At first glance it looks amazing!!! I might get flamed for that but it is my opinion.
Currently,
-Sliding is smooth.
-It has a contacts application! Would like to see an option for Favorite Contacts.
-Calendar rework on the ribbon is great. Shows numerous days appointments.
-Dpad controls are present.
-Really intuative.
-Customization of animation is available under Customize Home. It can flip like the cube but in all directions.
-Battery drain is better but still a little more than my liking. This is probably device specific.
-Resource usage is down on my Wizard from before but still higher than most small programs
This is probably because things that PointUI controls in their interface like Weather, Contacts, CommManager
etc are always available immediately, no delay. It takes resources to do that. But I have to say overall 2 of
2 of the most recent cubes I have tried and 1 of the iphone knock offs I have tried have both been Ram hogs
with half the immediate access or smoothness this program gives.
-Messaging and calendar seem to be customizable to a degree still using a reg editor. See http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=355961
-They have their own keyboard going on. Try to edit a contact and see what I mean. It would be nice to see it
skinnable because the color of it is so dark.
-Scrolling is still opposite. Both on press and direct, and flick to scroll but I like it.
------
Things I'd Like to see--These may actually come, see my notes below
-More options on weather. I like HTC Weather plugin much better. It would be nice to see more forcasts then
today and tomorrow. I really think a Hybrid of HTC Today Weather and Weather Watcher would be the best
but they may have an issue covering all of the countries.
-PointUI Calendar-Bet its coming
-PointUI SMS-Bet its coming
-PointUI VOIP
-PointUI Dialpad
-PointUI Media Hub & Player. Bet something like it is coming but man wouldn't it be great if they would team up with
A_C to make a killer integrated app!!!!!
-Rework the lock screen. Again they should talk to A_C here.
-Would like to see a Charging indicator on the home page battery icon. It does show however when pressed.
-Would like to see a Sync icon appear when connected to the PC
I haven't spent much more than 10 minutes with it. I don't know how customizable it is as of yet. It looks like on their site they are developing more programs and customizations to go with it. I also notice that at the top of the download section there was an emphasis on this Home being "Free". That along with the green check marks for some things and red x's for others makes me think that adds or improvements may cost money going forward.
Thats ok. Good programs do cost money and should be paid for.
I will add more as I test further.

Completely approve with you
I know it's a little early but to make this program "perfect" :
- an integrated SMS manager, like they did for Contacts
- surely theme customisation
- a shortcut manager for programs on the HOME screen (eg change the outlook calendar to ThumbCal or the Messaging to a program other than Outlook messaging)
Though, this program is still GREAT, and this update brings decents modifications and fixes

I believe the integrated SMS is coming. Just from looking at their website it will be there but they will probably charge for it and good for them.
Theme customization same thing
The shortcut manager is there in a way. Just press the "Star" Icon. I actually think it helps keep the screen clean of clutter. For you other 2 requests, ThumbCal and Messaging. You can change these using a reg editor. Not as simple as a ui but it can be done. Let me know if you need help with it.

:(I really liked PointUI when it first came out, but realized pretty soon that I couldn't use it because of the way it lists the tasks. I was really hoping they had fixed that in this version, but see that it still lists tasks alpabetically instead of by due date.

I would recommend you completely unintall the previous version. By that I mean go through their unistall method and soft reset. Then file explore and delete all info out of \Program Files. Then reg edit and delete all info in \HKCU and \HKLM. Soft reset and then use this one.

Just installed PointIU, and I have used S2U2 for a long time, but S2U2 1.00 has some trouble coexisting with PointUI.
When pressing power button to activate S2U2, it won't activate properly. Pointui overrides S2U2... Also when the phone times-out, and S2U2 activates, I can press power twice to unlock the phone...
Anyone knows how to fix this?

I personally haven't had any problem with the 2 working together. I do know I saw a reg fix on this site about S2U2 but i thought it had to do with an older version of both. You may want to try the search function on this site to see if you can find it. Post back it you do. If you haven't already since your install, soft reset. That may clear it up.

Worked like a charm:
Customisation: Email account
- You can specify a store name in a String value called App.Email.StoreName
- This will then launch to the specified inbox instead of Outlook mail
- The store name is CASE SENSITIVE
- It doesn't appear to break if you enter a dodgy store name - just doesn't do anything Smile
- Unread message count indicator will be count of TOTAL emails across all accounts
- You NEED TO RESTART Home for this one to kick in

It still has the awful bug where scrolling with your finger works completely the opposite of every other app. It's the only thing I really hate about an otherwise great app. But I just can't get used to navigation one way and then the other. Surely they could make it an option (no there isn't one, unless its in the registry) to make it work like every other application out there?

LMAO!!!! You are correct. With this being a new version alot of the settings or availability may have changed. This is not the PointUI forum. Although we may use that to draw information from doesn't mean we are as familiar with their setup. And if it is our desire to post it on this forum it isn't double posting it is sharing.
I am working on your dialpad issue. Seems I had that issue at one time before. Is it possible you had the call/send key mapped to the wrong process, cprog.exe. if it was mapped incorrectly before it may have worked for you but may not be as complient with PointUI. Also, try 2 other things while i work at it. If you haven't soft reset since the install do that. And Go to the settings Cog\Customize Home\#3 and change it to do nothing, see if that clears it up. It shouldn't matter but I think the program may be trying to reinitalize itself somehow.

Its not a bug its just the way it is. I bet they will give the option to change it eventually. I will tell you though I hated it at first too. But after spending a little time getting use to it I actually like it better. You may already know but you can press and direct to scroll but you can also flick to scroll.

I bet it is a reg edit. Probably like the AppStore edit for mail, tasks, calendar etc. We probably need to forum up at PointUI to find out. It is just so new being released today that I doublt its been posted on yet.

Yep, reckon you are right on both counts. I have to confess to not having registered at PointUI as one tends to get much more focused information here. The PointUI boards seem to me to be a bit harder to work with.

Risky; different version of the app, plus Contacts customisation isn't discussed in that thread - tasks, calendar, email, yes, but not Contacts.

You can change the registry option to run S2U2 instead, it's along the lines of:
HKLM\Software\PointUI.....
Add key App.Path.Lockscreen
Params to S2U2.exe.
Don't quote me on it completely, someone posted a thread with different reg edits for it.
Then make sure (haven't used new version, so not 100% sure) in the PointUI options, that once powered on, do nothing.
So then you will have S2U2 run on power up and when you tap the lock icon S2U2 runs.

It's good that this app is growing... still... the missing user customizations and most important THE STABILITY issues make it little more than a tech demo IMHO...
When it crashes (and it will, most of the times) almost nothing will save you from a soft reset... -_-
So I hope they will focus on fixing these issues before thinking about new plug-ins api or stuff like that...

Here is what you need to do.
Open your reg editor.
Go to HKLM (Home Key Local Machine)
- In the key: HKLM\SOFTWARE\Pointui\Home\{your version} (i.e. version = 1.5) create a new String value called App.Email.StoreName
- You NEED TO RESTART Home for this one to kick in
Hope that helps. Thanks to Mushipkw

I lost that same amount initially but I noticed last night that it had dropped double that after letting it run all day. I am starting to wonder if it has a memory drain bug!!!! I don't know if it is device specific so lets find out.
For those of you who can; start with a soft reset and give us your memory before you start PointUI. Then give us a memory count after you have it up and going. Finally, give us a memory count after a long stint of it running like 6-8 hours. Don't forget to include your device, OS and ROM.
I am trying to figure out what devies besides my wizard that it is having a memory drain.

Ok my first impression of this nice app (few hours playing only though)!
Nice application that runs very smooth on my HTC Touch Cruise. And it looks very nice!!
Top Section of the screen:
The lock works great, I just need to touch it and it locks the screen + hard buttons. When you lock it, there is a nice way to unlock it. You need to slide your finger over the screen and it will unlock it ;D. The operator status icon, is also nice. When you touch it, it will go to the comm manager (you can change the default comm manager into the pointui comm manager :D). There are also more status icons, like the Bluetooth/wifi/data/clock. They are all grey-out (except the clock) when they are off and when they are on you can see them of course ;).
When i press on the volume icon, I will go to the volume settings. And in there you can change the volume or put it on silent/vibrate. If i press on the battery status icon it will goes to the battery settings. Where you can choose 2 options: Power Settings and Backlight settings. But when I choose one of those, nothing happens.....So this should be fixed! :P. When I press on the system icon, nothing happens. Only when i use my hard buttons of the HTC cruise. I don’t know if this should be happening, but I don’t like it like this. once you used the hard buttons you are able to change some things to Pointui and some system things.
Mid Section of the screen:
The first thing that I see is the time, when I press on it nothing happened. It would be nice to see my alarm(s) or that I could set them when I press on the (digital) clock.
When I slide to the weather screen it goes smoothly. But I can only see what is the weather for 2day and tomorrow, would be nice if I see the next 4/5 days when I press on the weather system!
When I slide to the appointments, I see me next appointments. But it launch the build in wm agenda not the one that I have installed pocket informant (pi). It would be nice if could replace that without going to in the registry. Or I didn’t saw that yet ;). For the tasks, it's the same as for my appointments. Would be nice if I could just put my own task application PI.
When I slide a little bit further, I see the entire month. Nice but...when I have an appointment it would be nice to see those dates bold!
Bottom Section of the screen:
First you will see a phone icon. If you press on this you will see the last person that you have called/received calls. And how long ago you made/received the call. When you go to the next screen, you have the ability to call the person or send him/her a text message. It would be nice to send an email to the persons that are in your contacts with an email address.
The next icon, is an envelope. That’s the email application, for some reason it won’t notice the new email messages I got on my account that I have created. It looks only in the outlook account for some odd reason. Didn’t saw how I could change that yet.
The next icon, is a kind of message bubble. And this works great compared to the email applications. It notify me when I have a new message. And how much messages I have received that I didn’t read yet! Too bad PointUi don’t have there own application like contacts.
Next is an star…yeah Patrick the starfish :P (watched 2much spongebob omg >_<). Here you will see in short the start menu. This doesn’t work that great IMO, because sometimes I can use my touch screen and sometimes I can only use my hard buttons(this applies to almost all menu’s). WTF!!!
Next you will see contacts (no icon). This is PointUI own app, not the one from wm/htc/pi. I really liked this one, really finger friendly! Better then the PI one, imo. When you touch an contact you will see his information and you can touch the desired phone number to make an call
The last one, will be the application button(no icon). When I click on this, I will get three options: New, Applications and Currently Running. If I choose new, I can make a new sms/email/appointment/document etc. Nice, but it would be better if I could customize this so that I can use PI to make new appointments instead of the build in. Applications is like Start->program and you can choose the application that you have installed. Currently running is like the task manager. Here you can see what programs you are running. But when I click on it, it starts the program. It needs to be like SPB Mobile shell, that I have the options to close that program, activate it(opens the program), close all programs or something like that. Not directly to the program!
This was tested with WM6 on a HTC Touch Cruise. Sorry for my bad English ;). Overall I’m very pleased with this program, but there are a few things that bothers me. That I can’t customize like in SPB Mobile shell. Well not that you customize a lot in SPB mobile shell but a lot more then in here. And sometimes it won’t let me use the touch screen, so I need to use my hard buttons. Small things but those things can be annoying. But the best of it, it’s free (for now). If they fix those things and keep it free, it can compete with SPB mobile.

This does happen from time to time. Here is what I would recommend you do to remmedy it. Under Settings Cog\Customize Home\Task Bar Options (#7) select the setting "Use Home's Task Bar". Now when you "end key" a program or call if you see your original home screen you will have a much thicker status bar at the top produced by PointUI that you can press and immediately be taken to PointUI Home.
Its the only fix I can think of right now that is as simple as it is.

I'm using the CDMA HTC Touch (XV6900) and this thing drains my battery like no tomorrow just like Spb Mobile Shell. Has anyone found a solution for this? I barely used my phone and kept it in sleep mode most of the day and I'm down to 30% after only having it off the charger maybe ten hours! With Spb Mobile Shell it dropped at similar speeds. With neither program installed it was at about 70% after ten hours. Compare 30% to 70%, huge difference!
I absolutely love PointUI most and can't imagine going back to the default interface...does anyone have any ideas?!

For all wondering if this is correct, look here:

Please be aware that Pointui is new concept to manage your ppc, with is own way to manage the diferents tasks, so, try to consolidate everything as S2U2, Ifonz, Cube, Spb, weatherpanel etc, with one only screen looks impossible

FOR THE BATTERY TRY CHANGING THE RADIO ROM ( WORKED FOR ME, BATTERY WOULD BE DOWN TO ABOUT 50 PERCENT BEFORE I GOT OFF WORK - FLASHED THE RADIO ROM AND NOW IM @ ABOUT 75-80 PERCENT BEFORE I GET OFF WORK 8AM-3PM... AND THATS WITH SPB SHELL RUNNING.. ALSO TRY CHANGING THE TIMES THAT YOUR PHONE POLLS FOR EMAIL )
I was thinkin about switching from spb mobile shell to this pointui... not sure if its worth it... just installed it on to my other phone ( tmo mda ) and it works okay but im leaning more towards spb shell. The part that i do like about the pointui is that you can lock the screen using it, other than that its lacking some of the stuff that spb shell has ( like the weather report for the next 5 days instead of just 2 ) .... I am noticing a few gliches using it like the time at the top sometimes waves a little bit.

Absolutely!! Just go to the PointUI contact interface, select a contact you would like to edit or test, then in the upper right corner there will be a "pencil" and "Check mark" icon, select the pencil, finally select what you want to edit like a phone number. Voila!

Thanks for posting it here. What you need to do is simply locate the saved data from the PointUI - Yahoo weather feed. Then a mortscript can be used to save that updated data to the reg location S2U2 uses for it "User Weather" update. In fact you could probably modify code from http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=358952 to pull the info on your device from the PoinUI location instead of the internet and you will have what you want.

absolutly Not ! pencil brings me also to wm standard contacts edit. (vers.1.51a, touchcruise, wm6.0 original rom)
But anyway GREAT software, but some things i miss and cant understand why they are not working.
1. autolock after a defined time or when backlight turns off (like s2u2)
2. go back to clock after a defined time (like Ul.launch)
3. real favorits/easy program starting
4. Bug: sometimes touching on icons is not working and i have to use hardwarekeys.
5. scrolling goes in a feeled wrong direction
6. locked icon should be colored, because on the first view you cant see a difference if its locked or not.
7. screen calibration on hardwarekeys is not locked, same problem like s2u2

I am running 1.5 and it works great on mine for editing contacts. The autolock will occur but you have to go to settings cog\customize home\3rd option of "Do Nothing when device switched on". This will allow your S2U2 to start automatically according to your defined parameters. If you are wanting PointUI's lock to start automatically I will do some more research.
Can't help on the clock
My favorites programs works fine. I defined them in the windows start bar since that is where the programs pulls the data and all of them work great.
I have the same issue on the screen button presses. I think it is just a bug. When I get myself all the way back out to the primary page the screen taps seem to start working again. It only happens occasionally.
Scrolling is backward from what you are use too but it is so smooth. Don't forget you still have flick to scroll, press and hold, and search by letter.
I agree with the locked icon color. In fact I wish there was more color on the icons as in the original version.
Screen calibration on lock. Well I don't know much about PointUI's lock because I don't use it. I reg mapped the lock icon to S2U2 and it works great. But I have my settings on S2U2 to completely lock down the device when active. It locks up buttons, screen everything.

The main difference between 1.5a and 1.51a is the contact page. 1.5a you get the pointui half-baked keyboard to edit the contacts, and 1.51a you go directly to the wm contact if you want to edit. Besides, 1.51a gives you the option to add a new contact which was missing from 1.5a. The difference is subtle but noticeable if you used both.

- i wrote "like s2u2" this means what i say: autolock of pointui ? Dont want do have run another fat background application. So this must be done
- go back to clock after 10 seconds should be done
- favorits allow just 7 Progs, and they must be set with links of the windows startmenu, thats not enough and not comfortable enough for such a proffessional software
- scolling is super smooth, yes, but wrong direction for me
- there is a button combination when you press this, windows goes to screen calibration, that is not locked with pointUI and s2u2
BIG PROBLEM: BATTERY GOES COMPLETLY DOWN after 10 Hours ! (or less ?)Thats what i have tested: completly hardreseted TouchCruise, no other Software. Backlight off, touchcruise not. After 10 hours over night, not doing anything with the phone, no other software is running the Battery ist emty !!
THIS IS ABSOLUTLY BAD !!!!
Im sitting here und writing this lines and can see how the battery goes down !!! Cant belive this !!!!! im loosing 6 or 10 Percent every hour, without doing anything !!!!!!
With Ultimatelaunch and many other software runinng, overnight my battery was just loosing 20 or 30 percent !!!
so this is comletly unusable for any user, there must be a BUG  i really like this software but i cant use it anymore.

I have been using a samsung i780 for a while with PointUI, but after a hard reset a day or 2 ago, the directional pad functions in a weird way.
I use the touchpad as 4-way d-pad and it works ok in other apps, but when I start PointUI, left is down, right is up, and down is left and up is right?
Tried a reinstall and even another hard reset but it didn't do any good.
Does anybody know how this could have happened?
I'm trying with pointui 1.51a. Thanks!

I am experiencing the same thing. I have come to the realization that I will have to close PointUI when I am not using it and open it as I need to. It sucks that it has to be that way but until they figure it out its my only option. It looks like the developers are discussing the problem on their site. Appears according to his remarks he doesn't believe the program causes much of these issues but a lot of people have responded noting it does.
I agree with him that you will always have to exchange some RAM and Battery for a UI that renders information as quickly and as beautifully as this one does. For me though, to loose all my battery with in 12 hours, no additional programs running and have a memory leak that starts off at only a few meg maybe 4-6mb but end us up double that, I have had to go to the above solutions. My friends with iphones are jelious though. So I save it for eye candy and times that I will have a lot of use that requires quick access...

Don't understand why so many people are having battery drain issue. On my tmobile wing (OT 4.0 blk lite rom) the power consumption is not significantly higher (may be 1 or 2%) compared to when I used UL.
I think this may be due to the PointUI lock program. If selected lock device when switched on, Home is actively waiting for the resume event then lock the device and this may contribute to the power drain. I use S2U2 (mainly for the full screen caller ID) so I don't use the PointUI lock. Can someone report the battery consumption after disable the PointUI lock (by choose do nothing when switched on)?

Okay maybe the reason you people seem to be having issues with the battery because this is an APPLICATION not a PLUGIN. Applications take battery! Just like SPB. If it was a plugin, it would use less battery, but it would also be less customizable.

Yeah but pointui did not drain like the new version. I can't use a standard battery a whole day without charging.

I was running point ui by itself. No SPB or other shells. Not even pocketcm
To resolve the issue i uninstalled point ui, then installed rltoday, and pocketcm
I also had an issue with the weather on pointui. It wouldn't update on schedule. It would open the connection to the internet then close it immediately, unless i opened it with internet explorer or a seperate app.
This is the only version of point ui i have had the weather and the massive battery drain issue.

Sorry this is months later, But is there a fix for the dialpad issue?

did you make a donation to their efforts? pointui is a excellent program, sure there is spb mobile shell, ifonz, but hands down so far pointui is the fastest!
I am also using akadonny's rom, bare bones basic's, installed my own apps and everything flies.. no problems with battery life..

can anyone confirm this is the correct reg setting? i want to try this. setting pointui to do nothing did the trick...but the problem now is after a few minutes point ui doesnt stay active when i s2u. instead it goes straight to the today screen. so i think i'll have to use that reg edit. just want to make sure its correct.
Take a look at running mortscript and a script called notoday.mscr Found easily even on google.
place the notoday.mscr file in your windows/startup folder
Now when today comes up it kicks it right back to PUI
