I am not sure whether this is the right place to post my first attempt on Pocket PC or not in view of all the important and usefull applications.
But maybe you also have seen people playing Impossible Mission on IPhone (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=YOlWR-lgk30&eurl=http://video.aol.com/video-detail/mission-impossible-try-ipod-touch-iano/2132553818) and maybe you also wanted something like that for your XDA.
If you are interested, please check what I have created so far.
Very first Beta, only tested on XDA Prophet.
*Update*
Thank you all for your feedback
It boosts my notion to build some updates soon:
fight latency/delay
costum sounds
scrollable more keys/sounds

I have one minor complaint... Some of the notes aren't quite in tune :P
And one feature request: Having the sounds stored as files so that a "voice" can be selected/changed.

I've noticed a little quirk (at least on my Prophet) with the sounds. The first time each key is pressed, it has a small amount of lag between the keypress and the sound. After the initial press, the sound is almost instantaneous...

noticed the exact same thing after starting the program..pressing each key did initially have a small lag. But then they responded instantly afterwards.

I think a great way of adding more keys/octaves would be the ability to "grab" the keys and drag them across the screen to reveal further octaves...

Yes i also was thinking of something like that in these times of touch flow fever ;)

It works great on my XDA terra but I think it's going to be hard to do something like the touch thing with the octaves because while playing you could easily miss tunes... I would rather suggest that you make it customizable how many octaves are displayed and since its in landscape I think it's smart to put two octaves over each other then it's easier to hit the buttons since they are bigger.
But very good first try I will look into this thread more often onw ;)

If you have any more notes on the screen at a time, they keys will be too small...

It works great on my Sprint Touch but a slow delay of maybe .3 sec.
Cant you just put more octaves like on the iphone?, u know, u just press a button on the top and it bring more octaves. I hope you work a little on the delay and better sound. Very nice app man. keep it up.

That is not true multitouch. It's basically guessing where the fingers are put down.
Because of the way the touch screens and WM interact, the device shell only gets given the coordinates of a single point of contact on the screen... WM7 will support multitouch (if M$ get around to it)...

well done! , working flawlessly with almost no delay (0.01 sec.!) on my device.
suggestion :
1) more tune the sounds(!)
2) at least 2-3 octave (you have wider-range of sound plus still it's big enough that you can play with your finger)
3)different sounds (strings and digital pads would be great)

An excellent program but.... sounds like ppciano is quite out of tune. I am not a musician but I do have a piano at home and I believe it's tuned correctly. And ppciano is so out of tune (from my piano, as a reference point) that it sounds funny.... my 6-year-old son has perfect pitch and he laughed at the sounds made by the ppciano and said, "the notes are all wrong!"
But update would be bravo.
