Hi all,

I have a HTC Touch Dual on Vodafone (Spain) and of course, everything is in Spanish.
Because I am English I thought I would be clever and Flash an English ROM (TOM_Niki-Project_WM6.1_WWE_16keys_signed_Ship.exe) .

The phone is SIM unlocked. I didn't think I would need to do anything else so I started to Flash the ROM. It got to about 4% and then it stopped and I got "Invalid Vendor ID...Ver3 - NJML5567..HUEbc07<NJM5561*" or something like that.
Tried to recover the situation with the Flash program but nothing.

I removed the battery and now it starts up with the Bootloader colour bars.
The only way I can start the phone is by using MTTY and command "boot".
Looks like WINDOWS MOBILE (spanish) program is still intact but I've upset the autoload part of the system.

All I want is an English Flash. Can anyone give me some help.
A step by Step would be great because I'm new to all this.
Do I need to CID Unlock? Do I need to run those other little programs called: "sspl-1[1].16-nike"....and "hardspl-1[1].16-nike" It's a 20 key model...will that make any difference?

ROM Model: NIKI 100
ROM Version is: 1.31.164.09
Radio Version: 1.58.16.27

Just want English Phone (sob sob) Can anyone please help? Don't want to end up with a Spanish Brick !!!!!!!!

My suggetion is to read the wiki and any stickies on flashing with your device there is where you will get step by step instructions. If that doesnt give you your solution then is when you are in trouble, and need to post something about it.

sorry if it sounds rude but try these

Thanks knudsen81 for the sspl-1 and hardspl explanations.

And thanks thakidc about the reading up thing, which I'm doing now.

Just one more question....Am I to understand that the phone needs to be CID unlocked before it can be Flashed ? or am I on the wrong track?

I guess while I've got the Bootloader colour bars...I haven't got a brick....right?

Hey wait a minute........that's 2 questions !!!! Sorry.

Thanks for all the help so far.

Tony

Great.............

Managed to Flash the ROM.

A careful step at a time seems to be the way.
Although it is a little nerve racking watching the percentage marker creeping along...and then stopping...and then starting again...whew, it got to 100%

Happy now...
Thanks everyone.
