Hi all.
Ia have a trinity and i am very happy with it. Currently Running FiNix WM6.1 Cooked rom... It has GPS Chip enabled.
A friend of mine bought a Vogue and at the store was told it had no GPS Receiver.
Is this true, or is it just sleeping till you upgrade radio like on the trinity???

I got a Sprint Touch (Vogue) flashed with the Alltel rom (just for the radio) and JD's 6.1 Sprint rom. GPS works great, no wifi though, but who needs wifi with an unlimited RevA plan?

+1... I've been happily using GPS on my Vogue since Friday...
As long as you are in fact talking about the HTC Touch (CDMA Version) a.k.a. Vogue then yes it most certainly does have a GPS chipset. Although I wouldn't necessarily expect all store sales staff to know that... There are many that most definitely would but you know...

The question in the OP was not answered. Is the gps functionality in the HTC Vogue based on the quallcomm e911 aGPS, or is it a *REAL GPS CHIP*. Does it work when you are out of range of cell phone service, or does it work well indoors? Does the phone use both aGPS and real GPS?

It was answered. It is a real GPS receiver, it works otu of the range of cell phone service. It doesn't work too well in doors, but not many real GPS receivers do. It doesn't appear to be using aGPS at the moment and my TTF is can be up to several minutes depending on location and aerial visiblity. It works right away with Google Maps (which is free) and once the fix is obtained with GPS Viewer it also works with TomTom 6.
