To change the theme place the two attached files in the \Windows\WM7ish folder and overwrite, then tap an empty spot on the blue background, hold and select "Reload theme". Either make the start bar come up or add Today Screen plugins to taste. :)

The original theme with my edits is attached to the post. You'll still need the rlToday plugin.

I don't know how, and besides you still have to reload the theme or reset the phone anyway. This might even actually be easier than a cab - you copy two files to a folder and reload the theme.

You cant remove cooked programs but you can remove the icons and install what you wish .

i would talk for like 6 hours and then call time would say like 5 mins
i think it counts the amount of time you spend talking with the screen ON. I tend to turn off the screen while talking

If I made the startbar come to the front by opening/closing the phone, it caused the scroll bar, because all the elements (start bar, rltoday skin, htchome, battery status theme) are too big.

Edit: Oh, I see. You got the startbar to be "ON TOP" rather then being on the same "level" as the other today elements, so it covers the rltoday plugin, rather then shifting it down.

Edit2: I find my mod "cleaner" - the entire element is there and not covered up by anything. Although, this wouldn't have been made if you answered my question on this when I first posted it, robpet.

Plug your Wing into the PC, navigate to "\Windows\WM7ish\" copy "skin.xml" to your PC, edit the file with notepad or Dreamweaver, save it and copy it back to the wing overwriting the existing file. Then, tap and hold an empty spot of the blue bg on the today screen and click reload skin.

I glad that their are folks trying to help edit the themes.

But I would rather have it fixed in the rom itself without having people adding fixes to it after flashing.

If your going to try and hack stuff used in my roms, please contact me first.

The ideas and the way the today screen looks took me some time to come up with.

I just want at least a pm asking me if it's cool to hack and post or not.

Plus when people add hacked versions it make it confusing for others.

I would rather update the rom with it already included.

I mean no offense.

I didn't realize simply squeezing an image file and changing a few lines in an XML constituted an insult. I like your rom and the today screen, I simply wanted to have the startbar and the wm7 style clock. I put it out there so others could see what and how I did it and possibly do it for themselves if they wanted to.

Don't think of it as a "fix" ttran, because nothings broken. Think of it more as our visual styles differ.

I've removed the linked files from my server and deleted the attachment from my other post.

that was happening to me, i got it back by going into the windows folder and running quickmenu from there, then when it was running going to options under quickmenu and creating a shortcut from quickmenu set up, so if it dissapeared again i wouldnt have to go lookin for it again

If I had to use one ROM with no changes whatsoever, it would be your OT5.0UL. It is GREAT!

Fortunately thru the efforts of you and all the other great contributors to this site, I have learned to change and experiment with a few hacks to make your wonderful rom conform to my visual preferences. I now have the PERFECT wing rom thanks to your hard work and generosity.

There is no one visual expression that can please everyone, but your roms can give anyone the engine needed to make the Wing a good phone.

Once again, I really appreciate your work and as far as I am concerned you are the man of the moment. :)

I am new to flashing and my first flash was Open Touch v5.0 Lite Daimond. There were a few things that I wasn't likeing. (Buttons at bottom not shoing not able to read text messages without moving to deleted even after trying the sms fix) So I wanted to flash to the 5.3 biggie but every time I attempt the flash the RUU will get the the point of the loading bar then tell me that the phone isn't responding. I have tried reflashing back to the hard-spl, the 5.3 biggie and even tried a reflash with the v5 lite. All come up with the same error. I have made sure the option in usb to pc settings is checked. The reason that I am posting in this thread is due to the fact the issue started with this ROM. I have searched up the error code and I am not finding anythign on the forums. Any help would be greatly appricated. I even tried doing this in guest mode.

Before I posted I tried searching again. (Still no luck) But I had a crazy idea to load the bootloader myself and it appears to have worked. In case I missed this somewhere else or if anyone else has the same problem might want to give that a try.

Congratulations on fixing the issue that you had while flashing your rom. However the lite versions are for more advanced users.. If it is your first time flashing always use the biggy first ( when dealing with ttrans roms ).

To the people that are asking questions about the sms/mms issue, please take the time to read pages 55 and up, or kindly take a gander at the very first page, there are instructions how to fix it.

Concerning the issue with the screen not turning on after it sleeps.
It happens to me too, but you dont always have to soft reset the phone. This happens to me probably once every 2 days if that, but i found to just take your time pressing the button, and if you have to soft reset its not that big of an issue. I am trying to figure out whats causing the issue also.

If you are modifying ttrans roms today screen please respect his thread by posting them in a seperate thread, the man has put in a lot of long hours, hard work, blood sweet and tear, ice cold beers, time away from the wife, to have someone pump his thread with altered today screens. When you do that people automatically think that ttrans roms come like that or that he can make your screen like that, and probably a boatload of PM's and instant messages.

Ok to I am on my 12th try here (no I am not exagerating) and it still is not working. I applied this same fix when I flashed the UL version and had no problem, but with the Diamond it won't work.

ummm ok the instructions where followed by all who had the problem and yet they still did not work so even those these have the same instructions there is a slight difference that has this fix working for the diamond rom and they may have been posted in the forum in other parts of the forum but not all in one place for the people that were having the same problem to read and try it this way

You might want to also try going to start-->accessories-->rom settings.

Check Contacts mode and see what you have there. For me, I prefer pocket CM so I had that installed and use that currently.

Did you try installing iContacts and started running into issues? It should already be included in the rom.

You can use the program Total Command to reg-edit anything you like . The exact reg edit I dont know off hand but if you search the forum you will find it easy .... Also I dont have org in my phone at the moment not sure if he let an option to set it ....

I dont have the 5.2org on my phone neither but you can try a few things. In batterystatus' options go to task manager settings and theres an option to display battery icon, or try schaps advance config tool 2.0 series and theres an option there also to enable battery on today bar.

its up to you, I had the OT5 biggy version running and then the OT 5.0UL version was released by ttran and I flashed to it so quick without really putting it thru the wash, but I can tell you that the 5.0UL version is much faster than the biggy, small bugs which are related to the sms/mms issue ( which has been commented and explained how to fix on about 30 pages of this thread ). Try both and see which one you like.
Check out my blog and theres is a slide show of the pictures from my tmo wing with the 5.0UL rom on it.

I really dont remeber the what biggy had, but check this thread for pureskillzzz review no both of them, he posted whats included with the 2... to me they are about the same, really didnt have any big differences in apps that were included that i can rem ( this one has Ultimate launch on it ).

the best way is flash both of them and use them for about an hour and see which one you prefer.

there is sms on all the roms.... you might need to reflash again... sometimes you have to downgrade to the OEM rom then flash the new rom....

I didn't realize simply squeezing an image file and changing a few lines in an XML constituted an insult. I like your rom and the today screen, I simply wanted to have the startbar and the wm7 style clock. I put it out there so others could see what and how I did it and possibly do it for themselves if they wanted to.

Don't think of it as a "fix" ttran, because nothings broken. Think of it more as our visual styles differ.

It's still not working :confused: I even reflash the Black Diamond rom but still can get the contact in the sim card to show up.

I am testing out 5.0 lite diamond and one of the initial issues i am having is adding the Live Search cab either from wls.live.com or from the cab I haved saved on my home pc. I have chosen both memory card and device and reflashed in between each attempt. Battery Status stops working after each attempt as well. Could this be the culprit? I've attempted removing live search and reinstalling batterystatus v1.05 and this results in batterstatus still not working. I have also had issues flashing radio 3.18.90 to this ROM in particular using herald-uspl (which I have flashed successfully to 4.0 lite) and I can't get it to follow through. Herald-USPL runs, but the RUU won't finish and radio version remains 2.83.90. I love flashing so this type of stuff I have fun resolving. Any ideas?

EDIT: I was able to update to Radio v3.18.90 after a full charge.

I am having the same problem in that I was unable to successfully install live search in the lite diamond version of OT. I was able to successfully install it to OT 5.2 Org. Last night I successfully flashed the radio version to 3.18.90 without any problems, so I am not sure why you encountered the problems that you have.

ehh, i kinda just went off so im editing a little lol. You kind of are coming off sounding like an asshole. i know it's not your intention but come on if your gonna use someone elses work then complain without even reading/searching to see if the issues have been addressed then you should just stick with the stock rom.

nothing tha microsoft nor some other person creates for any electronic device is gonna be perfect, theres usually something wrong sometimes.... but dont be so critical on someone elses work because its not easy to make a rom, alot is involved with it, if it was that easy you being a newbie would have created one by now the way you want it and would be able to flash it and it would be perfect or almost perfect.
take the time to read from the begining of this thread ( since you just flashed you phone take a seat on the toilet and smoke a cig and read it from your device ).

I thought if there are folks like me (say first time flashers lol) who might get a lil surprised due to the biggy version then there is always an option of going for the org version...and there is not even 1% disrespect involved for ttran (he is one those folks who deserver the at most respect)...

I'm going to retort on the behalf of newbs in reply to all the constant "Go Read Newb!" replys.

First I'd like to start by saying - I agree. Read.

Telling someone to go read the OP (original post) or OP's in this thread's case is definitely not uncalled for. I've followed ttran's work since the early days of Open Touch v2.1. He and us that closely follow his masterpieces all know that tran has done nothing but offer up the simplest flashing instructions that can be, often within the first few posts of his new thread, unless there is a silly problem in the flash process.

However, there are bugs to be found in every piece of software, and people do get frustrated with it. As do the people who've either found the same bug or found the solution and have answered the same question time and time again. But, having said that, I truly think it unfair to set a thread such as this one in front of somebody and tell them "Read!" Especially considering starting I believe with v4 these threads have exceeded 1,000+ posts, and obviously never stop growing.

Think of it. You buy something from a company that says "Hey! I got this really cool piece you can put on your car and it will increase your miles/kilometers per gallon/liter by at least 20!" All excited you rush to fit said piece on with the instruction sheet provided. Then you start your car, ready to be in money saving heaven. But then you hear a clunk, and your car barely moves. Then you start hearing strange noises. It's all a disaster.

So you call up the company you bought this from and talk to their customer support. They tell you "We'll mail you the sheet that will help you trouble shoot your problems."

In a few days your manual arrives. But it's the size of a New York City telephone book. It's huge! You open the cover, and of course there's no table of contents. You start to thumb through it and you see a bunch of diagrams, you read a bit, but nothing seems like it applies to you.

You turn back to the company for advice. You think it's something small. Simple. Something they probably know off the top of their heads. You call in. "DID YOU READ OUR MANUAL?! EVERYTHING YOU NEED TO KNOW IS IN THE BOOK WE SENT YOU!" How would you feel?

Alls I'm saying is that these threads are gigantic. People have problems, and they might not always know what they're looking for. If you DO know what they're looking for, remember a few things:

1) Don't automatically assume everyone uses the same # of posts per page as you. Saying "oh it's like 3 pages back" to someone like myself that uses the maximum number of posts per page means going back 150 posts instead of 60.

2) If you DO know which post someone needs to read to solve a problem they're having, post a link to the exact post! Don't know how? You can click the post number of each and every post to open a new window with just that post in it - shown below:

3) Telling someone to "Use the search function" is unacceptable. Flat out unacceptable. Don't think that someone doesn't know how to search just because they ask about something. They might not know what to search for. If you know what they're talking about, for the love of HTC go ahead and tell them to search, but also tell them what to search for.

High and low of it all, just throw these guys a bone. I know most of you are like me and love to help as much as possible. So go ahead - be helpful, not hurtful!

P.S. I myself am not sorting through over 1000+ posts to find the various questions and matching answers to the issues I've had so far with the diamond version, and IMO that's the best one out of the bunch. I'll be reflashing back to 4.0 lite black until the issues can be finally laid to rest.

5.2org MMS/SMS working 100% ... The fix that ttran001 uploaded is the same identical file that is already in the rom . I tested his file , the file from 5.2org and the file from 5.3 biggie. All 3 are the same so I opted to use the file from 5.3 biggie as its working in the rom already.


Method 1


1.) Flashed 5.3 biggie to your phone.

2.) Run the network wizard

3.) Let network wizard restart phone.

4.) Send a MMS message to anybody.

5.) Let anyone send a MMS to you.

6.) Open Total Commander

7.) Goto \Windows

8.) Goto file thread_sms.htm

9.) Click File >> Properties

10.) Check box Change... Then check Read only , Hidden , System.

1.) Download my file Pureskillzzz thread file.rsr and extract thread_sms.htm . (at the moment its on my ftp)

2.) Copy it to the windows directory using activesync or Total Commander.

6.) Click File >> Properties

7.) Check box Change... Then check Read only , Hidden , System.

8.) Press OK.

9.) Soft Reset device.

You now have working threaded SMS/MMS in 5.2 org

for some reason, I've been having a lot of problems with the UL in the 5.0 UL version. the start bar gets messed up from time to time and the home tab of the UL often gets stuck with the rlToday pluggin (it looks like I have two rlToday on my Today screen). I remedied the problem by disabling the BatteryStatus today pluggin. It's not completely disabled. The pluggin just doesn't show.

hey guys i put 5.0UL on my wing, and i am having trouble installing the htc home proxy patch. i have tried both versions on the patch but when they install, htc home will not properly work, weather will not show up, my contacts, and the profile tab will not work. when i uninstall it, it goes back to normal

for the people WHO HAVE THE HTC HOME PROXY, can you please explain the version you have, and exactly what you did to make it work?

UPDATE: I figured it out. What i did was downloaded the HTC Home w/ the proxy all together as one. It worked great, heres the link if you guys need it. download the latest version:)

Also, if you want glossy black bars, the app is not on UL, so do this simple reg edit to get it

Just reg edit the following, hklm/software/microsoft/color/basehue=160 DECIMAL and you should be ok.

You can hard reset or reflash the rom again then the glossy black bar will show up.

turn off spacer2 in the today option of settings, and turn batterystatus back on... this fixes the problem, also occasionally you will have to run the program ( fullscreen ) in the programs menu... .

you can always download the pictures of the cartoon characters that you like, and resize them in photoshop or in any image editing software ( there are also free ones online - do a google search for the sites that do them online automatically ) and resize them to the screen dimensions, then place them in the windows folders ( or make them your background )... you can also use the program called splash screen changer ( listed on freewarepocketpc.com ) and it will do it for you..
