Yes I searched. Keep getting Reviews of the roms, which I read throughly.

I have to admit ive been trolling this forum for sometime and am upto speed with the "hap happenings here".

I was messing around with resco file explorer, and do not know if it was responsible for this issue or how to fix it. I did uninstall it BTW.

When I click Programs from my start menu, it now displays the "classic" programs viewer (file explorer-ish)

I want to know what program, or mod is it that allows programs to be viewed a-la Windows XP style.

While im on the subject, is there one that does the "vista style viewer" (program with a scroll bar)

And If I am wrong in what the Program button, explorer, thingy is called can someone give me the the proper name so I can find it,

I believe your talking about quickmenu and its crashed on me a few times just open it back up its in the windows folder but i put a shortcut in the programs folder just in case

Well, I'm having a weird issue with my phone. Program states are not being saved after a soft reset. What I mean is, ex: Total Commander saves the last folder you were in after you exit it. Like if you were in \Appdata, and close the program, it'll start back up in \Appdata. Then if you change folders, it'll start back up next time in the last folder.

When I soft reset, it doesn't. The last folder I browsed was \Windows\AppDB. I changed to my storage card\my documents to look at a picture I took, then when I soft-reset and launched Total Commander it started up in \Windows\AppDB, not my Storage Card\My Documents! The Arcsoft messaging app similarly doesn't display new messages after a soft reset. I had a whole conversation with a friend that's simply gone after a soft reset.

Looks like I'm gonna have to hard reset.

Still happening after a hard reset. It's like the entire system state is saved and any changes made after that save is ignored. I have no idea what's going on.


Edit2: Still don't know what's happening. Some settings are changing, some are staying. I sent a bunch of test messages between my two phones and half of them stayed, half of them went away. It saved my BT settings and pairing, but Total Commander still starts up on the wrong folder.

be aware thogh, that is some combinations of TTRans rom and quickmenu, if you enable certain parts of the batterystatus topbar, sometimes you will lose the quickmenu. Like when i enable the CPU mhz icon to show in the top screen. id lose quickmenu. remove that opetion, quickmenu returns. just an FYI from something i experienced. but it certainly could have been a product of something i did as well.

If not, I think you can just copy (unzip it first) this to your windows folder, run the program start/quickmenu/option and make sure auto start when system starts is selected. This should put the link in your startup folder so it starts every time you start up your phone. As far as your other problem, not really sure. I would normally think I would be doing something wrong, if it didn't just happen all of a sudden. I have flashed this phone with a few different roms and never had this problem before. I haven't changed my method on flashing, so I don't understand why it would mess up all of a sudden. I have followed the fix to a T, but does that even apply to the issue I am having?

When I hit the phone soft or physical buttons, the buttons come up black (as they should) but the background is white.... any ideas why the graphics would not load properly?

i really didnt try the 3.21.90 radio too long cause at work i couldnt get a good signal, so I switched back in less than a day... I will try the 3.21.90 again to see how good it is with the battery, but my main issue is reception, dont care too much about battery right now cause I keep my charger with me all the time at work. But the 3.18.90 radio gives me signal bars pretty much everywhere i go that i couldnt get a signal with on the 3.21.90 radio..

I will try the 3.21.90 again to see how good it is with the battery, but my main issue is reception, dont care too much about battery right now cause I keep my charger with me all the time at work. I went to page 1 and the 7th post and there is no mention of any ftp. I did find a link to your ftp site from one of your other posts. I did see it on other posts but not on page 1 post 7. Anyway, you list the name as mda and the pass as xda....doesn't work. Is there any place to get this rom...I would love to try it.

Tran, glad to see your back. I am wondering if you are going to be working the bugs out of the current OT5 versions or if you are going to start something completely new. I love the look of OT 5 UL but there were too many bugs for me to be able to effectively use the rom and I ended up going back to OT4. Just wondering if you will be working on those again or not. Thanks for everything you do and for the generosity of the member that helped you out with the wing.

I just downloaded the biggy version of 5.0. I realize there is no voicedial nor voicecommand included. I was able to locate the cyberon voice command cab as well as the cyberon voice dial cab. I am not able to access either one of the programs by touching the button directly on the bluetooth. Can anyone help me? Is there a registry tweak that I can try or does anyone have a cab of anything that already works. Id appreciate it ...thanx

for making my wing work. I sent the thing in under warranty 4 times with the tmobile rom, lock ups, no memory, couldn't take pictures half the time because it was out of space. I am an official ttran fan since v3. Now on biggie 5.3 w/pointui. Donation in!

it does work... just sometimes it wont work on your first try...
when using his method, click "now" first then change per the instructions... then when you finish click " change or now" again... exit total commander and go back to make sure the changes stayed before soft resetting... also make sure the items checked have a Dark black check not a grey check.....
take the time to read more... theres almost 80 pages of this thread dedicated to people not being able to get the msgs working / and people helping others get it working...

I tried to disable all visible rows and let today plugin be activated but it still won't work then. it does work... just click on the icons at the bottom ( if i recall thats how it looks - you have to do this on the onscreen batterystatus, not on in the start -> settings -> today options ) disable the hkey option for speed... then go back and go to batterystatus options and choose the speed that you want..

I think we better to upload everything we did to our cellphones to just one ftp folder. I can create and share password on rapidshare or on my ftp.

it does work... just click on the icons at the bottom ( if i recall thats how it looks - you have to do this on the onscreen batterystatus, not on in the start -> settings -> today options ) disable the hkey option for speed... then go back and go to batterystatus options and choose the speed that you want..

I know the older version of live search should work on the lite diamond rom, strange that that newer version doesn't work. The older live search cab is below. Hope it helps.

I'm using 5.3 Biggy (which is an excellent ROM btw) it has icontacts which was working fine but now everytime I click on the contact link from the home screen it reverts back to the normal contact format rather than using icontacts??? Is there any reason for this or anything I can do to ensure it always uses icontacts.

check you softkeys in settings and make sure that icontacts is still assigned to that button.

I checked that its blanked out and wont allow me to edit... I was generally using the link on screen to reference contacts not the soft key... the soft key still takes me to contacts but again not icontacts...:confused:

I have v5 diamond lite installed.

After the flash of the rom, I also installed voice speed dial cab and activate it vial voice button on the right side of my wing.

One feature that I like in OEM rom was the ability to activate voice speed dial vial bluetooth headset.

As of now, the bluetooth button activates the phone application.

Does anyone know where in the registry the path to bluetooth applications exists? so that I can change mine to voice speed dial.......

I had the same problem until i found a program called flash center. now it is very simple. I've flashed my phone with several roms.

I could email it to you if you want (1.2 megabytes)
or just search the forum for it.

but you will need to do 3 things:
1. Find A stock rom in case you brick your phone (this is a fix for it). They have one right on the tmobile site if you have a wing. here is the link: http://www.t-mobile.com/wmupgrade/
you will only need this if you brick your phone or if you want to go back to stock. Just plug your phone in and run it and it will restore your phone to stock. If you brick your phone then you have to boot into boot load mode first by soft reseting and holding the camara button. once in boot load mode then plug your phone into the usb, and run the program to restore your phone.


2. "flash center.rar"
- obtain and Unrar flash center. If you dont have a program, I use "7 zip" it is free.

-**Important** place the whole folder "flash center" on the root level of your c drive.

3. Obtain a rom file
- unzip it or whatever you have to do

- look for a file the ends in ".nbh" i.e. "Open Touch v4.0 Biggy Vista 2.nbh"

- you need to place this file inside the "RUU" folder located in "Flash Center" the path should look like "C:\Flash Center\RUUOpen Touch v4.0 Biggy Vista 2.nbh"

-Now back out of this folder and go back to C:/Flash Center"

-Look for the file called "herald-uspl"

- Make sure your phone is plugged into active sync and the icon is green (but the sync is not in progress). Also Make sure that you turn off the phone radio and put the phone in flight mode

- in about 10 minutes your phone should be flashed...

There are a few extra steps after that are listed in the thread about the rom. but the main one seems to be:
ON your phone, goto "settings/connections/network wizard" and choose your carrier.

UPDATE: never mind, i got tired of not being able to use SMS so i installed SMS Chat by VITO Technologies, works great!!! Worth the cash if you text as much as my family makes me.

Congrats on your first flash...welcome to the addictive world of customizing your device! In a month you will be very proficient in flashing..after your 90th time =) TTran's OpenTouch is awesome isn't it! I had a problem with OT5.3 Biggy to so i ended up going back to 4.0...can't wait for 6.0 to come out. I prefer the looks of OT 3.0 the best though!

But to try and fix your issue, try sliding the Wing open then closing it, see if that fixes the issue. I have a problem where the top bar disappears on me and that fixes it.

I have tried searching and haven't found much info about the problem.

This is the first thread that I've seen in the herald forum with some serious, for a lack of better words, cattieness? I mean come on, I for one don't mind, hell I enjoy the trouble shooting and have developed a speed reading capability that helps to go through the pages upon seemingly endless pages in this place. But the responses from some of the older members in this forum is quite surprising.
Not all members have the time or luxury, hell, I don't. My wife can't stand the sight! Me staring into the computer. She wakes up to go pee, 4:30 a.m., me, staring at the computer. I have to get up and teach in the morning. So what!?

This is off topic - but i have the motorola h710 and it works great, very easy to use, no problems with sound quality on either end.. only issue with bluetooth headsets and pocket pcs, is that sometimes you cant holster the phone on the same side of you body that the bluetooth is in your ear ( causes interference and sometimes loss of sound )...

Did not correct the issue, the entire start bar at the top completely disappears, only way to get it to reappear is to slide the keyboard. I know this is a simple task but would really prefer to not have to slide the keyboard everytime i want to view that bar.

No change, also there is not a theme option, I am using the Chi-Tai v0.05.126 even v0.04 did not show but it did on open touch 4.0

that was my next suggestion, but the newer ones doe work, there are a few issues with BS depending on what other plugins are running on the screen, and it looks like he has resco today plugin running and that causes a conflict with BS ( something similar happened to me while running resco and a new version of BS, but I thought it was just me. )

yeah i removed the rltoday plugin, it looks nice, but I havent figured out how to change the time to military, and the amount of space it took up didnt really work for me.

I can do that, but i need battery status to show first, from the beginning prior to installing anything battery status would not show, and i have tried this on 2 separate wings so far, i have a 3rd i am going to load this rom on in the next couple days and see if it does the same.

for two straight days, i've been searching for an email/sms/mms fix.

my symptoms: tapping the email or sms tabs on HTC home would not open the messages window. i tried to open the messages icon in the programs folder and still no dice. i could not send/receive messages either.

i've tried the methods posted in the beginning of this thread. i've tired sms tweaker 1.5 and reinstalled arcsoft mms. i've tried everything from changing the registry to installing weird cabs. even though i tried all these methods, none of them fixed my email/sms/mms issue.

so here is my fix:
i read on this thread http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=354001 and it suggested to delete/rename attachments folder from the SD card. I deleted that folder and all of a sudden, i can open emails/sms/mms.

i was so close to reflashing, but i was hesitant because i liked my set up and didn't feel like reinstalling all the programs, contacts, settings, and tweaks all over again.

p.s. i'm running open touch 5.2 Org, 247OC, s2u2, and a bunch of other stuff.

I'm going to go with the original radio for all the roms and will make available different radio versions for you folks to install after flashing the roms.

Please remember that battery life might not be as good but the reception should be a lot better with newier raido versions.

To me it's a choice we all have to make, I have a charger most of the time so battery life does not matter to me. I want to be able to make and receive calls.

Open Touch 5.3 biggy

with 5.3 biggy the rom is cooked to not have the top bar. its part of the aesthetic. i know when you open and then close the key board the bar shows up but its not permanent.

maybe the diamond rom??? if you like the apps on biggy that might not work. i'd say its your best bet though. all the apps on biggy can be found in cab form and placed on the mem card, a great space saver. im running the diamond after having tested the others. they all have sweet speed. the diamond was the quickest IMO. the U.L. and clock on the others were just eye candy. diamond is a performer.

The Radio refers to the cell phone's antenna/broadcasting capabilities and is not for listening to AM/FM or satalite music etc.

Some newer radio builds give better reception but use a little more battery; it's a personal preference

Hello! I'm loving this rom (OT 5 Biggy)! Was so scared of bricking my phone but so so tired of the stock tmobile rom - so slow and bloated, memory leaking, etc that I bit the bullet. Chose ttran's cuz of the great reviews and features. Thanks for al of the hours you've put into this!

After reading all of the directions and guides, the flash went well. I'm just having some problems configuring the Today screen to my liking. Looking at TTrans's avatar - the bar at the bottom with the 4 tabs - I tapped/held and was playing with the options and the damn thing disappeared. How do I bring those (and the options menu) up again? Is that part of the HTC Touch launcher? I searched but got a bit lost in the maze of links....

ok I flashed my wing with open touch 5.0 diamond lite and then itspoppablack rc5 a few minutes after that...im not sure when it happened but i realized the up button on the d-pad wasn't working...then the left...then down...then right...meaning ALL of them are out now...BUTTTT if i slide the keyboard open they all function perfectly fine...I figured it must be a software problem so i flashed to the t-mobile stock rom (haven't seen it in forever =p) buttt the problem is still here. this time all the d-pad buttons didnt work right off the bat...but once again if i slide the keyboard open they all magically work? now i wouldn't mind too much but im selling the phone friday...so i need to fix this! maybe i could just say its a feature of the phone...d-pad lock to prevent accidents until keyboard slides open =p haha nah really could someone help me?! it cant be hardware problem they all work perfect if i slide the keyboard open...any suggestions would be great! thankyou.

If your having the same problem with more than one rom then it's more likely a hardware issue.

Probably has a loose connection on the cable and when you slide it, the D-Pad starts working.

You have to delete a file in the windows/startup folder.

Good Lookn out on the info. I'm not sure they are talking about the same thing. Just so I'm clear I was refferring to the taskbar that runs along the bottom of the screen that would have the calendar and contacts links within it. On 5.3 it doesnt have it, but I would like to have it appear there as it does in the reg T-mobile ROM as well as the 5.2 Org ROM...:confused:

So I deleted Quickmenu and that made the bottom taskbar reappear which is what I wanted... I was wondering if there is anyway to retain Quickmenu and still have it reflect the bottom taskbar???

open total commander, goto /Windows, find the file "thread_sms.htm", file>properties and check off Read Only, Hidden, System, press OK, and soft reset.

I had the same problem when I tried the fix initially. Here's what to do:
1)copy the thread_sms.htm file into a folder other than the Windows folder on your device. Preferably copy it over to a storage card.
2) Use Total Commander to do the fix mentioned earlier in this thread (make sure Read Only, Hidden, and System boxes are all checked, then click the "Change" box in the Last Modified box, then click Now).
3) Use Total Commander to move the file back to the Windows directory on your device.
4) The SMS should now work :)

It took me about an hour to figure this out. For some reason it works without having to do this for some people. Thankfully I work in IT so I deal with permissions and access issues on a daily basis so was able to figure out that it was a permissions issue pretty quickly, so just experimented with a few things and this worked. I'm not so IT savvy as to know WHY it would be a permissions issue to modify files on your own phone... Probably something built into the "security" of the Windows folder...
Anyway, let me know if this works for you. If it doesn't, I can just email you my working thread_sms.htm file...

Sounds like it's your transparency settings... I don't know how to change those with this ROM. Normally when you browse to the photo and click on it to select it as the today background it gives you the ability to set the transparency but I wasn't able to do it...
You can download that free Today profile creator... I don't remember the name of it though.

just for the record i think this is the best rom, but guys, if u need to shut off the phone, dont use the shutdown app! shut it down manually!

i was at court fighting a ticket i got and when i got into the building they did a metal detector search and asked for my phone. they said make sure it's off and prior to this i was in the car and knew they would take my phone so i used the shut down app to shut it off. i fight my case and when i go to pick up my phone the lady was like, ure phone rang 4 times. i tried to turn it off myself but i didnt know how, and i was pretty annoyed. oops.:D

Hi I just installed the 5.3 biggy onto my Wing. Everything works fine on it, except that I can't hear anything from my ear piece. I have to put it on speaker phone or use my bluetooth to hear anything. Is there any way to fix this?! I installed the 6.0 onto my phone recently but I could not get the internet connection to work so I went to the 5 series instead.

Yeah I know it's an old post but I been thinking about flashing the 5.0 Lite version since all the issues with the 6.0 versions (well, ThrottleLauncher version @ least).
