The general idea of the skin is that a small section of the top is always visible (type=5) with no scrollbars - showing the clock/date, message counters and BT / WiFi toggle - it's impractical to have a whole horizontal block devoted to a clock, you may as well have something else there.
Previously, I made an rlToday skin to handle the top part, but I am now in the process of coding an rlToday-like app to replace that and support different images for different button states, for example.

The rest of the screen is a cube. Gesture left/right to switch faces, and where applicable gesture up down to scroll lists. I want to have a contacts list like this, and a music browser too - like the browser in Pocket Player, but in a UL cube face (Been speaking to conduits and they say its gonna happen or it can be done existingly with the SDK)

Images wise, all of the PNGs are just placeholders for now, I want to use glass icons with an interesting background and prefract (Pre-refract: see here (http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=388946)) the area behind the buttons so it looks like they are made of glass and are bending the light passing through them. If I can get my app (or the new XIAMultitheme which I may switch to helping develop) working to allow different PNGs for different states then I want to acheive a nice glass interface look with icons lighting up in a believable manner etc.

Anyway, for now, attached are some layout type mockups:

I actually did that one by spamming screen grab repeatedly and self assembling in a GIF editor. not meaning to derail the thread, but if anyone knows of a decent screen capture util that renders out a nice movie and shows clicks/drags too, lemme know.

Wasn't my post, it was by spencepu3. I really like your purple skin though - nice lines but still pretty efficient use of space.

What I would also like to do with mine is make the clock area a ul cube that had a different timezone in each face, but that would require being able to run two UL cubes at once.

Add a new item like you would an shorcut, but instead of choosing XP-Icon or Program Icon choose Text, then Choose an alignment for it on the first tab and what you want it to say on the second tab.

To get it to look the same I installed the battery status with the clock, and HTC plugin with one tab for the weather through ultimate launch. Reduce the fixed height to 115, tab height to 0, and start the plugin on startup, LOOks awsome. Ive been looking for a simple today plugin scince WM came out, and this is it. You can replace weather with whatever, but the clock is perfect.

Here's mine with UL (rlToday, Resco Today Plugin for battery & memory status) on top. I use the DCInoRow to get rid off the soft keys, which are replaced by the Battery Status for the stationary bottom row (WM5NewMenu, Phone, Calendar, Contacts). Can someone help me put the battery and memory status into rlToday so it integrates with my rlToday skin?

I like that clock area transparency , kind of similar to the look I want.
What I would really like for the clock area is to acheive the look of a lump of glass with the LCD font 88:88 etched into it (and sunken down a bit) then the characters overlaid onto that. With a matching prefracted wallpaper I reckon it would look amazing.

Anyone know how to show notifications on the SMS, Mail, Calender(+Date) and Phone shortcuts?

I'm not good at photoshop or XML coding and stuff like that, but I know Copy-Paste :-)

Here's mine with UL (rlToday, Resco Today Plugin for battery & memory status) on top. I use the DCInoRow to get rid off the soft keys, which are replaced by the Battery Status for the stationary bottom row (WM5NewMenu, Phone, Calendar, Contacts). Can someone help me put the battery and memory status into rlToday so it integrates with my rlToday skin?

Well not sure if mine can stand the "freaky" skins out here because I just did it with simple methods using the given stuff from UL...
I inserted the HTC home as active plugin and then used the Iphone icons to set it up. It perfectly fits my needs and has everything I need. I switch it like cube and I get very fast from one prog to the next...Don't really need all the fancy stuff here ^^

well the icons are ultimate launch and the bottom dock part is rltoday. i have to thank ogabriel from the rltoday forums for helping me.

I made many of the icons, but the original idea came from some icon pack I found a while back, when I was collecting some icons, and I wasn't even thinking about making this setup, so I can't remember who I got them from.
So, I want to thank the person who made the original icons I'm using in my theme (if someone knows the person who made them, please let me know so I can give the right credits).

My UltimateLaunch today plugin has disappeared from the today plugins list. I don't know when it happened. Other programs that can "host" plugins, detect it. But not windows today settings...
In the register it is there inside (software/microsoft/today/Items/)

Any ideas what is happening??

I've been looking for an alternative to Spb MS. I loved the layout and concept but I disagreed with the fact that it takes you out of the WM environment. I tried all kinds of apps and then I found UL. It is truly the Ultimate Launch plugin.

Probably one of the plugins dont work with UL.


Didnt notice any memory leak with UL.I have 6 plugins and tons of icons so it does use some memory but its not leaking. I have official sprint 3.35 clean rom and latest ver of UL 1.2

The grey bar and naked icons are actually part of the wallpaper. The Home tab for example is an actual UL tab with the others hidden. The height is fixed as far as it will go without a scroll bar and I tried different icon sizes as well. Just trying to get rid of the that last bit of space at the bottom.

You are probably using vjtoggletodayiialpha.exe to hide the bottom bar. If so, you have to go to:

[HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\Software\Vijay555\VJTodayToggle]
"SoftKeySize"=dword:00000001

after changing this value, run vjtoggletodayiialpha.exe again to apply changes.

You can achieve the 2 remaining pixels by making the topbar 2 pixels shorter.

Add a new item like you would an shorcut, but instead of choosing XP-Icon or Program Icon choose Text, then Choose an alignment for it on the first tab and what you want it to say on the second tab.

Still .... I can't get a straight line like yours. I only can show a dotted line like "-------"

To add the text with lines in both sides (a separator) you have to do:


Open UltimateLaunch settings
Chose the tab you want to change and press change.
Now press new.
Chose Seperator.

Text alignment - the center dot.



Margin - whatever you like



Draw border - select this if you want a border around the line
Text - write your text here.

I would like to ask if anyone is using Ultimate Launch (UL) in Touch Diamond?

Can he/she try activating Touch3D as one of the Plugin in UL?? I can do so for the TouchFlo Home plugin.

If this is workable, then I believe we can have Touch3D as only ONE of the many plugin while UL can also have plugin for PocketBreeze and PhoneAlarm..

the clock is made by asefsef for batterystatus but I modified it to fit my theme. The botttom is an rltoday skin that I made.

There have been MANY requests for this theme. Check post #640. It is a combination of Battery status and rlToday and the files are in the post.

Clocks are just today items. Get a new clock today item and change the one you currently use either in UL (if you want the clock to spin with the cube) or in the normal windows menu: Start->Settings->Today, select Items tab (If you do not want the clock to spin with the cube).

What clock are you using? HTC home?

A simple clock to install is Pocket Digital Clock (http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=374751) - just install and then go to the Today Items menu as detailed above, untick the clock you are using and tick Pocket Digital Clock.

Yes, that I am familiar with, but have it incorporated with the cube itself, so when you slide your finger across the screen it goes through your fav contacts, music photos video screen, etc and then the Ultimate Launch screen. I'm not sure if you will understand this, but if not let me know.

OK, here it is!!
I mocked up the "Half Cube" interface I am trying to acheive in adobe premiere.

THIS IS MOCKED UP IN A VIDEO EDITING PROG USING PHOTOSHOPPED IMAGES. DO NOT ASK ME WHAT APPS I USED OR HOW TO GET THIS UI - IT CAN'T BE DONE - YET.

The Calendar tab may happen as the developer of thumbcal is looking to write a today screen version. This is what prompted the mockup ;)
I want tabs for all kinds of stuff though, all using the same vertical scroll dynamic. Weather, tasks, lots of things would work like this I think.

Only got the top clock bit done so far, but it does work in portrait and landscape... see "SaFF" link in my sig.

I've managed it to download the files from the french site, but could you translate the installation instructions please.
My french is quite bad:rolleyes:

1/First you need to install battery status, rlToday and Ultimate Launch
2/ for the program page, you have to install

-weather panel
for the theme:
"Dash Icon" in "Program Files\MarsWare\WeatherPanel\Icons"
and "Shine WP" dans "Program Files\MarsWare\WeatherPanel\Themes",

- Today agenda
- SetVolume
- Pocket WakeUp

4/Then you have to disable all today programs(start / settings / today / Elements tab and uncheck)

5/you install the Skin_Xscott.CAB( in the pocket memory )

6/finally, you have to restart your PPC

I made many of the icons, but the original idea came from some icon pack I found a while back, when I was collecting some icons, and I wasn't even thinking about making this setup, so I can't remember who I got them from.
So, I want to thank the person who made the original icons I'm using in my theme (if someone knows the person who made them, please let me know so I can give the right credits).

ok for those that don't know its the buuf icons and all i did was convert the icons one by one from png to ico using the website http://converticon.com/.

then i just added the icons in ultimate launcher, there is some playing around that you would have to do to get it just right tho. Also the bottom part is rltoday. i have attached the theme i use.

The main screen (home) has rlcalendar for the date and the icons I am attaching a ZIP file which has the ico for UL and the PA skin. RL calendar can be downloaded.

weather was the weatherpanel with phatfingers skin

photo contacts were done right in UL but I had to use Axialis icon maker to make the icons. I know there are some programs that can do it easier. I just use iContact now.
