If you guys find more and have comments on the above links' reputations, please do let me know how safe they are.
Hopefully, the prices would still drop when they fully release the X7510.
For some reason the Dopod U1000 which is the same as the X7500 is a 100 dollars more expensive.
I did see a few UK site with the price ranging from 600 to 660 UK, that's including VAT.

I just got a U1000 from Hong Kong "3 Shop" for HK$3880 = USD 497. Brand new, no phone plan. They also gave me a HK$100 prepaid SIM card also. Very good deal to me.:)

Of course not. The "3 Shop" is only in HK (or maybe UK also). They probably trying to get rid of their old stocks so that is why selling for such good deal.

I wish I was in Hong Kong right now. Are you based in Hong Kong?
Anyone here good and kind enough to buy me one and send it to the US? Of course, I'll pay.
I would have bought 3 of those units then re-sell them for $800 bucks a piece. That was a good deal...

The moment I saw this deal, I jumped at it without second thought. But they only have silver model. I am not in HK now. You should ask a friend who lives or pass-by HK and ask him to get one for you. At this price it is hard to tell if there are any more stocks left in a few days.

Actually, Dopod U1000 (white) can be upgraded officially to WM6 as opposed to HTC Advantage X7500 (black), from what I read somewhere. Please correct me if I am wrong. So, I guess that explains why a brand new Dopod is higher by $100 dollars in price from a brand new HTC Advantage X7500.
Unfortunately, I don't have a friend in Hong Kong.

Well, I just upgraded mine to WM6. It works wonderfully well in WM6 without any lagging.

how easy was upgrading? any special precautions?
did you use the official release or the cook ROMs here?
do you have a link of the download site? Found it: http://www.asia.htc.com/asia/event/WM6/index.html

Why on earth would anyone use an 'official' ROM?

In my case, if I decide to buy a Dopod U1000, I want to see 1st how the official ROM performs, if I'm not satisfied, then I'll move up to the cooked ROMs.

Can't believe we don't have someone online here from Hong Kong who can buy us some and send them. Easy way to make $50 per unit, I'd pay that :)

Hopefully when the new version X7510 is fully released, the prices should go down on these babies. Right now, most sites are offering $1100 to $1200, the expected price of the new version is $1300, so it's pointless to really purchase the old version at such a price.
Wouldn't it be wonderful if HTC announced the price of the new version to be $800? That would really make things interesting.

ImobilePlaza looks like a scam. No credit cards, only wire transfers. Try to Google Imobile Scam (http://www.google.co.jp/search?sourceid=navclient&ie=UTF-8&rls=GGIC,GGIC:2006-49,GGIC:en&q=imobileplaza+scam)
