Installation instructions and download links

Instructions for those running an official T-Mobile Shadow ROM that is CID-unlocked (http://www.elims.org/downloads/HTC-Tmobile/SDA_ApplicationUnlock/SDA_ApplicationUnlock.exe) and connected to ActiveSync or WMDC with MicroSD slot empty...

1. Download http://rapidshare.com/files/105981665/Shadow_SSPL-JumpSPL.zip.html, unzip, follow readme.txt
2. Download http://rapidshare.com/files/105981821/RUU.zip.html, unzip, run ROMupdateUtility.exe

(those steps were just to protect the SPL (ie. BIOS) of your phone. the next step flashes the new ROM)

3. Download http://rapidshare.de/files/39323901/PHOEIMG.rar.html, UnRar, and move NBH file into RUU folder extracted in step #2. Remove "Shadow-USPL.nbh" file from that folder. Run ROMupdateUtility.exe

im looking in the reg on v3 and am only finding that value data in connmanager(ithink it was i know it was conn....) nowere in my5 is networkgui mentioned.

im going to install t-mobile rom so i can check out the reg. and get a complete reg dump for future reference instead of guessing and wondering old values :)


since v3 is working without problems for me. the only thing stopping me from updating atm is this BUG: incoming and outgoing call screens are blank... does this mean white screen... or just black screen light last release ?


edit. im surprised on how fast 60 mbs will download OTA :) 45 minutes. not bad t-mobile edge. hope 3g will download this file in 10 minutes considering they will be the only carriar using 1700 for 3g... ok back ontopic....

Yeah, I'm going to make a little beta 4.1 if someone can upload the backgroundimage_port.bmp. I guess this is what happens when you clean out all the SYS files.

I'll also look through all the PROVXML files to find the myfaves problems. Those provxml files are really annoying...

Attached is winwap.exe and T-Zones.lnk if you want to have access to the wap browser (e.g. check your t-mobile bill, etc).

Copy winwap.exe to \windows and T-Zones.lnk to \windows\Start Menu

Also, I tried the OZ IM from this link: http://www.wireless.att.com/blackjackIM and even copied the files from the WM6.0 rom but I got a communication error.

I use fring for IM but if someone care to try you can download it from the above link.

When I get to the final part it says "synchronization failed"
and goes right back to the home screen. I can use my internet explorer, opera mini and vtap so my internet is working but the email....hmmm I dont know.

OK, I picked up the 4.1 beta from RapidShare and flashed it.

Things I noticed:

(1) No Voice Command installed
(2) The dial screen has a real dark background and real dark text.
(3) The autosetup email for sbcglobal.net is almost 100% perfect (SSL needs to be turned on for POP and SMTP)
(4) The autosetup for Yahoo is broke-tries to set up for IMAP vs. POP.

Everything else seems OK.

voice command is currently installed but it doesnt run, i get an error saying:
error opening the shortcutor locating the target filename.
this is though the shortcut key, i cannot find the exe itself....

also, the tmobile address book opens up, but syncing doesnt work,
the oz im client posted above gave me a comm error...even tho i have all settings properly configured...
thanks freddy, the wap browser works like a charm, totally forgot about it :)

oh and one more thing before i forget, i remember back in the original rom, i was able to edit the reg so that the photo panel would open in the mem card when "all photos" in the right soft key was pressed, but when i did it in this rom, it "works", but when u click on the image with the center button it just takes you to the folder specified as well instead of opening the actual image,

it was in HKLM\Software\Microsoft\Shell\Rai\:MSPIMG
and adding this: \Windows\pimg.exe -directory: "\Storage Card\DCIM\100MEDIA\", makes both the center and left keys go to that folder....any ideas?

Windows live is whats giving me the problem

Sorry about the voice command. I had cleaned out all of the files when I made 4.1 and forgot to add Voice Command back in. I had assumed that it would work just like in the v3 rom. I think I put in the wrong value for the text color. I think the background is okay when there is white text in the foreground. However, if anyone wants to make a better background, please do and send it to me. For address book, I forgot to add in the sync.dll to make this work.

@bipinsen: thanks for the cab file. I didn't realize that it didn't work properly. I'll need to find all dlls needed for this in the extended rom.

@suasp0nte: are you talking about windows live mail? I've had that sync properly with my phone and even set up IM. The one thing I can't remember is how to make it stop syncing automatically. (I don't have the data plan)

dont sweat it, im just mentioning whatever bugs i find, but this rom is incredible regardless :)
for the call background, i just changed the incoming and progress text color to white and i replaced the incoming background with a copy of the the progress background, it looks ok in my opinion, dont know if u wanna check out how it looks.
also, the comm error i got with IM went away, it went through like the 4th time i tried logging in.

and someone correct me if im wrong...but when a bluetooth headset is used, is voicecommand.exe what allows voice dialing? because right now, if i press the button on my headset, it just dials the last called number...but regardless thats how i noticed the missing voicecommand.exe.

I still running V3 and that is how I fixed the dialing/incall text (it didn't have those registry entries). Not sure how those values were wrong in V4.1

v3 works great for me with all the fixes...however I need to upgrade to V4.1 so I can do more troubleshooting....

im sure nd4spd added them .... but when he added them they were in hex not decimal and multistrings instead of regular strings.

When you look at the startup processes, there are three entries. The first two have been discussed many, many times elsewhere.

- Basically, if you're not using MyFaves, then replace My5MsgCenter.exe and MyFavesService.exe with 0 byte files. Look around to see how this is done (if you don't know already)

- There is a new startup in 6.1 called NetworkWizardAutoStart.exe. This basically detects the network you're on, and autosets the network settings (like GPRS settings). If you have set these up, and want to save some startup time (the application runs, detects network and sets settings), then you can disable the application from running on startup.

HKCU\Software\HTC\NetworkWizard Change EnableAUTODetect from 1 to 0

Try setting up your proxy settings. I had the problem and I added in the proxy.

im so fucking pissed off right now. my fucking phone froze to i took out the battery to turn it off. the reboot took along time. then out of no were cold boot config ..... WHAT ??????



MY PHONE CLEAR STORAGED IT SELF..... !!!!! without me saying yes and without me going into a bootloader. i do not have the rom image on my memory card so i know i didnt accidentally load the bootloader and reinstalled.....

connects from the wap network
connects to the internet

proxy port:

That's it. Then just run through the Windows Live program. If that doesn't work, try reflashing the rom.

Besides the battery icon you need to change the following registry entries:

Has anyone tried to disable and enable the radio using the comm manager? I did a little while ago and the phone radio completely freaked out. I could not make calls, the phone would lock up with invalid sim errors, the phone status display would stick with a "G" with no bars and the phone app would lock up when you would try to make calls. Even after powering off the phone for a few minutes the phone would not recover.

Maybe it was a fluke. I flashed back to the tmo rom and all is well again.

but here is a shorkit key rebuild. that could be added to the rom. I found it at allshadow long ago and dont know who the maker is. sorry. but great none the less. its just an exe that you run on your phone and it will update the list for the shortkut key to almost everything on your phone. s2u2 wont show for somereason though.


well i found out that the shotcut menu can only hold atound 59 entrys after that it wont display the rest. s2u2 was number 63 in my reg.

in a sense yes.. if the screen was touch screen wmstandard will respond to screen touches.

go find my mobiler for the computer. it will display your phones screen on your pc. enables you to make the shadow landscape or portrait ON THE PHONE. allows you to take screen shots and save them directly to the pc. also allows you to use your keyboard to type on the phone and use your mouse to click the phones screen.

so when texting. sometimes i open my mobiler and send 5 page txts in 40 seconds.


on anouther note. im looking for htc weather but i find this.
its a weather slide that updates in the slide and looks real good. and guess what free.

The quickest way to make it look nice is to have the incoming text black (on that white background) and the call-in-progress text white (on that grey bitmap background).

For my gmail account set up on my phone, I can send emails, but no matter what i've done, I cannot get it to recieve my messages, so basically, the inbox is empty. I checked all the settings too, and I'm currently using POP3 for it, can anyone enlighten me about this?

I take it you didnt install the free trial of office and sync with your computer ?

I know we were having problems with it in the last rom. i personally dont use it. for somereason t-mobile decided to make 4 duplicates of each contact on their server. so when i sync i get over 100 contacts and it just gets rediculous.

for myfaves the flashlite.dll file is missing i put it in the windows folder but still don't work i am at work now it may have to be cooked in to the rom or there is still more files missing i will flash v3 to see if it is in the windows folder :confused:

Additionally, how do i remove one of my email accounts, because after a quick search, I'm still unable to find out how
edit- err, the delete button was greyed out earlier, but now suddenly i can delete accounts, so that problem is solved, although I'm still unsure why I wasn't able to delete from the Messaging menu earlier.

funny you bring that up. i tried once. and spent 4 hours making the cab. i was about to save it and my computer froze.

so since i have a 4gig and a 2 gig mem card. i simply put my music on the 2 gig and cabs and videos on the 4 so ican easly install all apps after upgrades or clear storage

What you're describing is IMAP, with "delete messages from server when I delete them locally" set.

does IMAP with gmail work on this release? I couldn't get IMAP or POP to work at all. Like you I can send, but that's it.

What you're describing is IMAP, with "delete messages from server when I delete them locally" set.

Sorry if my message was confusing... but IMAP only has the two options to delete them off the server or move the message to the server's trash when i delete an email...
I would like it to act like the POP3 or whatever I had in the original t-mobile rom, where it would not affect my server inbox and trash in anyway

a user had this problem over at all shadow.

have your friends check their phones settings to make sure they are sending original size images.

heres how you test your phone. Start a MMS msg take a pic for the picture to make sure its going to be fullscreen and instert it into the mms. Send it to your cell number and wait 40 seconds for you to get the text. you will notice the image is fullsize.

MMS pictures are now normal size for me (see, I'm not retarded... :P). There may be some sort of better way to fix this, but hey, it worked.

take the 4.1 beta. apply fixes. atm no. Theres a final dev rom. but no final 6.1 juno rom.

E-natives Smart Toolkit should defenitely absolutely be put into the next rom. I could not get wap to work and spent like 5 hours reinstalling the official rom like 3 times.
I will wait for an update too as I am very tired of messing with this shit. Can't wait for a real phone with an Open Source OS and at least 3 times the speed of this phone.

smart toolkit should never be in the rom. because it pisses alot of ppl off. and freezes phones in its current beta. when its final yes. but you dont put beta software in a rom. at least i would be pissed to have a final rom with a beta app that akes the rom unbusable/.

shadowmike thanks for the reply. okay i used to have 6.o and the video i could record fullscreen. now i use 6.1 v4.1 and the video screen in video recorder is only a small square instead of full screen. in 6.0 i had portrait and now its landscape.

i just tried freddys landscape camera fix (didnt work) then i tried portrait fix and restarted and tried camera and it wouldnt work at all.

My video records in m size and theres no other options. hope theres a fix. thanks if you can help:confused:

unfortunatly... there is no fix as of yet.

as i believe that was a feature in the portrait camera.

this has been a bug for awhile that it doesnt work and we are still looking into it.

i am actually trying to find camera software from a different phone thats newer to port but not having any luck :(

Smarttoolkit should be in every rom PERIOD. Adobe reader pisses me off, so does My5/myfaves BS (glad that's gone). If you removed word, adobe, onenote, excel t-zones as well as those horrid neo screens & put smarttoolkit on plus a few well-established others I would be impressed. Smarttoolkit is just like any other ap (or is it). You can run it, or not as well as remove it.
Besides all these "beta" roms are no better or worse than the software/applications that come with the devices' original roms. mho
It'll be nice if a rom cooker can edit an nbh beforehand. There never will be a perfect rom for anyone as the devices are so personal as yet.

ND4SPD. Thanks for removing the my5/myfavorites startup garbage and default neo screens. I would hope that networkwizard cab would be in the next release. Removing office would be good too for most (sans outlook for syncing of course). Thanks for the awesome nbh files.
I never did get nlite or vlite for that matter under my belt. But your efforts will surely benefit everyone regardless.
