i have a 4gb sdhc on my wing. got it last week, works fine.
i just got my 4gig card in the mail today... works good so far i guess.

1. yes - you can use spb backup ( make sure its the latest version - the older ones will not do a complete restore )
2. please check out the OT 4.0 thread the first page has that info or you can check newbs giude to flashing. its not that hard.
3. you just flash back to the original rom the same way you flash to a modded rom - just have to find a oem rom.

dont worry about bricking the phone, if you do the steps right it wont happen...
follow the directions, its easy as hitting enter, enter, click, click, click, wait, click, enter.

And if it's stuck in some state, go to bootloader mode by pressing and holding the camera button and pushing soft reset until you see the three color screen. You can run the RUU from there to flash back to stock ROM.

BTW, which button on the phone is the "soft-reset" button? I still haven't read a single page from my phone manual.... LOL


Also, the thread that shows the instruction to flash the phone has a big red warning: "To use the NBH ways, you MUST have a SPL of 4.0 or higher. If you have a lower SPL, you WILL brick your phone."

I'm tired of reading/searching so, I'm gonna bite the bullet and ask. Has the issue with configuring the MMS size limit in 5.0 Org been worked out. The registry part is there just not the menu stuff. MMS Options exist in the main menu of text/multimedia (not Mew/MMS.... Options) but doesn't do anything.

Figured out a reg hack to get large MMS working.

1. Use a registry editor and go to HKLM\Software\Arcsoft\ArcSoft MMS UA\Config\mm1\MMSCSetting\SampleMMSC

2. Edit WAP1SendDefaultSize to be 1228800.

3. Edit WAP2SendDefaultSize to be 1228800.

Enjoy.

Use google to search for the hack settings and an explanation of how to do it. Just search for "wing" and T-zones" and you will get a hundred different forums that will instruct you on how to do it. I noticed with ot 4.0 AND 5.0ul that it was setting my network to my ISP so you will have to change this by going into connections>advanced>select network and putting it back to t-mobile data. Then you will be able to complete the hack process.

google is your friend, you can search xda developers using google or the xda search... or check out the thread on all you need for your wing... or check out www.freewarepocketpc.mobi.com ... its not that difficult.. take the time to play with your phone, get you a good memory card, and a good backup utility, and when you put everything that you need as a necessity ( basics ) do a backup and then experiment. You can pretty much find every app on this forum or use google... www.freecabs.de is a good site also, there are others just search.
i prefer opera 8.65 or operamini 4.1 ( this one is way better than the old one - plus pages load fast like you on broadband - been using the mini all day )

Yes you can.. i install all my programs and apps and games on my microsd card, the ones that get installed to the microsd card ( even though i select storage card ) i move those with pocket mechanic.. a trick to do is install everything to the microsd card, then go to remove programs and remove everything that can be run from the card, then use a launcher app to launch the apps from the sd card ( most of the registry settings stay even after uninstall, worked great with my mda = used resco today plugin or clauncher.. UL might work too for that ).. certain apps have to be installed on the device, you will find out over time..

Basically, before I flashed my ROM i was able to view www.youtube.com video (i installed Flash Video Bundle and TCPMP video player).

However, after I flashed the ROM with OT v.4.0 (I also re-installed the Flash Video Bundle & TCPMP player) but now, whenever i click on the Youtube video, I'm getting a "Player http://lax-v7.lax.youtube.com/... Unknown Error Format!" message and it won't play any video from the site at all.

Any idea why everyone??

P.S.: I already tried robpet2 suggestion on using vtap but still not working.

Ok everyone I know some of you may know about this, and some of you may not, but there is a way to watch Youtube videos on your WM6 device. And no, I'm not talking about the downloading, saving and relaunching way. It works the way it (more or less) should, you click the link and the video plays. Just use these two files that I'm posting for you. Here's all you have to do.

1. If you have a version TCPMP already installed, uninstall it. Then SOFT RESET!!!
2. Install the tcpmp.pocketpc.0.72RC1.cab file
3. Then install the FlashVideoBundle-v1-2.cab file.
4. SOFT RESET
5. Go to youtube and enjoy!

I have Skunwork Bundled Flash installed, TCPMP video player (tcpmp.pocketpc.0.72RC1.cab) installed. I have both IE and Opera Mini installed. Couldn't view any online video, keep getting those message.

I tried to open Vtap and it keep on crashing, i finally had to un-install it out.

Cool, this worked great if I'm connected through WiFi.

However, if I was connected to T-zone hack and accessing Youtube video, it won't play and still getting the same message "Unknown format"... I guess it's something w/ the Tzone setting???
No prob....you can watch vidz on edge too but you have to let it buffer a little bit. If I really want a vid bad I'll save it to my phone using the save feature. Its hands down the best player I've found that comes close to the real thing.

Well I know from past experinence that if some roms go idle the edge / gprs connection doesnt stay on until a soft reset ... Or there is a reg edit but dont remeber it exactly at the moment .....

the avon promo sounds cool, real good price.... but you can add another line dont tell them that you lost the orig one yet, get the one for 50 bucks, then report the orig phone that was damaged stolen or lost... tell them you dont have insurance and then see what bs phone you can get - or when you add the other line add insurance to the current one... and then say it was lost... worst comes to worst you can always try craigslist or ebay... cause thru insurance you still gotta pay 140 for a replacement phone... ive been paying insurance since day one and will probably never use it...

Then something in July 2008, you call in and said you want to open a new contract and close the existing one (w/o penalty). And they did that for you and also give you whatever the promotion of the new contract does ???

So you ended up with a new contract starting from July 2008 (w/ all the stuff from the promotion like free phone, free bluetooth, activation...)??? and you don't get charged $200 for the line that you opened in Jan. 2008???

Which number of Tmobile did you call exactly? I called 611 and their customer service is a POS. I once even mention Sprint SERO plan to see if they can match it and they told me to go ahead and sign up w/ Sprint... :eek:

Alright Imma give you guys a little info.
My mom is the queen of the hustle, a Puerto Rican mom best be able to get a good price on anything!.
Anyway, last week my dad was biking up in Parkchester, in the Bronx and lost his Razr. Before that, they upgraded their phones about 6 months prior and paid nothing. So my mom calls Tmo and tell em what happened and to get a replacement they would have to pay I think it was $100, (more than the cost of the phone). Mom was pist and canceled the insurance and hung up. She calls back later on that night saying her husband was really upset at the fact they have been customers since 2003 and are getting treated like this. She gets a supervisor on the phone (when you call for "upgrades" the first person you get is a rep and can't do any changes in pricing for you, push till you get above them)
Arguing with this person and basically gets my dad a blackberry for $0, as well as unlimited text for free. And a $100 rebate.

Now onto me, Now I just got a wing so now I need data. I was a tmo rep and know how this works. I call said look im out of contract what an you do for me. Alright Imma give you guys a little info.
My mom is the queen of the hustle, a Puerto Rican mom best be able to get a good price on anything!.
Anyway, last week my dad was biking up in Parkchester, in the Bronx and lost his Razr. Before that, they upgraded their phones about 6 months prior and paid nothing. So my mom calls Tmo and tell em what happened and to get a replacement they would have to pay I think it was $100, (more than the cost of the phone). Mom was pist and canceled the insurance and hung up. She calls back later on that night saying her husband was really upset at the fact they have been customers since 2003 and are getting treated like this. She gets a supervisor on the phone (when you call for "upgrades" the first person you get is a rep and can't do any changes in pricing for you, push till you get above them)
Arguing with this person and basically gets my dad a blackberry for $0, as well as unlimited text for free. And a $100 rebate.

Now onto me, Now I just got a wing so now I need data. I was a tmo rep and know how this works. I call said look im out of contract what an you do for me. Well I got my wing for free plus a $50.00 rebate ..... I am happy .. Now I lost it and insurance says $110.00 . Not bad so 2 wings for a total of $60.00 I say a good deal ....

the best way to find out is to make a backup of the UL version with the latest spb backup( the old ones wont back it up completely ).. then flash to the biggy.... readup on how to use the UC before doing so, that way things can go quicker with installing your apps back on the different rom....

OK I see you do read so I will make this simple and easy . The same program used for the wing works for your phone . I am not sure if the wing settings are ok for you but you can use this program to map the keys how you want them and then save it as a file so you dont have to remap ecver agan . And if you do this PLEASE save it so others can utilize your work as well . duprade did the version I am using I will post it here for you to download.


And a note . No it wasnt a test as posted I installed duprades fix.

I'm not changing to the biggy version, I was just curious. I absolutely love the avatar for the UL. I will keep this forever unless ttrans make an avatar better than the UL. Thanks for you responses...

please take the time to read... the windows bar will show again when you slide the keyboard out...
if you want to hide it you have to do the fullscreen then reload....
you might want to adjust the hieght of UL to make it fit... its posted in this thread... i think the settings should be hieght of 150 or 135 - something like that.

I haven't had any memory leak issues. My storage space is 20mb and my program space is 24mb free space. You must have a ton of other stuff loaded on your rom.

I have had a few issues with memory leaks...considering the phone becomes unresponsive, and then at times the phone will lose the SMS data and a soft-reset fixes the issue and the SMS messages are there.

I haven't had any memory leak issues. My storage space is 20mb and my program space is 24mb free space. You must have a ton of other stuff loaded on your rom.
i think that was the issue... but its all good now.... i have about 17 to 20mb of free space no the device, and 27 of free program space all the time now... but i do like the 5.0UL rom alot, just that theres new builds out that have the new stuff from the diamond rom on it

just wanted to mention i flashed radio version 3.18.90 to org rom last weekend and its working great!

1. I stream sirius satellite Radio with Sirius WM5 and noticed it rarely disconnects or buffers now. Before it would barely run for a minute or two.

2. Signal strength/Coverage is way better.

3. Battery life? Good under normal use but I am streaming and listening to sirius via bluetooth earpiece. The combination kills about 50% of my battery in about an hour and a half.

its not that difficult... just copy all your sim contacts to the device, then sync them with outlook or live, and then disable the sim contacts - problem solved..
If I knew how to write the programs for ppc i would be rich!!!!

thats all in the minds of ttran... if you want you can try the lite version - less memory issues.. or try a different rom - ttran is working on one but had a setback with his wing ( read previous pages )...

Im trying to do it but i cant flash everyday... need my phone for work... if i had a extra wing it would be no problem ( funny thing is almost all the roms that people cook have the screenshot program on there.. its not that hard )

let us know what color ttran makes for you, and if its a .cab file I like the button style too but the color was a little funk. I ended up installing the grey HTC Dialer which I really like, it also has a call timer which I had to have because I couldnt deal with not visually knowing whether my call was active or nott.

I was waiting on an update (non-buggy) version of the UL version of this ROM....has it been updated? I may be repeating a question but TTran hasn't updated the first few posts of the thread with info as he usually does (maybe soon, Tran?), and I don't know when I'll have the time to read 100 pages of threads.

the best way to use the roms and learn about them and the features is to flash it and work around the bugs.. reading and searching the threads is like deet! you can get equiped to kill the bugs.

Yeah Im running the "HTC New Dialer" It has the timer which is why I got it. I can pess send, hit right on the d-pad and it brings up call history, then selecting a call shows detailed history of all calls to the number and lengths of calls. Pressing down brings up speed dial. Smart Dialing works great too for finding contacts just spell them out with the alpha-numeric.

My one big issue with 5.0 UL is that I can't fit HTC weather + battery bar + the rltoday clock in one today screen. Is there any way I can shrink the HTC weather bar? It takes almost half the screen...

Also, I am uploading the 5.0 UL to my own website, so it is not on rapidshare...

Anyway to resolve this issue? It minimizes things i open and solely takes over the screen to advertise this message, gets quite annoying.

BatteryStatus displays that message on OLD BETA versions. Simply upgrade BatteryStatus to the latest beta and the message will go away.

what the heck is with rapidshare ive tried to download the 5.0 UL for 2 days, finally fed up with it i tried my other 3 computers in the house none of them working eathier, so i called my buddy and had him try he said same thing so is there ANYWHERE ELSE i can get the current version of open touch 5.0 UL???

My one big issue with 5.0 UL is that I can't fit HTC weather + battery bar + the rltoday clock in one today screen. Is there any way I can shrink the HTC weather bar? It takes almost half the screen...

Also, I am uploading the 5.0 UL to my own website, so it is not on rapidshare...

Thank you. Works great. After spending 3 days I am now back to where I was with the OT 4.0 Biggy version. My feeling is that this ROM is a little bit sluggish compared to the OT 4.0 Biggy version. I don't have the the time to reflash the 4.0 version but will consider doing that in summer vacation. Thanks for the help of many people in this forum.

Do you use SiriusWM5 or something else? I can use SiriusWM5 with windows media player, but when i check use TCPMP, it does not play anything via TCPMP (almost like it isn't really installed or something). Any ideas?

just wanted to mention i flashed radio version 3.18.90 to org rom last weekend and its working great!

1. I stream sirius satellite Radio with Sirius WM5 and noticed it rarely disconnects or buffers now. Before it would barely run for a minute or two.

2. Signal strength/Coverage is way better.

3. Battery life? Good under normal use but I am streaming and listening to sirius via bluetooth earpiece. The combination kills about 50% of my battery in about an hour and a half.

Yeah, I actually flashed all the open touch series, and I found 3.0 biggy seemed to work the best. The others tended to be glitchy and slow at times. If you spend the time and setup 3.0, you can make it fly. I think in the past 2 days, I've tried every rom on here! lol.

i have been struggling with ot 5.0 biggy(and UL version). Sorry but this post is meant from a newbie perspective and not to bash the rom chef. I am sure these are easy to resolve, however it will be good if the solutions are posted in some kind of wiki or first page posts.
The main problems are

1) scroll bar ! (it appears for no reason several time) and is hard to get rid of

2) The top task bar. it did not appear. Then I read that I need to slide out the keyboard to activate it. OK. But the task bar is default blue color not black like rest of screen. so it looks bad. Also now scroll bar is permanently on the screen. Also missing is the battery power indicator. yesterday my phone beeped with a message saying batter is low. Then I realized that battery power icon on top bar is missing.

3) Comm-manager. when turning something on or off, the text gets garbled.

4) a very minor issue - first time after flashing the number of missed call on home screen shows xxx instead of 0. however after first call that works fine.

I loved the UL theme and definitely will flash to it once I can get rid of scroll bar permanently.

yeah siriuswm5 is what i use but i have not tried it yet with tcpmp I got it to work once on my Treo 700w but i think the tcpmp i used was ver. 82rc. try geeks toolbox forums where siriuswm5 is hosted they prob have the answer.

Use back glossy bars. Thats a program not a joke ... LOL .. and there is a program you use i forgot the name of it . it makes the screen move back to normal size . Ok make it easy give me a screen shot mate ...

I manually removed TCPMP and reinstalled it in the more "conventional" directory. It works now as well as youtube still (I repushed the flash video bundle to be sure). I totally love this 5.2 Org ROM. It is simply awesome. I have lots of room and a slick looking Wing.

I had exactly the same problem with OT c5.3 Biggy.
Didn't find a solution to solve this SMS issue..

I tried the new Touch It ROM, and the sms started working again...

I Loved this ROM but without SMS.. I can't stay with it...
I've readed a lot of things.. but my point is, with other ROMs it works without setup ou patches... why this one won't work?

So bad I have to change to other rom :(

So im def a ttran rom fan this is my third version since 2.5, my question is...ive had the same 'problem' well guess u can call it an inconvenience with all versions so far. the roms run perfect after the tweaks and fixes (mms/sms etc...) but i cannot go ONE day wothout having to soft reset. My home screen always ends up distorted and blurred about mid-day, i run the hibernate programs often to free up memory but cannot figure out why this always happens. Im forced to soft reset to get things normal looking and running again. Am i the only one experiencing this? Any ideas or solutions?

if your screen is blurred then it's not the ROM. I would suggest that you lower your CPU clock.
