is activesync4.1 the only version that works with the wizard? can i get a link please?

If you are running WinXP,than ActiveSync will work,but if you are on WinVista,then Windows Mobile Device Centre (WMDC) will work and not the ActiveSync.
Get the latest version of ActiveSync 4.5 and not 4.1 either from the Xda-Wiki or direct from the 'Microsoft' website,if you are on winXP,otherwise download the WMDC from the Microsoft website for winVista.
