After spending a few hours flashing both roms, I came to the conclusion that I will personally stick with v5.3 biggy.

v5.3 Biggy Pros:
-I really enjoy the iContacts feature first and foremost.
-This rom is fast as it is without the use of overclocking (but overclocking
doesn't hurt)
-I like the feature of being able to use the HTC Home still because I need to put my own icons up that i frequently use.
v5.3 Biggy Cons:
-The icons made for sms/email/phone are way too small. I have a hard time trying to get into their paths without bringing up the rltoday options/reload skin dynamic
-the scrollbar won't go away unless you do what has been stated. but it kinda irks when you have to do it so many times

v5.0 UL Pros:
-love the cube feature where you can just flip through your options
-very organized and eye pleasing.
-icons are a nice size where i don't have to struggle to click on it

v5.0 UL Cons:
-can't seem to find a way to change the icons that were preset to what i need them to be.
-kinda wished the iContact feature was kept
-a slow rom without overclocking it

all in all .. i kinda wished that the cube feature and icons were put into the biggy version or vice versa (icontacts and ability to change icons). Both roms are great roms and everything worked fine for me. Just based on frame of reference i choose the v5.3 biggy. Good work ttran will be making another donation in a week

you can add icontact, and then use schaps tool to make it a soft key, thats how i got pocketcm to work, and also edited the link on Ultimate launch

Guys I was doing everything write but my files were not directly in the windows folder

They were in the "Pureskillzzz thread file" folder

Instead of the copying the 2 files, I copied the entire folder to Windows/

I like that you put the date by one of the rom's :) it's very helpful to know what's been updated when by you! You are always doing so much work on these things it's hard to keep track. Keep up the good work.

The livesearch icon doesn't work. I have search and I even drop the icon in the windows folder and it still doesn't work. The error message say the livesearch can't be opened. either it is not signed with a trusted certificate or one of its components cannot be found. Any suggestions....google map did the same thing at first but I dropped the google icon in the windows folder and it worked, however, livesearch didn't

i successfully downloaded this rom straight from my phone onto my storage card renamed it and flashed my phone. No PC was used at all. Oh and ttran i like the Open Touch 5.0 UL its perfect.

OT 5.3 Biggy is working fine for me, just a coulpa minor issues (scroll bar, wifi status not physically changing to off (turning from green to gray) but it does turn the wifi radio off). MMS/SMS worked fine right outta the gate. I would like to know why iContacts went away however....thanks to whomever linked me to the thread for it!

On a side note, does anyone know if the dialer skins from say OT 3.0 will work on these dialpads? Just curious is all. I REALLY LIKED the dialer from OT 4.0 Biggy.

org 5.2 was much faster then 4.0 biggy vista for me. without overclocking it was performing almost on par with my 4.0 oc to 286. i guess the 5.3 org didn't come out in the expected time frame?

close your text messages first
open the thread.htm file
click now first ( check mark goes in next to change )
then click a check by the three files that pureskillzzz posted ( make sure the check marks are black not gray )
then click now again ( or change )
then click okay.
go back into the thread file using total commander again and make sure that the changes took....
then click okay again...
then soft reset..

you can also change the speed of the revolution of the mini cube to a faster speed so it rotates smoother... just did it on mine and its looks good

Tran, I recommend selecting a few people to beta test your releases from now on, before making them public. To many repeated questions/bugs are being posted causing this thread to explode.

This way, you can have controlled testing and the results you're looking for, fast. Once all the kinks have been worked out, then you can release the ROMs.

I believe this will reduce stress on yourself as well as everyone else, such as myself, having to read stupid posts every night. I would love to be part of the beta team once again.

UNCHECK THE BOX !!! THATS ALL YOU HAVE TO DO, and then press okay...

I change mine to...it looks great...what speed did you set yours on?

I cut it down to 300msec... now it looks good, and increased the acceleration ( to speed up )... THIS ROM ROCKS...

Now i just gotta figure out whats eating my storage space on the device!!!!

Using the 5.0UL and loving this ROM..

1. how can i add Comm Manager to the list of Button options (hard buttons on side of phone...i.e. Button 5 has always launched my comm manager)

2. I would like to have seen more free storage memory available and find it redundant to have both ultimate launcher and the Cube.

3.Trying to retrieve mail or sms from today screen is a little hard. if the word "Email" along with the number would launch email it would help my fat fingers.

4. Wifi is flawless.. thank you. makes using PIE much less painful.

5. Thank you for NOT including Goggle Maps and live search. when they have been cooked before into ROMS there are issues when an upgrade comes along.

6. The Today Screen.... Love it. I love having my time, message status and the weather all at a glance. Perfect.

ttran, thank you very much for the efforts you put into these ROMS. Thank you for putting up with us and our noob questions. Thank your family for sharing you.

I like to wait until people who know what they are doing work out the kinks before I update my rom and I have to read 50 different posts from people asking the same questions just to find out if the rom is stable enough for me to flash yet. I am the same as I use both to give two different effect . But UL is easier and uses less ram ... Hmmm Now to find the touch screens and be able to put them on UL and ill be very happy ...

Haven't seen this problem yet in the thread .. After I set my icons to what I needed, did my settings, installed my apps, I did a soft-reset: even did a Full Screen. When my screen booted up again my home screen is gone. I've soft-reseted about 10 times and It's all black, any idea what's going on? Do I need to reflash?

Theres a glitch with s2u2 I think. Was having a similar issue with rebooting and the screen being black for a few seconds longer than normal... Turn slide to unlock off ( for run at start up ), gave me the same problem with opentouch 4.0 before... I just like the caller id part of s2u2... you can still run s2u2 after boot up.. just not on start up.. the caller id part is cool.

put the power off time or whatever its called from 17s to 60s seconds, and turn safe mode on... and on battery power ( change turn off 2 off ).. the bootcycle is more than 30 sec that's what makes it stay black...

Installed V5.0 UL first, the start button keep vanishing and the scroll bar was stuck on the today screen if you remove the clock the scroll bar goes away and all seamed fine then I tested the V5.3 Biggy from what I could tell all was fine but I didn't have it on it long until I flashed the V5.2 Org all seams fast and smooth the only thing I have noticed Odd is sms messaging I have to del the message to be able to read and reply to it .... Great work and thanks for the cooking.... I will be sending a donation on payday

Its solved.... Press fullscreen ... then its back to normal.

Here's a harder question for you. I read the whole thread and can't find an answer. Is it possible to KEEP the start bar (battery/signal strength, notifications, etc), AND get rid of the scroll bar? Can I edit the theme file, make it smaller? I'd even be happy to get signal/battery icons on the theme itself, but keeping the start bar and just getting rid of the scrollbar would be best.

i took a gander at the links you provided (thanks for those!), but i was just interested if everyone was also seeing the text at the bottom like i was. i wonder if the icon has the text on it or if the text is placed under the icon separately. if the text is separate, maybe we can just edit it and make it a smaller font or leave it blank. one more thing, is there a way to to edit the text for on the today screen for the phone "voicexxx"? is that really supposed to bring up the phone? if it is, why? there is already a large button on the 4 at the bottom to call with. :cool:

Theres a glitch with s2u2 I think. Was having a similar issue with rebooting and the screen being black for a few seconds longer than normal... Turn slide to unlock off ( for run at start up ), gave me the same problem with opentouch 4.0 before... I just like the caller id part of s2u2... you can still run s2u2 after boot up.. just not on start up.. the caller id part is cool.

put the power off time or whatever its called from 17s to 60s seconds, and turn safe mode on... and on battery power ( change turn off 2 off ).. the bootcycle is more than 30 sec that's what makes it stay black...

i love the rom. i fixed the sms thanks. i dont know if this has been discussed or not. if so sorry and point me in the right direction. when i first turn on my phone the bar at the top isnt there(w/signal,start ect). once i slide it open it comes up the srceens adjust and then my weather like the end part of the 2 arrows doesnt show up. if i click on full screen the top bar goes away. is this suppose to happen? but doesnt make the both arrows show up on the weather screen. also i get the url screen messed up in the ul sometimes. again thanks for the awesome room. hope i can get these problems fixed. i reload skin and the url screen is still in my ul but not messed up no more. i notice that pressing the screen button on and off helped fixed the batterystatus problem.

I was a little bummed with the text under all the stylish buttons in UL so i did a little trial & error and i figured out an easy fix. in the ULconfig select the menu you want (e.g. applications) select change. pick an icon and again hit change. click the text tab and erase the text and insert a - (dash). save and exit. do this for any of them. if you get an error just go back in and type something for the menu text. you can play around with the symbols to make it look nicer too. anyway, just a little contribution.

First, I began tinkering with the Today screen. There were several problems also, where if I rebooted my phone the Today screen would just be blank. Another few reboots and it would appear.

Another problem is that when you slide out the Herald keyboard and then slide it back in, and go back to the Today screen, you would not only see the menu bar on top, but an annoying scroll bar would appear on the right.

Finally, where'd BatteryStatus go? I like to see what signal strength my phone has and if its connected to EDGE or not, as well as how much battery I have left.

It always one of thoses things... As soon as I remove the cube from any rom.. I will receive a bunch of PM asking why it's not there. That the main reason I added it.

I really dont even use it any more and it does not run on my personal roms.

Hey ttran001, leave the cube and UL in the rom because its great. I love this rom. If people aren't happy with the memory it takes up, all they have to do is reflash the rom and don't open up the cube. The rom will have the same memory if they didn't go into touch flo settings to activate the cube.

Hey, I just loaded 5.0 Biggy and it seems that everything is working sweet except:

a. When selecting my city in the weather section, names of cities never show up. The windows ball just keeps spinning without showing a result. Anyone else have this problem?

b. My iContact hangs from time to time. I have 500+ contacts. Is that a problem??

TTran keep the cube and UL.. I just turned the cube off on mine, cause I don't use it right now, but will again in the future ( makes the wing run faster without it but I have used it before )...
Is there a way to change the background in the clock??
and as far as the battery guage goes you can add the vista hide battery gauge, or on UL click the backlight icon and then go to power to see how much battery is remaining.. also with batterystatus you can also enable the battery icon(dont know how it will look though).

turn the cube off to get rid of the scroll bar... I just turned mine off and the scroll bar only shows when you slide the keyboard out. also turn off the spacer2 on the today screen.

its in the 60's pages. i personally got it to work but for some reason the changes won't stick in my 5.2 org that i did. everytime i softreset it decides to default back with both the original and the thread_sms posted by pureskillz.

it seems to be working ok so far. after two hard resets though, for some reason the stylus screen kept freezing on me.

Here's a harder question for you. I read the whole thread and can't find an answer. Is it possible to KEEP the start bar (battery/signal strength, notifications, etc), AND get rid of the scroll bar? Can I edit the theme file, make it smaller? I'd even be happy to get signal/battery icons on the theme itself, but keeping the start bar and just getting rid of the scrollbar would be best.

yes, it will. You will not be able to edit your myfaves from your phone though. You will have to log into t-mobile's website to do that. Trust me, if you have a stock rom, you will be amazed at how much faster and nicer these roms are.

TTRAN, thanks again for your time here. I flashed lite diamond. I like the theme, very "crisp and clean." The SMS/MMS issue does exist, so you'll need to follow the fix explained in this thread. I also noticed that when I tried to overclock, BS would not let me. I think someone mentioned that in one of the other versions. After playing around with the today screen, and then installing the largest of my programs (Good Mobile Messaging for corp. e-mail) I started to have the start menu not expanding at all. The screen would act like it was going to open, but then did not. I soft reset and it worked again. This happen a few times when I changed today screen items. Then when I was able to open the start menu, some of the programs would not launch. I like not having the bottom bar. What program are you using to remove that and replacing with the 4 icons? Is it configurable so I can point to other programs?

Overall, the behavior of the ROM snaps fast like a typical TTRAN ROM, though it seems like there are some kinks to work out.

I know the info is somewhere but, I'm tired of looking. How do you remove "Delete All" from the messages menu? I've been on this rom for 2 days and deleted everything twice. Awsome rom though. Using the 5.0UL and loving this ROM..

1. how can i add Comm Manager to the list of Button options (hard buttons on side of phone...i.e. Button 5 has always launched my comm manager)

2. I would like to have seen more free storage memory available and find it redundant to have both ultimate launcher and the Cube.

3.Trying to retrieve mail or sms from today screen is a little hard. if the word "Email" along with the number would launch email it would help my fat fingers.

4. Wifi is flawless.. thank you. makes using PIE much less painful.

5. Thank you for NOT including Goggle Maps and live search. when they have been cooked before into ROMS there are issues when an upgrade comes along.

6. The Today Screen.... Love it. I love having my time, message status and the weather all at a glance. Perfect.

OK tried to install AdvanceConfig an no dice on both version. Had to do about 5 soft-resets thus far. Let me try and install NETCFv2. Maybe thats needed.softreset again. And still not working ...

Been banging on the buttons to see what the phone will do ..... . My OZ wont open whats with this rom ... I am a little sad. had to softreset after trying to use it ....

GREAT !!!!! Activesync is working correctly now ..... I choosed to change the splash screen and it worked flawlessly.

Ok the wifi is working correctly now. Able to use both browsers at once and update weather ... Just PERFECT ttran001 !

OK the MMS/SMS is not 100% but its working. You can't get the options menu to choose MMS settings, You also can't choose servers. There are registry values missing ... Well it basically only affects what I want to do which is send larger files. ....

Now for you folks who ask the same question 100 times. NO !!!!!! The MMS/SMS 1.2M hack doesn not work. YES !!!!! You have to apply the thread_sms hack inorder for threaded MMS/SMS to work.

So if you want to complain about a rom remember if you don't speak up and tell the cook what you do and don't like then don't say anything at all. The cooks here are doing this out of appreciation , admiration and love of the art of cooking. If you think it is so easy then put out your own rom.

Now remember I tested this on a t-mobile wing . A lot of these problems may not occur on all phones. So if you have a different phone please post your findings.

I seen people complain about the screen . Have a little patience. When the rom is installing and setting up the screen does not fit . Once all is complete it fits perfectly.

I installed oxismemory even with it already being installed as I feel that the pre-installed versions dont work well and I love this application.

Rom is looking very sweet now ... I just love the diamond display .....

All the buttons work from the comm manager screen with the sexy new look . . The rom has power and is a good addition to ttran001 collection. Enjoy folks. Now iContacts is a beautiful phonebook / contact application and fit perfectly in thsi rom.

I, too, run many apps off my sdCard without any performance issues or problems. I have a Wing - and never have to reboot because of my sdCard. You may have some incompatible software?

OMG i went step by step and its not workin...what sms file am I deleting or replacing...

replace the thread html file but do it on your computer not on your phone its easier....once you replace it you should b able to tell its about to work. If you replace it correctly when u go n2 total commander the box archive will b clicked once u c that do the directions that were given

for me the Full Screen app crashe every time I slide my keyboard out. So, I removed it from the start up folder. Now, i have the start bar at the top but the stupid scroll bars show up. I went to the Today setup screen and got rid of the Space2.

I hope this helps anyone that can't get used to the Full Screen mode.

for me the Full Screen app crashe every time I slide my keyboard out. So, I removed it from the start up folder. Now, i have the start bar at the top but the stupid scroll bars show up. I went to the Today setup screen and got rid of the Space2.

I hope this helps anyone that can't get used to the Full Screen mode.

I will create another version next week without the full screen feature.
But I still need to keep the spacer or the four buttons on the bottom will not align correctly.

OK tried to install AdvanceConfig an no dice on both version. Had to do about 5 soft-resets thus far. Let me try and install NETCFv2. Maybe thats needed.softreset again. And still not working ...

Been banging on the buttons to see what the phone will do ..... . My OZ wont open whats with this rom ... I am a little sad. had to softreset after trying to use it ....

GREAT !!!!! Activesync is working correctly now ..... I choosed to change the splash screen and it worked flawlessly.

Ok the wifi is working correctly now. Able to use both browsers at once and update weather ... Just PERFECT ttran001 !

OK the MMS/SMS is not 100% but its working. You can't get the options menu to choose MMS settings, You also can't choose servers. There are registry values missing ... Well it basically only affects what I want to do which is send larger files. ....

Now for you folks who ask the same question 100 times. NO !!!!!! The MMS/SMS 1.2M hack doesn not work. YES !!!!! You have to apply the thread_sms hack inorder for threaded MMS/SMS to work.

So if you want to complain about a rom remember if you don't speak up and tell the cook what you do and don't like then don't say anything at all. The cooks here are doing this out of appreciation , admiration and love of the art of cooking. If you think it is so easy then put out your own rom.

Now remember I tested this on a t-mobile wing . A lot of these problems may not occur on all phones. So if you have a different phone please post your findings.

I installed oxismemory even with it already being installed as I feel that the pre-installed versions dont work well and I love this application.

All the buttons work from the comm manager screen with the sexy new look . . The rom has power and is a good addition to ttran001 collection. Enjoy folks. Now iContacts is a beautiful phonebook / contact application and fit perfectly in thsi rom.

had serious problems with running a few apps then realized the netcf3.5 wasn't working. tried to install it and got errors saying a later version was already installed and to remove it first. I got the 3.5 test version and it installed but my apps still didn't work (advanced config 2.x and bsweather). the little windows wheel would start spinning and never stop and freeze everything.

Also, having random freezing - reboot required.

Everything else worked great!

Ive flashed all of your roms from 3.0 on. I just flashed the dimond lite and i cant seem to establish a DATA connection. all of the settings are correct and i have run network wizard. I notice in com manager that the option to turn on DATA is grayed out.

i like the 5.3 biggy I had zero issues but just wanted to get teh clock. Any help would be appriciateed. thanks,

Encountered two problems in Lite Diamond version.
1) Comm manager blurs when you change a setting in it.
2) Data connection is unstable (tried to use official settings from Leaf as well as built in network wizard.) it keeps dropping and reconeccting. Any advice on this?
Other than that, this is a perfect ROM. :D

thread sms fix works, you just have to download the file posted by pureskillzzz and apply the fix. I had problems with netcf in the diamond version as well. Are you still planning to release a 5.3 org? It seemed to work the best for me but i don't want to go back to 5.2 if 5.3 is going to be up anytime soon lol.

its a theme partly ported from the new htc diamond. if you search this site for the htc diamond you will find an area where ttran more than likely grabbed the clock.

check out the video for the diamond. it is awesome, i especially like the way it shows the weather. hopefully they can port it completely over.

5.2org MMS/SMS working 100% ... The fix that ttran001 uploaded is the same identical file that is already in the rom . I tested his file , the file from 5.2org and the file from 5.3 biggie. All 3 are the same so I opted to use the file from 5.3 biggie as its working in the rom already.


Method 1


1.) Flashed 5.3 biggie to your phone.

2.) Run the network wizard

3.) Let network wizard restart phone.

4.) Send a MMS message to anybody.

5.) Let anyone send a MMS to you.

6.) Open Total Commander

7.) Goto \Windows

8.) Goto file thread_sms.htm

9.) Click File >> Properties

10.) Check box Change... Then check Read only , Hidden , System.

11.) Press OK.

12.) Soft Reset device.


Method 2

1.) Download my file Pureskillzzz thread file.rsr and extract thread_sms.htm . (at the moment its on my ftp)

2.) Copy it to the windows directory using activesync or Total Commander.

3.) Open Total Commander

4.) Goto \Windows

5.) Goto file thread_sms.htm

6.) Click File >> Properties

7.) Check box Change... Then check Read only , Hidden , System.

8.) Press OK.

9.) Soft Reset device.

You now have working threaded SMS/MMS in 5.2 org

how much was it from amazon? (link shows their out of stock) I picked mine up from the frys in Industry (I live in San Dimas used to work in Baldwin Park on Arrow and Maine) Frys was $25 for 4gb Kingston.

So far so good on 5.2 org haven't had a chance to fully test it yet though this may be the rom I'm looking for finally with windows live for my hotmail and other key features. I noticed I kept having to toggle wifi after getting disconnected but I believe its my router at home.

I've been trying to download the new version of Windows Live Search. When installing, the bar will completely fill but the wait cursor pops up and it won't completely install. Tried soft reseting, and I noticed it was in my list of programs after the reset, but the program would not open.

k, it was not just me who had issues with that version of windows live not installing. That's why I stuck with the stock rom so long I'm glad the 5.2 org has it built in for push with hotmail just makes it easier. I'll try the other link to download it if I try any other Roms thanks! Has anyone tried flashing the new radio that's posted in herald rom development yet with 5.2 org or any other Roms otherwise? People are claiming better reception with it.

try the OT 5.0UL rom that ttran posted, it runs pretty smooth once you fix the sms/mms issue( just follow the instructions that was posted on page 70-80 i think. Been using it for a few days and theres no major issues ( the live search and google maps just have to be reinstalled and thats it - they work fine after that.

And the radio rom is worth it.. better signal strength in areas that you might have weak signal or no signal in.

Download schaps configuration tool ( 2.0.xxx ) whatever the newest one is also... needed for any roms that you flash so you can tweak the settings. http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=1367082&postcount=1

Just tried this, still hangs up on install screen.

Hmmm...could possibly be a problem with the file itself. I did download it a few days ago on a different ROM and it worked though.

Thanks, I got it....one last question, my main screen has the weather on it, how can i change it to the screen that has the icons on it like livesearch, IE, google and etc....

I know this was posted a while ago but I did not see it get answered so here it is.... if you do not want the weather as the main page in UL go into Ul config. and under "manage tabs" select the one you want for default. Then press change, go into the "tab" file on top (not "tabs") and then check the box to start that tab on startup. You will have just changed your default screen. I have the agenda tab and it is nice having UL default to my calendar. Hope this helps someone.....
