Are the i601 and the i607 Blackjacks the same?

Hey All, I'm looking into putting WM6 or WM6.1 on my blackjack. I currently have the i601 Telstra Version of the Blackjack. How would I go about putting a newer OS on it and if I screw it up, is there a bootloader mode to recover?
