Hey guys, I got a Orange SPV C600 / HTC Tornado the other day off ebay which i promptly upgraded to WM6.1 and have to say im _very_ impressed by it. It came out two years before the TyTN, has a slower CPU, much less memory and doesnt support 3G, yet it easily kicks my TyTN's ass:

* reading and writing texts is pretty much instantaneous even though I have over 2500 texts on my phone. Loading a message thread takes a second or two, on my TyTN it can take up to 30 seconds! When I want to compose a text it takes 3 seconds to show the window on the smartphone while it takes up to 15 seconds on the hermes.
* browsing the internet is actually better on the smartphone!? Smartphone IE renders websites way better than the hermes (and it seems to load websites over GPRS much faster than pocket IE over a 3G connection)
* Start menu and programs list scrolling is faster and smoother
* It plays videos better than the TyTN - I downloaded the latest family guy and put on both my phones, the TyTN could play it but was stuttering occasionally while the C600 played it smoothly after buffering for a few seconds.
* The C600's battery life is awesome, with a constant GPRS connection and streaming musing for about 2 hrs a day and some web browsing it lasts a good 2-3 days. My TyTN dies within hours if I try to do the same thing.
* The whole GUI is much more responsive, apps open faster, settings are applied quicker, animations are smoother, even Adobe Reader LE renders pdf's faster!

I mean... The TyTN is a device that today costs £130, it was considered to be a beast when it came out, but even so a 2 years older smartphone which you can get for ~£30 outperforms it? Have I missed something? It took me about 2 hours to give up on the TyTN after seeing the Tornado, the latter is definitely my main phone from now on.

Oh, and Im running WM 6.1 Shadow on the TyTN and a WM6.1 Vanilla rom on the C600 if that matters. I know the TyTN probably would win in a benchmarking competition, but when it comes to day to day tasks it's miles behind :(
