HTC Diamond. Audio out. Why not regular jack?

I really hoped that HTC will release new phones with normal 3.5mm audio out connector. Sony Xperia X1 will have it. But it looks like new HTC Diamond will have "stereo headset connector: proprietary combined with miniUSB" link (http://msmobiles.com/news.php/7326.html)
Why, oh why?

because HTC, like many big companies, has a huge fetish for proprietarization sales and a huge fear of licensure payments.
