Sim Unlocking a laptop 3G Card - Sorry if off topic

Hi,

Apologies in advance if this counts as a little off topic but I couldn't think of anywhere with more knowledge about mobile technology.

I have a Dell laptop with an integrated mobile data card (3G etc). The laptop is officially tied to Vodaphone.

Would this work with another operators SIM (e.g. Orange) or is the hardware Sim Locked like most mobile phones.

Does anyone have any experience with this?
