I had a universal with a very badly broken mini-usb. This one was a G3 device and after it was sitting on the shelf for a while I decided to see if I could make it work with two batteries and a battery charger. The problem now is that the rom that I had last installed on the device was always having Radio Rom errors and was reseting. I would like to update the rom and backed up the rom on my G4 device onto and SD and, when entering bootloader on my G4 device, it tells me to press the power button to begin update. However, when I enter bootloader on the G3 device it reads the SD card and then says something on the sorts that it can't be done and "Update!". Could this be because the bootloader is different from my G3 device? Does anyone have any ideas on how to resolve my problem of installing this rom or any other on this device without using the usb port? Thanks! And thanks Buzz and others for all your great work!

yes, this is because of the different bootloader version

Does anyone have a G3 rom dump that I can throw onto an sd card and install? I would hate to have to consider the phone a total loss! Thanks! And if I could get really picky about which rom, I have been using Ranju's v7.6 and love it on my G4 device.
