And there were thousands of files... large 300Mb plus and lots of small ones circa 1Mb. Also video playback on TCPMP was just the same as with SD cards - this would be a good test of sustained transfer rate....
So the performance in my judgement is the same and possibly better.

I've installed this SDHC driver on my N560 with Team's 777 WM 6 ROM and so far so good :) . But I'm using a regular SD 2 GB. Now that I can get a large SD I may go for 8 GB :) .

Aftter Hard Reset, the SDHC driver is gone. My N560 did not recognized the 8GB SDHC card any more. I had to reload the SDHC driver from the PC and only then I could activate my SPB Backup file.
Is there a way to add this driver in such a way that it will survive hard resets? Otherwise it will be a mess if someone needs to restore while being away from his PC
Please advice

I belive that there's an N560 ROM that has it built it. But you could carry a small capacity SD with a full backup, once you have it up and running you could put your SDHC again.

It may sound a bit trivial, but I'm using an old low capacity SD card (64MB !) for just having the driver stored there.
After a hard reset I would first use this SD card to install the driver, then using my (standard) HCSD.

Yes, that's what I'm doing too (low capacity SD with important system files).
But anyhow, is there a method to "burn" a driver into the existitng WM 6 ROM of N560?
Thanks

I managed to store the SDHC driver file (some 32KB) on my mobile phone memory (internal od memory card). Then by connecting via Bluetooth's file transfer profile, I can transfer the driver to my Hard Reseted N560 and continue from there. No need to carry an additional SD card (which can get lost easily), no need to access a PC and my phone is always with me.

There seems to be two versions, one with the GPS Fix built in and one without, but both the only support for standard SDs. Hence I have not tried either as I am waiting for a version with SDHC support. It can only be a short wait? I am sure it's on the cards?

Your suspicions may be right. I tried to return to what was quoted as "original" and it looked OK but it refused to sync properly without Outlook via AcitiveSync. It kept connecting as a Guest, and no amount of re-installing AS and deleting old partneships would work. This seemed a step backwards to me. So I persisted with the 018 WM6.1 release and after 3 days of trials and re-installing loads of my software and the SDHC patch and Broadcom thingy, I am content this is a good release and worthwhile, but its as ever, YOUR CHOICE.
I got suspicious that the battery seemed to be going down faster and that the procesor might be running at Turbo rather than Auto speed. But extensive tests with acbPowerMeter shows that the settings are having an effect. I just think that when you have made such a risky unsupported upgrade you become more nervous at any signs of worse performance.
But so far, I am gald I left WM5 behind. The incorporation of Quick GPS and LooxLight in the ROM image is great and helpful.
I mentioned in another thead that TCPM seemed to stop playing wma and wmv files but because it is an old program it was still looking for the codec dlls in the Windows folder. And good old Microsoft has renamed them. Copying the old dlls for wma and wmv made my favourite media player work on WM6.1. It is slao good that Mobile Office 6.1 coping with Office 2007 file formats (docx etc) is included in NewPlow's ROM image too, saving you memory. There seems to be a bit more room for programs in main memory, and this looks for me to be the biggest bonus.

This is great news (the SDHC driver). Just installed it on my N560 - just need to get hold of an SDHC card! :-)
Does anyone know if this would also work on an N500? Obviously, the WiFi aspect doesn't matter, but it would be handy to have SDHC capability on my wife's PDA...
Same hardware, so I suspect it *should* be OK, but just wondered if anyone out there knew for sure!
Cheers,

I suspect it will work as I was surprised to discover it worked on a Dell Axim 51 too. It seems to redirect the calls to the SD card handling in the operating system. It is worth trying because it installs as a program, therefore you can remove it if it doesn't work.

Who knows? I am just as confused as you!
But if you right click on the attachment on the very first post on this thread it will offer you "Open" as the first entry on the pop up menu. Right click and the cab file should be offered as a download. I have just done it again, no problem. The link still works. Try again!

This sounds great, have to check that out.
But concerning 16Gig SDHC Cards: What make did you guys buy? Remember back when there were 4Gig SDs out, I had alot of people post you should use either transcend or anothermake (I forget)... is it the same with the 16GB SDHC? Do you recommend some makes?
Haven't even started browsing for vendors yet (Switzerland),let me know what Card you guys use.
Thanks!

Well, I can add to the confirmations:
Running WM6.0 on N560. I installed this driver and bought an 8GB SDHC Class 4 card (from Expansys for ~£23 minus a £10 discount voucher!).
It is all working fine - WiFi is unaffected, and the card currently has ~6GB of data (TomTom maps for Europe and US&Canada, plus a few movies!).
I've not performed any data transfer tests, other than one empirical test - the result is that the card appears to work faster than my 4GB Transcend SD card (pretty rare 150x card!), so I'm a happy chappy. Cheaper cards with greater capacity are, at last, available to my device!
Many thanks to the engineers that made this possible. Great work.
Regards,
Bruisah.

I bought Integral 16Gb SDHC Class 4 and it works fine and is very fast indeed. It came with a free SDHC reader (like a USB memory stick, just plug the SDHC card in and XP recognises it as a disc drive, as usual). I got it here
http://www.lowpricememory.co.uk/16GB-SDHC-memory-card.html
It works brilliantly. I suspect that all the SDHC cards will probably work... the issue with 4Gb SDs was that because the SD spec was for 2Gb maximum, some manufacturers had worked out how to get devices (some!) to recognise twice the maximum with an addressing trick. Hence not all devices would see the extra capacity, and even those that would, did not "like" all manufacturer's cards. I bought both Transcend and another manufacturer's 4Gb SD cards and they all worked in a Loox N560. But I have a Konica Minolta camera which refuses to see the same 4Gb SDs. This N560 patch is excellent because it not only gives you access to SDHC but will also still operate those 4Gb SDs too.

What would you guys do:
I'm happy with my N560 and WM5... I'm going to install this SDcard patch.. should I also install WM6 while I'm at it? Really sorry for them newbish questions haven't followed whats out there AT ALL, so have no idea what WM6 even would bring as an advantage.
What I use it for:

40% Sound
20% Navigation
would you recomment to go to WM6, or just leave it be?

The advantages are small but there may be some that you could not do without? For example, the new version of Mobile Office to read and save the Office 2007 docs and spreadsheets in the new docx and html formats? The slightly more swish shaded today screen bars top and bottom. If you go for NewPlow's WM6.1 version 018 you get a lot of the FSC rubbish utilities taken out and lots of little goodies included in the ROM (LooxLight, Quick GPS, atomic clock synchronisation etc.). The wireless network handling is improved but this is due to microsoft's changes.
Like you, I nearly left my N560 at WM5 because the SDHC patch was what I really needed. And it worked just fine. But I must say that now I have upgraded I won't want to go back! The extras mean it is just about worth it.
My usage matches yours almost entirely, but the percentages are different. Video (2%), music (50%), GPS navigation (48%). I think it is worth it. If like me you use TCPMP and wma/wmv files then you will need to copy two dll codec files from WM5 to the new WM6.1 Windows folder. You can find instructions for this elsewhere on this thread.... and on this forum.
Hope you enjoy the 16Gb SDHC? Tis a good price, eh? And mine works just fine.

I assume you are using WM6.1?
The driver shouldn't affect apps. However iGo seems quite fussy? The applet just re-directs the calls to the SD card slot and runs its SDHC code . But normal SDs should work too.
So it maybe that if you are on WM6.1 you have to change the COM port settings to get GPS to work? The setting in "External GPS" need not be changed, but change you software to look for the right port. TomTom 6 under WM6.1 wants to be connected to the Hardware Port COM4 and refuses to work on the software port COM8. It should work on either but it too is "fussy".
But completely non-starting apps may be something different. Have you tried a Hard Reset followed by re-install of just iGo? Then set the right COM port....

An interesting benchmark I made a few minutes ago with Pocket Mechanic on my N560 running standard WM5:
without SDHC driver: SD card Transcend 4GB 150x
File System read unbuffered: 3,55 MB/s
File System read buffered: 3,86 MB/s
File System write unbuffered: 0,38 MB/s
File System write buffered: 2,13 MB/s
General operations/sec: 11,36
Performance index: 200,94
with SDHC driver: SD card Transcend 4GB 150x
File System read unbuffered: 3,65 MB/s
File System read buffered: 3,88 MB/s
File System write unbuffered: 0,38 MB/s
File System write buffered: 2,21 MB/s
General operations/sec: 12,42
Performance index: 206,27
with SDHC driver: SDHC card Sandisk 4GB Extreme III
File System read unbuffered: 3,76 MB/s
File System read buffered: 3,81 MB/s
File System write unbuffered: 2,86MB/s
File System write buffered: 3,73MB/s
General operations/sec: 28,85
Performance index: 339,78
1) As you can see, unbuffered writes are very very slow on SD card ! SDHC rocks !
2) even the ordinary SD performances are slighty better with the SDHC driver !
Conclusion: fantastic job from GreateVK & FreePK !

I have tried it with WM5 and then WM6.1 without any result. It has nothing to do with the GPS, iGO cannot start. The load screen appears, but after a few seconds it just stops. This problem is the same when I use standard SD card with this SDHC driver in the system. So this is independent from the system and the card I use. Other things like WiFi, Bluetooth etc. seem to be working well.
I tried this with iGO 2006 Plus and iGO8 as well. iGO 2006 quits with Hardware ID error message, iGO doesn't show anything just stops. Is there anyone out there who use this driver with iGO?
Thanks.

Apparently the copy protection built in to iGo will not recognise files on SDHC when the SDHC driver is installed in user memory. If you use a WM6 ROM with this SDHC driver built in, then it has a chance of working. I picked this up from a rough Google translation on Newplow's Russian site. It seems to affect cracked versions of the iGo software! I am not a user of iGo at all, so you must get others to comment?

If you look at Newplow's site (with Google translation) you will see in the Guestbook that Newplow is running iGo himself on version 036, so it seems that iGo and the SDHC patch work for him! I think that is what spurred him on to solve the iGo problem...

just wondering.... this may sound like an obvious question, but does the SDHC cards being faster help noticably with loading programs from it?

Hi, SKYLINE... we are still both around then? Good to hear from you.
No noticeable improvement in loading, but less dropped frames in difficult videos on TCPMP, copying lots of tiny files is quicker. I have lots of small sound files for bird sounds and any backups or copying used to take ages, it now is quicker. I have to admit being lazy and have not benchmarked the speed increase. I aslo hav lots of large mapping files and being able to have my whole collection instantly available is good and they do load very quickly into Memory Map.

Yep, still checking this site like every 2 hours.... i should make better use of my time :p.
no need to do benchmarking, it's the broader macro experience that matters... :D

I have downloaded this driver and installed it on my N560.
Well, it won't work with my newly purchased Transcend SDHC 16 GB Class 6 card.
What could be the problem?
Older SD cards are recognized, but not this SDHC one.
Is there a new version of this driver to support Transcend SDHC 16 GB Class 6 card?
Thank you.

This has me stumped. I bought an Integral (never heard of them before!) 16Gb Class 4 and it worked. As I have no need to buy another (yet!) I have no idea why yours did not work and I have no other experiences to guide you. I think the Class 6 is faster at reading and writing and it may be faster than the N560 is designed for, but this should make no difference. It's like having a Ferrari car and driving at low speeds.... but there's nothing wrong with that, so it cannot be the Class speed.
Does your N560 even recognise it has been inserted?
Have you tried re-installing the patch? Have you tried a soft reset? Have you tried taking a complete system backup (uninstall the patch first), then a hard reset and just install the patch on the empty device and see if it works with nothing else loaded at all! Then restore from your backup. If it doesn't work then cry!
Have you tried a different reader, a SDHC reader on a PC for example?
I cannot think what else to suggest but this set of tests should eliminate any installation issues.
At the end of the day it may be a faulty SDHC card?

I'm not sure what happened but finally it's working.
But it was not working a week ago - I'm sure of this!
The card itself is OK - I tried connecting it to the computer using the SD reader.
Now all is fine but I don't know what's happened.

Thanks for the suggestion, I am currently downloading that image, but according the description on the site, it has standard SD driver built-in not SDHC, so the question is, if I use it and I install the SDHC driver. will iGO be working on my system? That would be my goal actually.
I've got the same problem with IGO after installing that driver for SDHC, tough the driver works very well on my N520, reads SDHC of 16 G, and any other applications that I use. If there is something that you find as a solution for that problem please post what you did to work. My main application for PDA is also IGO, so I need it badly. Thanks!

The main work carried out by Russian programmer, Newplow, following GreateVK etc has been on the N560 and NC550 not the N520 unfortunately. There seems to have been some problems with iGo and the new WM6.0 ROMS which happen to incorporate the SDHC patch in the ROM. Newplow seems to have solved it for the N560, but I see no evidence of any work or results that might be applied to the N520. Shame for you.
There is some evidence that iGo program expects to use directly the ROM SD card reading programming routine, and not be re-directed to an application i.e. the patch program, to read the SD(HC) card slot. The answer seems to be to have the SDHC patch burnt into the main ROM, which is what Newplow has programmed for the N560 and C550.
But someone else might know differently?

Thks, txvs! I remember now the topic, WM6 for N520, I'll upgrade, and also install the last version of IGO too. What version of WM do you use? (I'm still with the original WM5), if you have a link to download it, I'll appreciate...
The complete description of symptoms is that IGO doesn't work from neither SD card or SDHC card after installing the patch. When I uninstalled the patch I had the same problem with IGO, didn't work at all, regardless what type of card I use. To have IGO working, I had to "hard reset" the PDA. I am ignorant in developping applications for PDA or for PC, I'm not a programmer, but I have installed and uninstalled a lot of programs, so, not a beginner in the matter. My feeling is that the patch is OK, all other applications works fine after installing it, that should be a proof for, and the guys who created it have done a great job! I only tried to find someone who had the same problem and had solve it succesfully. I'll try also others version of IGO... hope to be working.

Hi again!
I'm running N520:
Windows Mobile 6 Classic CE OS 5.2.1620 (Build 18125.0.4.2)
IGO8 8.0.0.35389 (Apr 15 2008)
Windows version is the latest from the thread WM6 for N520.
IGO version is not the last one, but I'm working fine with loquendo voices and any maps, so if it's working, it's better don't touch!
I hope this helps ;o)

I tried this patch with all the available ROMs but to no avail. With the ROM which already included the patch the iGO8 worked, but crashed every now an then being unable to read the stored settings. If I reset iGO to factory settings it worked again for a while. It seemed it cannot write the SDHC card well. Anyway I decided to go back to the standard ROM and I use a 2Gb card instead. Since then I had no problem with iGO. I am sorry about this, because I could make use of a bigger card, but not for the price of instability.
If there would be an improvement to this issue I'll be willing to give it another try.

The SDHC patch seems to work fine on almost every program but iGo. Glad I use alternatives.
You might still be able to find ordinary 4Gb SDs that work. I bought a couple before the SDHC patch and they worked well. Transcend made them but you will have to check that they are still available. And obviously check they are true SD and not SDHC badly labelled (I had some! and took them back to the supplier).

I have downloaded the SDHC driver for my n560 but some apps don't woek with it, like iGO. It seems to be working, WiFi works, but some softwares just don't start up. Any idea, how to overcome this? Thanks

After installing the SDHC-patch on my N560 (original WM5-ROM), which works perfectly with my 16Gb SDHC from Transcend, I was really mad about the trouble to get iGo running again. Finally, I found a new iGO.exe-file in a russian forum, bringing my iGO6 back to life - and this very easily.
Just search in google for "Различные сборки iGO" - go to the page and open the chapter => then look for "карта памяти SDHC " and there is a link which guides you to the file for_sdhc.zip. This is the gold nugget you are looking for. Just replace your iGO.exe with the one contained in for_sdhc.zip and the sun is shining again.
P.S.: Now I know what I had to learn russian language for in school (:D)...

Moreover, would you be so kind to attach the for_sdhc.zip file here for everyone?
I tried to find the "Различные сборки iGO" on Google, but it returned a lot of sites and I really went into the dark and tried one, but I can't seem to find anything!!!

I didn't write anything for some time... I had my looxN520 wandering through Europe, it was at my brother in law. Now I had it back and since few days I have tested a lot of combinations to see what it will work. Here it is what works for me, I cannot say it will work for everybody (though it should). I have the original WM5 with the sdhc driver installed after, I use now a sdhc of 16GB Adata class6 (brand should have no relevance), IGO 8.0.0.44366. This configuration works well om my PDA.
Thanks to all who helped me with hints and tips and links to software.

Just look at my post #80 on this thread. Attached to it is the CAB you need. It has everything you need and installs like any program! Just copy it anywhere in memory and tap on it to run it. It automatically sets up drivers etc. Do a soft reset and then it should work.

It's not a separate program but one included by FSC and maybe MS themselves in the Windows CE ROM. However, I am running Newplow's WM6.0 version 038g on the N560, and he may have included it in his ROM as a "bonus"? I cannot remember, but it looks like it comes from FSC themselves.
I have personalised my device so much that I find it somewhere different to you. But somewhere you should find an icon for "System Info". If you run that you should find the screen shown above appears.

It is worth trying the latest Newplow WM6.1 release 063.07 available here (the first download entry:
http://translate.google.co.uk/translate?hl=en&sl=ru&u=http://fsc.newplowe.com/&sa=X&oi=translate&resnum=1&ct=result&prev=/search%3Fq%3Dnewplow%26hl%3Den
It is for 64 (or 128Mb, modified, extra memory) N560s. It is significantly better than the Pups releases and faster, uses less memory and lower current consumption! And it is built in extra helpful utilities written by Newplow. It even includes the LooxLight utility and the SDHC patch is built in. Maybe you know about it already?

Here are instructions for the Fujisu Seimens Quick GPS fix and followed by the SDHC fix cab instructions.
------------------------------------------------------------
How to install the GPS-Fix:
Make sure, you install GPS-Fix on correct language and device (eg: english fix on a english OS)!!!
ActiveSync 4.2 or higher is required too.
Overview:
- Firmware_Update.cab for N560
- QuickGPS_N560_yy.cab for N560
1. Copy both files to the device (either using Explore in ActiveSync or copy the files to your SD card via a card reader on the PC.
2. At first install "Firmware_Update.cab". (Doubleclick on cab-File)
3. Go to "Start > Programs > File Explorer" proceed to "My Device > Windows" and execute "HtcGPSUpdate.exe".
Do not unplug Power and do not Power-Off at this time.
4. You will get a message after succesfully firmware-fix installation. Press "ok" to confirm. Please remove the battery for minimum 10 seconds.
Then insert the battery and restart the PocketLOOX.
5. Now install the correct file "QuickGPS_N560_yy.cab" (yy = language).
The device will auto-reset after installing the cab File.
6. Establish a connection to the internet via ActiveSync (GPRS, WLAN or datacable) and start "QuickGPS", located under "Start > Programs".
The program downloads new GPS-informations from the internet.
Note:
You have to launch "QuickGPS" every few days to get new GPS-information.
Please have in mind that you need a active connection to the internet!
Under "Menu > Options", you can change the download-behavior, how "QuickGPS" reacts if GPS-informations are getting invalid.
Note that the fix swaps the hardware and software ports, they become COM4 hardware, and COM8 software. The baud rate changes from 9600 to 57600, so your own software will have to be re-configured to take this all into acount.
That was for the GPS fix from Fujitsu Seimens.
The SDHC cab is installed by copying the cab file to N560 main memory or the SD card. You simply click on the cab file (using File Explorer on the N560) and it should install as any other program. It should be installed in main memory when asked. It is a tiny program and takes up very little space in memory. I use a 16Gb SDHC card all the time.
With these two fixes you should get the best experience from your N560 on any GPS program and will be able to use greater capacity SDHC cards for maps etc.
Hope this helps?

This might be unusual. I asked on the Newplow Russian site and had a reply from someone, who like me has a Loox N560 with this patch built in to the ROM and 32Gb SDHCs work for him.
It may be that your freind found a limitation of hardware, not the software patch. For example, if one of the address line connections on the SD socket is not connected inside the device, or the operating system ignores anything from that contact, then the full 32Gb will not be addressed properly.
Clearly that is not the case with the Looxes and they can read the full 32Gb.

Hi Fingerstoo,
It was me on the Newplow site with the 32 gb..... :D
It works perfect like any other card. No problems at all. I know there are many fake memory cards and usb sticks on the market (through ebay). I have a genuine Transcend card.

Nice to meet you in another place that we obviously have in common!
I put my question on Newplow's site as it is the most clearly focussed on the N560. And thank you for answering. It shows that this patch is well written, especially as it seems to work on so many other Windows CE devices, but also works to the maximum SDHC capacity!

I have installed the driver on my LOOX 550 with orignial WM5.
Now I have a problem:
I think that when I turn on the ppc the driver is first turned off.
This entails, that when I have a file on the sd card open, it is closed when I turn the pda off and on.
This is nerved because I hear podcasts and music from the sd card.
So when I want to interrupt, and then want to continue, the file is closed.
So I have to load the file again, and have to jump to the location I was before.
HOW CAN I UNISTALL THE DRIVER ?

I think you can simply uninstall it as any other program. Even though it was a cab file install, it should appear in the installed programs utility, and hence you can simply uninstall it. Do a soft reset after uninstalling.
The reason why you lose the continue ability is that the PDA has to start up and load the replaced SD driver with the SDHC one when you power up. I think this is a small price to pay for such vastly increased storage capacity. Can you really not live with this one disadvantage?

The freeze occurs with a few programs (not just navigation programs), but not all. Most of the programs I use, TomTom etc prevent turn off and therefore avoid the problem. If I am running on battery alone then I simply use a utility that turns off the screen and backlight completely to save battery power. This has the advantage of the navigation program still running and not freezing, or more importantly, not losing its place! If you want to power down and then recommence navigation later, surely it is simple to exit the program first, then power off. And later, just power on and reload Navigon.
As the SDHC patch came with the ROM,you cannot uninstall it. The only way would be to revert to an earlier unpatched ROM.
This is all part of the problem (some would say "feature"?) with the Windows CE operating system whereby (to mimic the old Palms) the apps remain loaded on a power off and recommence when you power back on. I have for years used the freeware utility tMan that makes sure the programs are properly closed when you exit them. This also helps to ensure that nothing freezes over a power off. Newplow is aware of the freezing issue. The latest ROMs from him may have solved it?

Thanks for reply.
I have newest 6.1 rom. Can You tell me name of utility with switch off screen? Windows "buttons" in settings allow only to turn off backlight...
thanks

The freeware file is called ScreenToggle.PPC2003.CAB and it's written by Wei someone. Sorry I cannot be more specific. You still have to set up one of the Windows buttons to make it run. It is best to make it a long press, so that you do not accidentally press it. Even though it was written as you see for the older WM2003 devices, I and others can confirm that it works on WM5 and WM6.1. I have used it for some years now on different devices.

Thanks fingerstoo for the answer.
I really can not life with the loosing continue ability.
With the old driver i can normal continue working (hearing podcasts/mp3, reading documents) when I continue after a break.
With the new driver I have to load the files/documents new and move/scroll to the old position to continuing my work.
This is not acceptable !
With the normal uninstall this driver is still active.
I am very unhappy.
Is there a possibility to copy the old driver files to the device ? What files I need, and where can I get them ?

One thing to check - after you uninstalled the patch, you should have soft reset the device. Otherwise the drivers are still in main memory and will remain so even if you turn the device on and off. If you have not tried that, please do so.
Finally, if that does not work (and it should) no new drivers will stick if you perform a hard reset. If you back up your personal data with something like SpbBackup (can recommend it, if you don't have it), then perform the hard reset and re-install your programs and restore your data. A full backup would be no good as it would restore the new SDHC driver if it was in memory at the backup time. A hard reset (back to factory delivered state, or empty new device) will return you to the original SD driver. I do not know of any driver installation that can be installed like the SDHC one and take you back to SD.
I notice that Newplow has yesterday posted a new WM6.1 ROM for N560s (not sure about your model) that allows you to swap between SDHC and SD drivers without hard or soft resets. And he seems to imply that he has also solved your original problem of freezing apps running from SD after a power off/on. But again this seems to be for N560 owners only.
