Just to add a bit of balance - I don't give a money's about video call.

I'd much rather ROM developers concentrate on speed, reliability, and fixing bugs that cause data loss.

And this one will take really really really long.
Nobody's interested in fixing it anymore. Laurentius and Beasty once tried a long time ago for WM6 but failed.

I am afraid that we could never support unofficial WM6.1 ROM's. The software you are using is not authorised by HTC, therefore we could never guarantee that the software would work correctly. We can only assist you if you are using an authentic ROM.

What bugs me most is why did the manufacturers put a camera facing us on these phone(s) and do not make it work like they advertise it would! I makes me feel such a fool to have thought it would have ever a use on calls! Also, I was hoping we would eventually have a version of Skype or MSN mobile that would make use of it.

Remember People The UNIVERSAL Was Released As A WM5 Device And Every Feature Worked Under WM5.
The WM6 And WM6.1 Roms Are All Cooked Unnofficially and Are Technically Not Authorised.

HTC Are GAY And No They Wouldnt Release An Official WM6 Rom For The Universal Even Though Microsoft Doesnt Charge Manufacturers For The Upgrade To WM6.

If You Want VideoCall Stick With WM5. Videocall Isnt Used By Alot Of People On A Regular Basis Anyways I Dont Know One Person In The North-East Of England Who Actually Uses Their 3G Phone For Any Videocalling.

The only person I saw videocalling ever, in italy, was V. Marini in the H3G TV commercial.
Moreover if u can afford the legalized theft that is 3GVT (at least in italy), you should at least afford a newer 3G device that is also WM6 by factory.

Sure... working on 3GVT support will drain cospicuous resources away from other much-needed general purpose fixes for the rest of the operating system.
If you desperately need VT, switch back to WM5 or buy another phone -- the universal is dying.

I don't force you to use Vodafone.
I think you're part of a minority [users who actually videocall with H3G, any country] inside another minority [H3G operator users in italy].
The entire community should not bother for what a minority of a minority wants.

Anyway half of the H3G users I know wanted to switch back to a decent operator (their words) like tim or vodafone :D
The other half actually uses H3G but not for videocalling: they use the internet connection.

Videocalling is pure hype .... vaporware .... nothing ... useless ... i can't find an appropriate adjective for it...... maybe the unique stupidness of V. Marini will help you: "videochiaaaamami!" ROTFL
