WARNING: Don't expect the complete HTC DIAMOND interface, I only ported the CE OS !!!

HTC Diamond interface is in VGA and Kaiser is QVGA.

It's a prill beginning but I was so proud that I've ported the OS that I desided to share with you ASAP!

Now that it's in the air I will see what I can improve and bring over to Kaiser!

Step by step I will add more Diamond apps and more dll's to improve video acceleration and rom speed plus stability.

Per the 1st post. He's using the new 1.65 radio. If thats the case, then the answer to will the Niki radios work, is NO.

Just think, if Kyphur didnt delete posts, it might have taken 20 pages of reading to find this answer.

More than likely time restraints have not allowed him to make it a hybrid. Most of the 1.65 radios dont work on the 1.64 roms due to driver issues unless its been made in to a hybrid, meaning both versions will work. Actually, let me take that back, the radio will work but your camera wont. You also might end up with sound issues.

First i just want to clarify...

The only thing "Diamond" about this ROM is the radio and some ringtones....is that correct?

Also, on the whole moderate/deletion issue. While i appreciate the hard work the moderators put in, and I personally could do without alot of the worthless posts, I don't feel that moderators should be deleting modifying threads that comply with forum rules. If they are belligerent or profane, then ok.

But removing threads where people are excited? or asking for a download link? What's next? Removing threads of thanks or congratulations? Asking for other things that the moderator deems not necessary?

Again, I agree it is clutter, but we are used to wading through the clutter. And although I know this is a moderated forum we should expect a mostly laissez-faire attitude (with the above exceptions).

So, while I appreciate everything you have done for us Kypher, and with all due respect, I think you are overstepping your bounds. If you strongly disagree I would talk it over with the site admins and update forum rules accordingly. If there is a forum rule that already prohibits this (other than an all inclusive "moderator discretion" then please point me to it).

Feels fast. Great storage space, dynamic pagepool. Switchs from portrait to landscape fast.
You hace left Onenote and added remote desktop, great
Similar idea to Nothrills ROM
Camera is 4.08, patch installed I suppose, can't test now
Windows Live and messenger removed, I have the cab, no problem
HSDPA icon pressent
I like the choice of Comm manager too
Radio 1.65.20.29 works better for me in this ROM, i still have to test GPS

75 Mb free after installing all my usual applications, very good. with other ROMs I end with 60 - 65.

Have you considered calling HTC and selling them this as the "new and improved WM 6.1 ROM"? It's faster and more updated than theirs ;)

Display problems are common to the new HTC ROM, they need to debug those new drives. It's not good to have more bitblt speed if the things it draws get corrupted.

DDB BitBit: 0.8ms is nearly as fast as the (un)official update from HTC coming so yes, the performance improvements have been ported but not the complete drivers.

I think unless I am totally missing something here, it looks just like other roms out right now. A little frustrated because I finally had duttys latest rom all dialed in perfect and now I have to start all over on something that looks like the same thing. 3D interface? What are you talking about? The port includes references to some 2d acceleration, & is basically a hybrid w/ ported xip, & some newer drivers. If by 3d interface you are referencing 3D acceleration, then NO, the answer is NO. If you follow this topic, you'll see that there are many dependecies still not understood. & the only real improvements are gonna be rom side files using bitbit. Increases draw speed, menu items, etc. but it will not fix video or 3D gaming issues. The graphics index on the Diamond port ROM's I've seen though have been near 5000. Big improvment for general redraw speed, but don't expect to be playing Doom or high quality video at amazing speeds.

One issue with contacts

After choosing a contact the screen is all white under the summary view. You can tap and hold on the contact and choose options from there.

Does some one have a link to the new task manager with the big touch points...I installed the JuVS_Large Title bar and now the installed taskmanager not displaying.

There's posts in the forum, and in Leo's last thread, on how to get weather to work. I think it was Tater who posted an HTCHome.dll in a zip. Use that, you should be good.

This ROM looks like all other Kaiser ROM's...

It seems to be the fastest ROM I've ever had on my device.

Biggest changes I've found so far:
- new camera app v4.08 build 30595
- cool animated HTC logo on startup
- it's fast

I'm not able to sync because on working on my laptop right now.
So I've tried to restore a backup using PPCPimBackup.
I only restored contacts and my agenda.
Agenda seems fine, but contact is not working correct.. ..when I select contacts I see all contacts and I can switch between numbers using the DPad. The problem occurs when I want to open a contact. It only show to TAB's that are empty, they're called: Summary and Notes.

Ive seen a few of the newest roms doing this. IMO this is HTC's way of preventing alot of the problems that people get by not hard resetting after a flash. In a way they are doing it for you. My guess is they want to make sure there is nothing left in memory. As stated in another post regarding whether to still hard reset, I would still do it.

I have had issues with most of the recent roms...screen sensitivity, bt headset not able to call voice speed dialer, missing dlls...This ROM has none of those issues and screen redraws are very fast.

It is a little better, but i agree with you. Hopefully we will get some driver support. The sites I read looked promising.(crossing fingers)

screen draws are SUPER fast.... faster than ive ever seen. no 3d interface though. overall, a VERY fast rom, but missing a lot of the tweaks and bonuses of his latest cooks. Screen flip is also very quick, and it doesnt flip in parts, it is a 100% flip when you slide out the keyboard.

This ROM definitely alot faster than some of the ROMs out there (won't mention names as I highly respect all these super chefs). A few things I found:

1/ Doesn't have the Comm Manager pop-up every time you change from landscape to portray.
2/ I haven't experience any lag to the touch screen. It was about 20%-25% faster than what I have experienced with all the ROMs in XDA.
3/ Love the new Camera app
4/ Sending 400K jpg took a bit longer than usual, in which i don't care.

Give it a try and you'll like the responsiveness of this ROM.

That are all I say after about 20 minutes of playing with this ROM.

Well, this rom has the same issues as the surprise build. The key is installing the Taiseer Disable xt9 cab, the standard IM cab and sleuth's sipchanger. I also have touchflo, pcm and the diamond keyboard working...but only one at a time. You can move between the default and whatever you set in IM and sip changer...but not any others. I did this before installing any other programs to trouble shoot this.

As stated, it pretty much is a simple, normal ROM.

Everything does work flawlessly, and you do notice a difference in speed.

Obviously, there are no tweaks and you have to do it yourself.

I've noticed that when receiving SMS it vibrates hardcore for like 3-5 seconds

everything is working for me. I can confirm that holding down a favourite person will come up to a white screen.

For the heck of it I have been running this with 32 MB PP and it's like on steriods. Average Free Memory with my apps running has been as low as 20 MB but there has been no performance degradation. What I have experienced is, in configuring WA3 and Wisbar Desktop, a lot of "Problem with ... " error messages keep popping up with the option to report to Microsft. Strange thing is I have finished configuring everything and it all seems to work. There may be some incompatabilities with the Wisbar SW but so far I have not been able to determine any negative impact as a result of the errors generated.

Leo, just want to say great job. The ROM looks promising. Will probably take a couple of tries to work out the kinks, but a great start. A few observations (may be repeating some other folks).

* You seems to be going for leaner and leaner with every ROM :) No add-ons?
* Miss the Comm Manager from your past ROMs
* The battery icon in the title bar is old style (i.e. no % info)
* Can't open contact details -- get blank screen
* The call history doesn't have the tabs on the bottom (missed, all, etc.)
* Switching portrait/landscape seems a bit slow
* Missing all the great config utils
* Can't get the weather through HTC Home (in all fairness, that happens to me on all cooked ROMs)
* Like the WorldCard Mobile, will need to play with that
* Diamond keyboard doesn't install properly. It installs, but the after the soft reset it just sits on the green WM6.1 welcome screen. Had to do a soft reset after 10 min or so, the SIP doesn't work.

So far that's it. I think this could become a basis for a great cooked ROM like your multimedia was, only faster :)

After installing Sleuth's SIPChange, it's supposedly shutting down on every soft reset. Strange thing is that everything seems to be working. Diamond is working great on keypad and keyboard, but QWERTY seems to be either slow or buggy.

Interesting note, Opera Mini 4.1 SCREAMS on the new Java. I have a feeling it has nothing to do with the ROM, but it seems that PointUI 1.51a is slower. Could just be due to some other things going on.

Overall, I'd agree with the 20-25% faster than any other ROM I've used. But at the same time, it's quite obvious that the video drivers are NOT in this one. That part is a bit disappointing.

Again, phenomenal work Leo. I'm looking forward to seeing a more custom version of this ROM in the coming days either from Leo, or another of the chef's.

I actually loaded all the apps before testing this and not sure if any of the installed program is causing this but when I try to open a contact, I don't see anything just the white blank screen. Could someone confirm that it is working fine on a fresh flash, or anyone have experienced this as well?

Thanks for sharing us the super fast rom. But there are some pending issues, as follows:

- The memory seems very low (less than 128MB, dont remember exactly) even there are not many pre-installed programs.
- Contact detail can not be shown (pls see the attached pic).
- Some softs can not be activated on this rom, even they were installed correctly (Ex: Call SMS Blocker, pls see the pic).

Some suggestions for the new V2 ;) :

- Long_keypress
- PHM Notepad
- PimBackup
- Schap's_Advanced_Configuration
- SIPChange
- Touch dual dialer
- HTC Action screen
- Calculator
- Com Manager for Button 6 (more useful than the others)

I ran into this problem before. Disable landscape ClearType (with KaiserTweak) and all should be well.

I covered this a few posts up...you have to disable xt9 to get any other keyboard except touchpal to work....including diamond. I put a link up to step by step directions in leo's last rom. This one is the same in that regard. The fixes are also hit and miss. They work for some people and not others. It is best if done right after a hard reset.

I had this issue the other day. Try another usb cable. If that does not work then the pins in the port on the phone need to be bent a little. I did that to mine and it connected. I bent the pins by putting the stylus in the usb hole instead of the reset hole:eek:

few more things....

when replying to text there is a large space of 4 or 5 blank lines. it happens both with the sip and hardware keyboard.

if you have more than one app open and you check a email or text, any of the previous application will steal the focus away from the email or text you click on. you have to minimize or close the app to see the email or text you clicked on.

random apps still crashing. get the message to send details to microsoft. never seen this before.

1.65 radio blows.

point UI acting crazy with this rom, loses ability to click or select things.

even though the H data sign is on and the check box is checked in hsdupa....kaiser tweak and advance config still says its disabled....weird. i did a speed test against the two and the speeds seem the same when i enabled in kaiser tweak. weird.

I really appreciate Leo's work, but on this case I dont really see any kind of improvement at all, at least in comparison with your previous work (i.e. V4 Favorite).

I even noticed some degree of lag specially while scrolling lists, installed programs and on the browser including video tearing on Opera Mini 4.1... Bummer!

Call me crazy but besides all the bugs, and a faster install time with apps, I really didn't see a performance gain. The screen switch between portrait and landscape modes seems to be the same speed with the only difference being that the whole screen flips at the same time as opposed to two or three different sections flipping at their own pace.

Radio seems poor for me. Bad data connection rates and ability.

I applaud you Leo for your hard work, speed and skill. I can't wait to see your future builds. Thanks! :)

I had the same situation.. I disabled clear type in SETTINGS>Screen and in kaiser tweak for both Landscape and PIE... did a soft reset and I had text in the address bar as well as in the pages themselves.

Wow, nothing like "gimme gimme gimme gimme" and within a few minutes go to "this sucks." This is/was the most anticipated ROM in a long, long time. How soon we all forget.


1. I don't believe this is a production rom for the Diamond. Isn't it very early pre-production? On the Diamond it probably has some of the same issues.

2. This is the 1st release of a ported ROM. It's a VERY good port and after a little time will be much smoother. Many theorized that the Diamond ROM would never work on the Kaiser at all. I think for a rushed port to get it out to the masses it is excellent.

3. Did any of you play with the PPC ports on the Star Trek? The early versions weren't stable but they continued to improve. Releasing it in an instable state allowed everyone to find all the bugs and offer fixes. Time to a stable release is much shorter this way.

now that ive played around with it a little more, i can say the touch screen bug is still there but not as bad. for example in coreplayer when i watch a movie, it no longer turns into a jpeg image, but continues to play at a speed thats not half bad.

I liked your Media Rom (#3 of 4) which are now discontnued but had a few bugs.
Sticked to one other , though I seem to be attracted to this release. Hoping as other that it is stable , and aware that NO 3D improvement can be expected.
So, this rather vanilla version is looking good at first sight and proceeded as we all should do (and some of you did NOT) by hard reset etc.

What I notice so far is indeed an improvement on screen response , as long as no other applications are installed.

Testing now: MS VC 1.6 - SPB mob 1.2 - Corepl 1.2.2 , Garmin Xt mobile and some other favorite softs - + tweaks like HHC 1.0 Advanced config etc.
Will get back to you (all) when you awake later on :-)

EDIT; I got a first freeze when wanting to change the ringtone. Device needed soft reset. to look at further on.

Better luck with 2nd flashing. Installing all my other apps using Sashimi RAW now. Hopefully after all the apps are in, still no problem with Exchange syncing.

I've spend last two days cooking this rom from 0900am till about 00.00pm. I've flashed about 40 times for testing.

So sorry if you flashed this beauty ones and got disappointed.

I will continue this rom anyway, no mather what you say!

If you want to to see the contact details(this works for non sim contacts)First tap contacts and choose a contact and enter it(should be blank with summary and notes tabs at the bottom), then tap the notes tab(edit button will show up on the bar), hit edit button, then hit details and you can see the details...it's a pain to do every time you want to see the details but what can you do.

I agree totally with everything P1Tater said. The chef doesn't have to do a damn thing for you all. If you don't like it install CABs. If CABs won't work get your bum into the kitchen, and you change the .dlls and SYS folder to have everything you want working to work.

The fact that Leo can release a ROM that is so stable and one that was made for another Device work on our device, Is absolutely amazing.

I swear on everything that is holy, if your endless requests cause Leo to stop cooking, I will never forgive you guys. Don't burn out such a great chef with your endless "I don't want this" or "I want this" requests.

That being said I totally support "suggestions" but don't get all bitter if he doesn't take it.

Address book pro works fine and I can see all of my contact information with it. The only problem I am having is that cleartype keeps turning on even though I turn it off in settings and in schaps advanced config. Every time I flip to landscape it turns itself on. Will try kaisertweak tomorrow and then direct registry editing if necessary. Thanks for the great ROM leo! Running fast and smooth here so far.

kerel, it's only 7.20 AM in A'dam , so do not get pissed by a few which critcize ALL rom's. For sure most understand the amazing achievment like Tater refers to:-) 2 words GOOD JOB!

I found 1 bug only untill now. indeed, as mentionned by a few, contact screens are blank when clicking on them, but the are inside as it is possible to include them in the Fav's.
Also in SPB, the name and number appears, but when clicking on a contact, it goes back to a white screen. Did another soft/hard reboot, but no luck yet.

Looking forward to a Full polished diamond with Multimedia incorporated.

SPB 2.1 works faster than on any other ROM I tried, so we are heading the good direction with this first release!
Tilting, unfortunatly has a negative response time when adding other soft. I presume that SPB is the guilty one
(did anyone know in fact that there is a hardware accelaration build-in in SPB (but do NOT use it is it leads to a hard reset hehe)

Better luck with 2nd flashing. Installing all my other apps using Sashimi RAW now. Hopefully after all the apps are in, still no problem with Exchange syncing.

Just want to update that after all my apps went in, I again faced problem with Exchange sync. So likely there is some incompatibility with some of my apps with the port. No worries, will just stay with the basic apps for now and wait for the version 2.

NO, it's a standard HTC ROM, with the looks and applications that come with a standard Windows Mobile 6.1 ROM. Just replaced some files with the ones coming from HTC diamond, to try to get more graphics speed.
This brokes the display of some things, like contacts and text on landscape. The same happens to the new official HTC ROM, more graphics speed but it does not work correctly on landscape and some programs fail on opening. (programs that work OK on previous WM 6.1 ROMs)

My two cents :

First: Nobody forces anybody to test and play with ROMs, if your current ROM is good and productive why you flash a new one without a real need?

Second: a plus 500 Euro device should mostly have a productive reason to buy, so keep a stable and productive ROM on it , not run for the last and gratest version.

Third: If you use your TYTN II just a gadget and want to have all the hot and latest stuff ... bugs and problems are normal, do not complain. This is the known price to be an early adaptor.

Forth: Most of the problems can be solved without bother the master cook , just with some knowledge what to install and where are the cabs.

So I suggest .. instead of complaining or defending the cook , why we do not start a serious post with problem and solution = cab in one list for the minor problems and give the cook some air & time to come up with the next version ?

Here is a start:

Advanced Configuration missing = install Schaps cab version , cab is ...
Action Screen missing = install HTC action screen , cab is .....
Com Manager missing = install .....

etc etc

Is there a consideration of a hyper version of this ROM in the near future? It looks to me this ROM and the Tytn II ( kaiser ) series has reached its climactic software upgrade... I can not think of anything else that can top this ROM without infringing on some device side functions. If someone can mod this ROM to a hyper version, then I think we reached the optimum.

it give message:

There's a connectivity problem. make sure you're in an area with good reception and try again.

some how i have this problem with several others roms(i have an original htc tytnII)on the other hand a friend of mine with the tytnII form tmobile i think its mda or something like that does not experience the problem :S. while we both use the same roms

As said before there are mostly minor problems that can be fixed with installing additinal cabs.

But two problems can't be solved that way :

- from time to time a error message from MS remote desktop pops up to send the error to MS .. never had that before , not even using MS remote desktopp

- Voice speed dial is installed instead of MS voice command... that is really bad . I would prefer to have better none of them installed and make the choice myself .. or stick with MS VC as in the previous ROM.

Now the disable of Voice speed dial is a potential problem for MS VC users

I only just flashed your previous ROM (L26_3.53.502.0_WM6.1_PRO_V1) yesterday and think its FAB so far.

I have no reason to flash again (to Diamond Rom) really, but obviously i will as its flipping brilliant changing the OS on your phone! thats why i cant have a nokia or a samsung say, no customisations is rubbish.

To all those negative comments made...... this guy works flipping hard to create something for us ALL free of charge, its not a business and he makes no money from it so you have no right being so damn rude all the time.....

Enjoy his work otherwise do your own cooking.

I've tried many many roms. This one is really nice, even if we have some issues.

The ebst Rom I had so far was Shogun's Death ROM. Also had some issues.

The most annoying is the lags and screen freeze. But this is the case in ALL the latest ROMS I've tested.

Could this be due to the latest radios ? I mean I had all the 1.65 and had some freezes, not with the NIKI one.

You keep making these beautiful, fast, and stable roms. I personally think your multimedia rom is the best. You're the first to port/merge the diamond rom with a Kaiser, and still committed to polishing it. I noticed the initial reaction/(pre-deleted) posts from many excited people, and now it does seem that some people are somewhat negative about something they didn't (or couldn't) do themselves. That blows. I greatly admire your work. But never-the-less, it's going to be difficult for you to make me leave your Multimedia (V4) rom. I plan to donate later today just (1) because of your efforts, (2) I'd like to see you countiue cooking (2), and (3) because I know most likely this rom will make me leave the Multimedia one :).

After running this run for a bit,my assumptions were correct, this rom was put out raw just to get it out let everyone test the water. Everyone is looking forward to v2, but as for apps, if its not in there, just look it up and install it yourself, a great place to start would be Taters and Alltheways downloads (check their sigs) as for bugs, put them up here to help Leo polish up v2 that much more.

For instance, For some reason with the setting to vibrate and ring, i was having problems as device would just vibrate and then at the last second start to ring before it went to voicemail (using the default tones for now since they're actually likeable) I will try to see if the problem persists and report back if it does.

If it doesn't work go too:

Start\Settings\Connections\Connections\Manage existing connections\Proxy Settings

and disable 'This network uses a proxy server to connect to the Internet'

No! For the 100th time, this ROM looks like a normal HTC ROM. It does NOT have the 3d interface that the Diamond uses.

First i just want to clarify...

The only thing "Diamond" about this ROM is the radio and some ringtones....is that correct?

Also, on the whole moderate/deletion issue. While i appreciate the hard work the moderators put in, and I personally could do without alot of the worthless posts, I don't feel that moderators should be deleting modifying threads that comply with forum rules. If they are belligerent or profane, then ok.

But removing threads where people are excited? or asking for a download link? What's next? Removing threads of thanks or congratulations? Asking for other things that the moderator deems not necessary?

Again, I agree it is clutter, but we are used to wading through the clutter. And although I know this is a moderated forum we should expect a mostly laissez-faire attitude (with the above exceptions).

So, while I appreciate everything you have done for us Kypher, and with all due respect, I think you are overstepping your bounds. If you strongly disagree I would talk it over with the site admins and update forum rules accordingly. If there is a forum rule that already prohibits this (other than an all inclusive "moderator discretion" then please point me to it).

The ROM seems to be very quick and stable thus far. Will let you know after I test drive it for a couple of days. You're the first to port/merge the diamond rom with a Kaiser, and still committed to polishing it. I noticed the initial reaction/(pre-deleted) posts from many excited people, and now it does seem that some people are somewhat negative about something they didn't (or couldn't) do themselves. That blows. I greatly admire your work. But never-the-less, it's going to be difficult for you to make me leave your Multimedia (V4) rom. I plan to donate later today just (1) because of your efforts, (2) I'd like to see you countiue cooking (2), and (3) because I know most likely this rom will make me leave the Multimedia one :).

no letters show up in landscape mode in pie.

it shows fine on the address bar but not within any webpages.


for example, google.com in the search box

how can we fix that?
