K-Jam G4 Upgrade Question

Hi There,

I have an I-Mate Kjam in the UK which is running 2.16.0001 which i think is a G4 as the Wizard Service Tool states its a G4. It has WM5 and want to have WM6.1 or 6.0. The phone i think is unlocked as i have used 3 other sims in the same phone from other phone suppliers. What do i need to download ro upgrade it as i have been reading all the forums on here and just dont have a clue which download i need as i dont want to brick the phone

I am also runnning Vista 32Bit but have XP pro if i need to use that to upgrade

Yep i have been reading the forum and alot of people also do the same but i am just confussed on what i need as u said i need to read SoftSPL' or 'HardSPL' but what are these

To upgrade to wm6 rom,its required to have a CID unlocked phone,but a G4 phone cannot be CID unlocked like a G3 device,therefore,through these two methods,a patched IPL/SPL (Bootloaders) are flashed to a G4 device,tricking it to believe that it is CID Unlocked (SuperCID) Semi/Temporarily,to upgrade it to wm6 or wm6.1 Rom,got it ? Read the Stickies for full details, if you are looking to upgrade your phone :)

Just tried the Hard SPL for G4 everything go's ok until the ROM Update Program in windows trys to update then i get a windows box popup to say the ROM Update Ultilty program has stopped working

Which Windows you are trying on,use WinXP,hope it'll work. Vista have problems.

Am using Vista but the girl friends laptop is XP but not sure if i am allowed to use that LOL

Well the ROM Upgrade starts in windows then my phone reboots and sits at a screen with 3 couloured bars and thats it then the upgrade rom software says cannot connect

Did you get the hardSPL successfully ? what IPL/SPL it displays now ?

YUP !
It sure is HardSPL,perhaps you got connectivity problem,either your usb cable is not establishing connection or you are again doing it on Vista.
Get your phone in Bootloaders mode (tricolor screen),hook up the phone with pc via usb and check if small usb appears at the bottom of the Bootloader screen,if its there than its connecting,otherwise if not ,there's a connection problem.
If it connects than run the RUU in the rom,it'll start to flash.Activesync has nothing to do here with rom flash,its not required here.

Ok i enterted the bootloader menu and got the USB Icon showing up

I first tried on the XP PC to run the RUU and getting Error 300

Then i tired on the Vista PC and i am getting a Error 260

ok,download the 'RUU MUNS' from the HardSPL thread and extract it and copy and paste all the files in this extracted folder in the Rom folder you want to flash replacing all the similar files there and then run the RUU or copy the nk.nbf folder from the Rom folder to the extracted folder of RUU MUNS and run the RUU,hope it'll work.

Do i need to remove or reset the hardSPL or not and also is there an apllication that sets all phone compaines settings for t-mobile

Just a question on the TNT rom does it have like a touch flow feature or not

Glade you got it working finally ;)
No, there's no need to remove HardSPL,it'll stay there as semi permanent CID unlocked (SuperCID),now you can safely flash any custom build rom without any problem,but Never,I repeat Never flash any rom which have IPL/SPL in it,not even the official stock roms,as they also include IPL/SPL in it,it'll certainly "Brick" the phone.Well,by any chance you want to revert back to the official rom,than first remove the HardSPL and than revert back.
All custom build roms are not any network specific build roms,you can set it according to the network settings of your carrier,you can get the settings either from the TNT Rom thread or from the 'Networking' forum.
Yes! TNT does have touchflo feature,you'll have to read the TNT thread for how to download it and run it.

I have installed the TNT.19213 Series Pro ROM and cant seem to find anything to do with TouchFlo on the menu's also what is HTC Cube :rolleyes:

Can you tell me how to upgrade K-JAM from XP to Vista.

Hi Guys please excuse my Ignorance, I am very new to all this! I've been reading all over the place, various forums etc. but I cant seem to find anything regarding what I want to do, so I figured someone out there should have the answer.

I have an OEM HTC tytn 2 windows mobile 6.1 wwe ROM and I want to know if I would be able to put it onto my Imate K-JAM?

My K-jam is a G4 device, it is both sim and cid unlocked.

Will appreciate some good advice! THANKS
