Flashing just the OS on a Hermes

Following on from my previous thread, is it possible to just flash the OS part of the ROM from the bootloader, without erasing user data?

If yes, how, and where would I find a ROM file?

There was really no reason to start a new thread for this. You were already getting whatever help is available on the first one you started. It DOES sound like you're in a bind. As far as I know, there is NO way to flash an OS without blowing away the data currently on the device. I think you might have better luck trying stuff with MTTY ... although I am not the person who can help with this, and I do NOT know for sure if it's possible.
