What is the best Home Screen & Colour for bright sunlight

I have been using Rick's V21 ROM with the RED Sliding Panels home screen layout for a few weeks now.

I love the functionality, and the look of it. However, as the days have gotten sunnier here (Ireland doesn't get that much sun ;) ) I have found it increasingly more difficult to read the screen when out and about.

What home screen/colour combinations have people found to be the most outdoor friendly ?

Im not saying this is the gospel, but i think it would be very dark backgrounds with light colored fonts. It should make it the text stand out more and not get washed out with the sunlight, since you are using dark backgrounds/ and dark menu bars
