Hello, I've searched through the forum but I wasn't able to find a similar problem.
When my Polaris is connected to 3G it's impossible to:
_make/receive phone calls
_send/receive SMS
I've tried with several SIM cards, even with one that I use on 3G every day on another phone. No way to make my Polaris work.
The only way to phone is to force it to connect to GSM (G icon), doing this I can phone and send sms normally. It also works when connected to Edge (E icon).

I have an original italian ROM:
R 1.58.21.23
G 25.65.30.04H
D 1.25.00.00
Same problem is being reported by other 3 italian users, we all have the same R 1.58.21.23.

Any of you have any idea on how to fix the problem?
Do you think that flashing Murata radio rom could help?
Many thanks in advance. I don't know what to do.

I have the same problem in South of Spain. In 2G (GSM) yes, but in 3G is impossible today. Anybody else?

I have the same Radio, Protocol version... And works fine. 2 out, 1 to go, I'd say there's a problem whith the original ITA ROM...
Did you try a Hard Reset to fix it? If you did was the fix only temporary? If so, there are two options...

warranty
Cooked ROM

Thanks for the answers!
Yes unfortunately even after hard-reset it doesn't work.
Apparently there are different 1.58.21.23 Radios according to this thread http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?p=2171454#post2171454
I was wondering if it's worth to try the "Murata 1.58.21.23 Radio" which seems to be an official HTC Radio issued for russian customers and which seems to solve reception problems.
I could try it and if it doesn't work I could go back to the original 1.58 and original SPL.
I'm a little scared to install a cooked ROM instead, I bought the device 1 month ago, I'm still in warranty.
Thanks

I had the same problem and found only one solution: warranty replacement :(
HTC replaced my Cruise's motherboard and now it is working like a charme.
I'm living in Rome, Italy and they took 2 weeks for replacement.

Good luck!

At this point I'll send the device back to HTC for warranty replacement, I'll call them tomorrow. Thanks Cloudlord!

Search the other forums (e.g. Kaiser/TyTN II) for the 3G problem. I had it with a Kaiser and they also told me that a motherboard replacement was needed. I changed the unit to a TC which did not have the problem.

The problem seems more than common...
