SMS defaults to showing on screen

This is my first WM phone so it might not be a Polaris issue. I really don't want that by default incoming SMS is shown on the screen for anyone to read.
Can it be somehow switched off?

Settings -> Sounds & Notfications -> Notifications tab -> Event: Messaging: New text message -> untick "Display message on screen"

Thank you. I must have missed it.

I have another one.
Anyone maybe knows how to shorten the time between ending a call and showing the today screen? I really don't want to block my phone for several seconds.
