I think this FM Radio is improved as far as reception concerned. Less interference noticed overall. Back up the current library (just in case you don't like this one) from the Windows directory and replace it with the files in the zip.

use total commander or resco explorer. Either will over-write the libraries.

It would be great to make a cab file out of it. Could anybody help with it?

That depends - what are all the needed Registry entries ? It's simple enough to have all the files in the zip CAB'd to install in \Windows, but are there Registry entries needed beyond these ?

i tried it yesterday.Copy all files in Windows folder with resco,check version and see version number is ok.I listened to radio all night and havent a problem

This library is complete. You can unzip it to the storage card, tap on the FM Radio.exe and it will work. I believe we need a cab maker. That type of program writes everything into the registry during the installation.

The PDAViet rom also has version 1211.721 which also has better reception than the one on the stock rom. Now I can use my favourite headset which had poor reception, maybe due to shorter length than some crappy one I had:)

Neither the cab not the zip works. I thought that my sprite backup would have the original Files from the rom,it does not. Does anyone have the stock radio files to get my radio working again?

EDIT: It looks like I have lost the ability to launch the radio app. At this point, I really don't want to do a hard reset. Don't apply this update unless you are willing to lose this function.

What application doesn't start?
The CAB can only be installed if you turn certification off.
I don't know if this is possible with all stock ROMs.

Yes, I know that - it was the point of my post.

But what I asked is: "Are there any other Registry entries that need updating ?"

The answer seems to be - apparently not, since another post reported it as working by just copying the unzipped files into \Windows ... but other posts reported this as not working.

Generating a CAB is easy of course, making sure it actually works may be harder.

The FM Radio I posted is better than the PDAViet's one. I have less interference or static after I upgraded to it. I am on PDAViets's 06 build and I get a clear and crisp signal off the stations I had the crappy static with the original build.

And YES, you got to have the security policies changed in order to overwrite some files in the Windows directory. Search for the SDA Application unlocker. That should fix the problem with upgrading.

In my first post I mentioned about backing up the original files. If you happened to fail doing so, try to find Dutty's FM Radio cab.

How about replacing the files from the zip, instead of running the cab. I used the Total Commander to replace the original library.

The FMRadio.exe does not start. The cab was installed properly without issue.

Perhaps you have to rename "FMRadio.exe.0409.mui" to your corresponding country setting - i.e. for german ROMs you need to rename it to "FMRadio.exe.0407.mui" (use Total Commander).

Have not tested it - but will do this tonight.

I did a hard reset to regain FM radio. I have a stock Dutch rom, no SDA Application unlocker installed or what so ever.

This is what I did:
* Made backup of original files, "fms_api.dll" did not exists in original /Windows folder
* Installed .cab (without any warning) + soft reset > FM Radio won't start
* Renamed "FMRadio.exe.0409.mui" to "FMRadio.exe.0413.mui" + soft reset > FM radio won't start
* Put back original files with TotalCommander, deleted "fms_api.dll" + soft reset > FM Radio still won't start:mad:
* Hard reset > FM Radio works fine again.

I would be very curious to know what these people who claim this update "works" have done to their devices prior to attempting this. It doesn't seem like this is not too successful for that many people.

I use PDAViet rom 19900 without any tweak from me. So whatever they did is what I am using. I just unzipped into a folder on my TC and then used Total Commander to copy to the windows directory. I did not even need a reset to make it start working. Simple as that :cool:

Here is what I think about this upgrade. My polaris is flashed with PDViet's 06 build. The rom has all security policies disabled. The original FM was 1.5.1211.721 and was not as good as the 1.5.1811.1326 that I later tried with the ASerge's latest WWE Rom. However the PDViet's Rom turned out to be a whole lot faster and more stable. I liked the performance of the PDA, but was unhappy with the FM static and poor signal. I split the udk's 19839 build and extracted the FM files from it. I made sure I received the complete library. Finally I replaced the original FM files in the windows directory. I did nothing eleborate to make it all work.
I did not use the cab, but files only. Never tested the cab myselt either.

Got it to work on my Orbit 2. You really have to rename that language file as stated above, or the Error message, saying that the Headset has to be plugged in will be an empty window.

And yes, it works in any folder. Tried it from my SD card

But after some testing, I can say, that I really can't realize any difference in sound Quality...

Didn't work because you deleted fms_api.dll. The original file IS in the Windows folder, but on the Rom and somehow copy protected. While trying to backup my files with Resco Explorer, it failed to copy this File.
