This is most likely the first beta(unless the moon turns blue and this beta is flawless) of the new AP 5.0 rom

its late at night and i will probably get a more detailed version of this and a vanilla uploaded tommorow but here is the run down:

most issues from 4.0 fixed hopefully.
new config app is in the works but didn't make it for this beta.
pretty much everything has been updated to latest and includes all working apps from the diamond rom.
album should now be reliable. haven't seen any problems with it coming up yet*knock on wood*
no manila sip since that changed the whole dialog stuff when composing emails and such. probably will end up as a cab in final with option to turn on and off the manila suggestions that replace the microsoft ones.

please test app compatibility. also i tried to fix the realvga issues but it seems impossible without cmonex or creator of realvga.

one issue i would like to challenge someone to fix: a dialog should come up when connecting usb that should ask if u want to connect to activesync or mass storage mode. the exe for that dialog works(htcusbtopcdialog.exe or something like that in windows folder) but the dialog doesn't show up. browny points for the one who figures this out.

dont worry there will be one. it was decided it was no good to do it for AP4 now, but AP5 WILL have one from day one. you have my guarantee for that

just a note, i have spl 3.5 on my x7501 and have flashed 4 different variations of cooked roms now, including AP 3.0 and a few others, and all from microsd... the only one i have found that WILL NOT flash from microsd is AP 4.0, as i cannot find a .nbh file after extracting the .exe (but it may be possible)...

So far so good. AP5 Seems to be faster than AP4. Installing softwares now. I like the new volume control. Will keep posted.

Looks very sleek and is definitely a lot quicker than AP4!
I like the new comm manager, but after switching to 128dpi it became unresponsive...
Tapping on any of its icons (WiFi, bluetooth etc.) simply makes it disappear...

Nope that doesn't work here with either ap4 Irus' 3.5spl rom or ap5.

In the end I installed at work, as I found a cable in with one of the cameras. :D

seems much faster that ap4. not felt need to start tweaking too much yet..
Initial thougts, startmenu is set too big for initial load in 192dpi, might be best to turn it off set it smaller for initial run.

new htc home still prevents igo8 from starting. turn it off reboot and works fine.
Replaced htc home with UL and rltoday combo for speed and reliability.

new task manager and popup screen for system state is nice, when you press the new funky icons at the top. turned off task manager and use WKtask though instead as more functional.

Not checked yet what the buffer setting for the SD card is, on AP4 I set it to 256 as larger files loaded faster. But seems good so far.

Can write large files to MD without it corrupting, so maybe it was something in AP4 that was causing it.
Nice big buttons to press to answer calls!

Overall vast improvement.

FWIW i'm sticking with 192dpi for the time being as I like S2P and S2U2 which I'm about to install.

update, as typing had problem #1.
screen locked on incoming call, this was 3rd call I've had but 1st problem. had total commander open and flexmail (but not syncing). Not certain what caused it, can turn off screen with power button so device not hard locked, but reset with pinhole and it's working again.
Tested incoming call after reset with no issues, if I get it again I'll see if I can work out why.

I have installed the AP5 beta this morning and it is working great. So far i have found only one change needed. But that is not an issue with using this rom. The first screen after reset is shows "Smart mobility, Featuring AP4" and it should say AP5.
Bluetooth, Wifi, and other software problems which we had in the AP4 are gone . It is a very good work by AP team. Thanks to all.

Before you release the AP5 can you please update the WKTask to version 1.173c which is the latest.

I have the same problem with vueflo, and the same problem concerning htc home and igo8 (working fine with Kaiser - Dutty's rom).

Vueflo not working (sorry to repeat but hey) plus the rom seemed to spaz out a few hours ago. Really slow loading of everything with no programs initially open. A reset cured it all and it ain't happend since.
Audio player workes much better for me than previous roms i.e. loading song lists quicker and no st st.. st... stuttering on playback!
Realvga is better too. (Have you integrated it any differently?) I'm at super small but photos, icons, text and program buttons are all nice and viewable.
Still cannot get Skype going though I know that is a 6.1 problem and also Fring installs great but cannot connect to the server via any means. (again a 6.1 problem me thinks)
If any Voip software works this would cure a big headache for me as I need to get Skypeout up and running again for work.
As betas go this is a stunner. Rom installed without a hitch in about 6mins.

1) slow in scrolling... I've seen you increased cache and some other system "buffers". I've disabled from athena config app. FTOUCH (it wasn't working) and scrolling works fine now

2)GREAT Vueflo. I've enabled it in ATHENA CONFIG in settings... album rotate pictures rotating device, mute a call just turning the device face down.... :) DIAMOND Style

3) Tapping con top bar I have a black page opened with controls... if I tap on volume I have connections, on battery I have volume... something is scrambled

4) Beautiful new system icons, FULLY VGA.

I am using 128 DPI and memmais systms tweaks for extreme speed

AP5 Beta is perfect upgarde. I recommend everone to try it. I have just minor obseravtions:

1. This beta still indicates the AP4 rather than AP5
2. There is no ExtenRom
3. the Expansion Slot is not in use
4. AP5 does not supoort multi languages like the Arabic; HTC Advantage Stars Suite 1.0 (Arabization) is incompatible with AP5 Beta
5. QuickGPS is not updating thru ActiveSync/ GPRS/ WIFI with Error "Download: Connection Failed. Please try Again Later"
6. Direct Youtube is not functioning on Mobile Explorer and Oprera Browser


The most important thing, it shows increase in memory (110.81 MB).

diamond parts are in rom. the new adobe reader 2.5, the new versions of streaming media, voice recorder, etc.. are from diamong. when u press the top bar and that whole black app with your icons from top shows up its from the diamond rom. same thing with the app for adjusting volume. manila dialer is from diamond.

everything from diamond is there with the exception of the youtube app(fixing issues with video not showing and sound not always working), manila today plugin aka touchflo 3d (will probably never work do to different graphic chipset being on diamond), and labyrinth game(cant get to work period but its that game where u move a ball through a maze using the g sensor).

I do not understand why people are complaining about SPL 3.5.
You can install whatever rom you want, really see Irus work with the standard roms. SPL 3.5 is supposed to be better as memory repartion give us more space and memory? Or am I getting this all wrong.

status on vanilla: have it done but for some reason i can't compile it. i dont know if its because it's late and i am tired, it i messed up somewhere, or its related to me still taking antibiotics but looks like tommorow :( really sad because i really wanted to release it today. i will keep working though a few more min. its almost midnight though. maybe i can quickly solve the 2 issues atleast.

Pawel, should there be a need to off load something in order to fit into the old spl, may I suggest that we let go of the programs in the start/menu/program/system folder? We can also drop realVGA, all the software keyboards, and wktask. We can then load these by ourselves. Keep all the cool Diamond stuff in there though. I like the HTC touchflo, for example, and without having it in the ROM, there is no other way of having it by our own customization, at least for the moment.

I'm really excited and looking forward to your Vanilla on SPL 1.2.

Vueflo orientation works as supposed in DIAMOND!
No orientation as default, but it silence the call turning face down, and works in album!

Igo8 works in 96/128/196 dpi.(disable homescreen and soft reboot)

Same problem withGPs update.

Opera is the older version , was looking forward to the Youtube capability and supposed better graphics of newer version.

Biggest problem is I can't access or use the ringtones despite them being playable in WMP.
Any ideas? tried putting them in My documents/ringtones and windows folder with no luck.8**problem resolved ?soft reset?

Synced via buetooth in WMDC and used wireless network without trouble.(attention Sergiopi)

This problem with the messages has to do with WM 6.1 threaded sms. After you restore the device reformats the messages and that takes half an hour (on my device.)
Solution is to disable the threaded sms before restoring your messages.

I seem to have the contacts bug, if i click on a name via the phone the page comes up blank.
I will hard boot to see if it was caused by the programs I have installed.

I seem to have the contacts bug, if i click on a name via the phone the page comes up blank.
I will hard boot to see if it was caused by the programs I have installed.

OK, after hard booting the device it seems that the contact detail page [and phone contact page] are blank at 128dpi and 96dpi.

If I revert back to 196dpi then they work again.

can some one else test this please in case it is just my device....

Same problem here. Contact page only showing at 196dpi. Also having trouble using Tmobile proxy EDGE connection.

Vueflo orientation works as supposed in DIAMOND!
No orientation as default, but it silence the call turning face down, and works in album!

me and cmonex mananged to get vueflo orientation to change orientation and to work in album like the diamond's sensor works and also when u flip it over it will silent the ringer.

little tech info how we did it: we created a new service in the registry for the athena x7510 dll with a dll that has a different filename than the original. we then renamed the athena service dll to something other than the diamond service dll. sounds confusing but what we did is made both the athena and diamond g sensor service dlls run side by side.

now i recommend those who installed the previous cab to uninstall so the diamond service dll is used again. then install this new cab and u will have diamond functions and athena orientation changing. enjoy :)

Until now I have found the following findings:

1. QuickGPS -> Already mentioned before
2. I have smometimes trouble connecting to the 3G network. This never happened in AP4. The icon at the top shows it is trying to connect. This may take serveral tries. Sometimes I have to disconnect en reconnect the phone function.
3. The 3g icon when connected shows the normal network strength indicator when not connected.
4. On my ameo the photo album freezes my phone. On my microdrive I have a collection of a hundred pictures.
5. The big menu doesnot disappear totally when collapsing the menu. Part of te screen at the right site doesnot restore the windows.

yes, I am aware of that feature, and still does not change the fact the phone does not produce any sound during incoming calls with the skin enable.

Also I have discovered additional issues (beside the blank contact on at realvga dpi (128, etc...)), I also discovered if you hit one of the numbers on the call log history, it does not take you to contact where you can select which phone number to dial. I use the feature all of the time, you can hit icon to dial the # or hit the number next to the icon to get list of time you call that number and also to select different # from the contact. All of this could be related to the blank contact issue.

Do you have the manilla or phone skin enabled? if so, disabled it and the ringtone will work on the phone with all the other diamond features still available.

What brand notebook are you using when you did the test?

I'm able to send and receive file by bluetooth to other phones, and to the notebook. It's only the receiving from notebook via bluetooth that I have this OBEX something error message. I tried the stock ROM, PK 3, and the irus ROM, all having the same problems when sending file from notebook to Athena.

Same here. I have a MacBook, but just to be sure that its not a Mac things I tried with my friends laptop too. Still a no go. It used to work perfectly fine with AP 3.0 Black Dual.

I have installed the AP5 beta this morning and it is working great. So far i have found only one change needed. But that is not an issue with using this rom. The first screen after reset is shows "Smart mobility, Featuring AP4" and it should say AP5.
Bluetooth, Wifi, and other software problems which we had in the AP4 are gone . It is a very good work by AP team. Thanks to all.

Before you release the AP5 can you please update the WKTask to version 1.173c which is the latest.

Yes you right about the AP5...nice job...but why do you don't use the real VGA ?
In real VGA (96dpi) you can have the HTC home vga and spb weather in the same screen without scrolling bar !

I was not sure what is spl 3.5, so I carry on upgrading it and I got stucked in the RED, GREEN, BLUE screen. I have no choice but to try to upgrade to the "full" version of Windows Mobile 6.1 for spl 1.2 and 3.5.

The upgrade was successful. At first, my athena can boot up normally, but after undertaken the screen align process, my athena then run the following commands,

sdautorun.exe
sdconfig.txt
auto reset

it then keeps on running auto configuration and the above commands and rebooting again and again. I can't stop the athena from rebooting. However, I can have access to the microdrive of the athena though microsoft activeSync during the screen align process.

So what has basically gone wrong with my athena and how do I fix it. PLS help!!! I have no idea on how to fix it. Thank you.

- no possible to update the position with quickgps

Go in to the sat configuration for either Google Maps or Tom Tom and manually set it to com 4, 4800 baud and it should be fine (I have tested this in gog mps and used it on AP4 with no issues).

koh84, if you have not upgraded to the 3.50 spl you can't run AP4/5 it is required, you may be able to revert to AP3 if you are still on SPL1.xx (the SPL upgrade is required because it re-partitions the rom space to allow for the larger AP4/5 roms).

if your device keeps rebooting you did not brick your device you just installed a rom with the wrong spl version. if you have cid unlocked your device and you have not upgraded to ap4 then you are still on 1.2 so at this point you either need to install ap3 dual or wm6.1 3 diff sizes or if you think you would like ap4 or ap5 better then you first have to install ap4, as i don't think the apteam has come out with a stand alone spl 3.5 upgrade, then you can install ap5 beta, just to let you know pawel said he is coming out with ap5 spl 1.2 in either case good luck and don't be afraid to ask questions ;)

Dangit, I have an application that allows me to make int'l calls through my phone, through my VoIP provider. This program worked 100% just fine with AP4 and even the crappy irus ROM (no offense irus, but the base rom sucks). Something had to have changed for it not to work anymore. The program is called MobileTalk from http://mobiletalk.packet8.net/. I need this application to work as my girlfriend is in Japan right now, and we need to talk.

When manilla is disabled the incoming ringtone works but it does not work when it is enabled. Also the ringtone for the incoming call revert back to the default after the first incoming call instead of keeping your custom one.

Have you tried reverting to the 'hardware only' GPS settings?

Open the GPS Control Panel and set Program Port and Hardware Port to 'None'; then untick 'Allow Windows to manage GPS' ; save the changes, force a shutdown/restart with the power button, and open TomTom (if you have it) or GoogleMaps. In TTN, set the GPS to 'Other NMEA Receiver', on COM5 at 38400 Baud. Now go outside and see if it picks up any signal (remember it can take up to 15 minutes for cold start).

If that works, then the problem is with the WM6 GPSID; if it doesn't work, then there is a ROM/Radio problem.

Interested to see how you get on, as I want to UG to AP5, but need SatNav on holiday next week :)

cold start takes about 25 mins.

other discovery,
1. sometime menu icon display disappear
2. contact details no show, normalized using pocket informat
3. occasional hang at Windows mobile splash screen
4. GPS baud rate setting went back to default (4800)

so far AP5 beta works pretty well. Great job, thanks AP team.

I do not have the ringtone problem you mentioned.. Perheps I used an mp3 ringtone. I my case when the dialer is active and I mute the sound by turning my device up side down, I connot restore the sound. When I install the vuevlo patch and disable diamond vuevlo muting stops working and I do not have any ringtone problems anymore.

Strange is the fact that all my other sound which are wav or wma files do not allways work. Most of the time the default sound is played.

Concerning the GPS it is nessecary that QuickGPS updates the GPS data at least ones. Without updating getting a fix takes minutes and after updating less than a minute. . I tried to use TomTom with AP5 without the QuickGPS data. It needed almost 15 minutes to get an initial fix ccmparing to AP4 with QuickGPS only 50 seconds.

Could someone post the AP4 QuickGPS cab so we can get rid of the new one? I will try to extract it from the irus wm6.1 rom version..

using the registry settings from earlier roms(see page 7 of this thread) I can get to 100% then fail, the new reg entries for quickgps are for different file than the old roms.

I tried to get it working by making a cab and installing the QuickGPS version of irus his wm6.1 rom. I cannot get it started because it keeps saying the executable is not signed. It looks like the new QuickGPS which is also on the Kaiser is different from the old one. tweaking the registry doesnot help. I think only the old one will work on te athena.

This is most likely the first beta(unless the moon turns blue and this beta is flawless) of the new AP 5.0 rom

its late at night and i will probably get a more detailed version of this and a vanilla uploaded tommorow but here is the run down:

most issues from 4.0 fixed hopefully.
new config app is in the works but didn't make it for this beta.
pretty much everything has been updated to latest and includes all working apps from the diamond rom.
album should now be reliable. haven't seen any problems with it coming up yet*knock on wood*
no manila sip since that changed the whole dialog stuff when composing emails and such. probably will end up as a cab in final with option to turn on and off the manila suggestions that replace the microsoft ones.

one issue i would like to challenge someone to fix: a dialog should come up when connecting usb that should ask if u want to connect to activesync or mass storage mode. the exe for that dialog works(htcusbtopcdialog.exe or something like that in windows folder) but the dialog doesn't show up. browny points for the one who figures this out.

Great beta Pawel, glad to see some ap4 isues being addressed. The diamod stuff is good. I played with th leaked version of manilla, which is on the kaiser forums. It runs like a slide show on non accelerated devices. While it looks cool, I stil think SPB is a better comprimise.

Trying to turn winmo into the IPhone is always going to have issues due to differences in the touch screen and the underlying WinMo OS. What is the old saying about lipstick on a pig? Seriously, I love Win Mo, but it isnt for everybody, and fancy animation doesnt make my email any more interesting or my wife any prettier...

Just a suggestion for consideration.

May be this manila stuff should be removed, if it is that unuseable. There are so many other more elegant solutions available already, such as iLauncher/sbsh pocket weather/spb time/spb phone suite combination. If you use them in 192 dpi, it is extremely finger friendly. You won't need stylus.

However, the HTC touchflo should be kept. HTC touchflo is probably the single thing that I look forward to the most in terms of user interface improvement. I like the new address book too.

update on the gps front, using the default ap5 quickgps registry settings it failed at 77%, but there was a new file in /temp folder.
I copied the xtra.bin from temp to windows with no apparent benefit, then changed to the older reg ones and got to the 100% point in quickgps but still failed.

update on the gps front, using the default ap5 quickgps registry settings it failed at 77%, but there was a new file in /temp folder.
I copied the xtra.bin from temp to windows with no apparent benefit, then changed to the older reg ones and got to the 100% point in quickgps but still failed.

Even though I cannot get QuickGPS to work like everyone else, My Tom Tom still works fine. Cold start and it takes about 5 minutes, but then works fine. Even with QuickGPS working in previous roms, my athena was never much faster on cold start though.

That solution will survive a reboot and not hard reset. Also it will only last for a few days. I personally use the GPStest and it pretty much does the same thing as QuckGPS in a different way and better to me.

I like quickgps but i have been using google maps with gps manually set and other than it taking a few minutes to get a fix, i have had no issues. Not installed Tom Tom yet.

I still don't really understand the obsession with QGPS :)

At best it improves TTFF by a few seconds to a minute; at worst it corrupts the GPS memory chip (if it gets errouneous position data from the cell towers) and screws position totally.

Current Radio ROMs get a TTFF so much faster than the original ones; even back in the Artemis days, QGPS made only a marginal difference.

The best way of obtaining a fast fix is to keep the data up to date by running a sat nav program of some sort every 1-2 days, which means you effectively get a warm start each time, which is probably why running apps such as GPSTest appear to be beneficial.

With AP4/Radio 1.57, and running iGO8, I now get a full cold start in about 3-5 minutes running the hardware only (COM5) connection.

sorry to be honest i am being overwhelmed by all the new diamond builds. i have already moved today to the new 19588 and have fixed most of the bugs caused by switching to the new build. there will be a 1.2 spl based vanilla rom. next beta will for real at same time be vanilla.

for the manilla fanatics:
here is the new manilla running on my htc athena. it is made running using the libgles_cm.dll someone provided in the kaiser forums way back when the beta was leaked. the latest dlls from the latest build dont work at this time on the athena. we have a different graphics chipset. options are to find the athena's acceleration drivers and edit manilla to use those/create new ones for the athena/or modify the diamond ones to work on the athena. Also, youtube is shown in the video. no picture but sound works.

Just want to congratulate you on the beta version of the AP 5. I find this rom very stable. Wifi connection is good, bluetooth connectivity is excellent with my blueant v12 headset and is so much faster than the AP 4. I dont use gps since its not available in our country so no problems for me whatsoever. What I would like to request, only if it would be possible, is that if there is a way to make the spb mobile shell work properly in 96dpi in realvga. Anyway, again, my big congratulations for the fantastic work and more power!!!

Of course it is. It's available everywhere in the world, unless you live in Iraq or some other war zone where the US Government is blocking it. Otherwise you can use GPS anywhere-- it's satellite-based, so it will work anywhere you can see the sky!

This is my 2 cents on this Vanilla and 1.2spl availability. I personally would not release any of them until we actually have a stable ROM with little to no bugs (very close to final AP5). Essentially you will now need to support and troubleshoot 2-3 different ROMs and may not make since at this point of the game. You are going to find things that works in one and not the other. What's the since on doing this so early in the game.

To me it means you will be spending more time working on different versions of the ROM instead of concentrating on one and fixing the bugs. The diamond builds have introduced a few issues and I would like to see them fixed so we can really put the ROM to work and see how well it is holding up. Essentially when you fix an issue, you will need to check in 2-3 different places to ensure it was fixed. Unless this team as a lot of time to burn right now. Also, I know this is not the only project this team is working on.

I do agree the vanilla is needed but I am questioning the timing on when this should be made available.

I've been playing with the latest beta of throttle launcher which is a fairly decent interpretation of the manilla interface, but I can't get any of the music plugins working.

Pawel I think the one bug that needs fixing more than the others is the ringtone with manilla dialer.
I really the nice big buttons to press to answer a call but occassionally the ringtone doesn't work, and when you try to change it there's an error.

I did confirm broken bluetooth file transfer. I am also trying to configure out some weird stuff happening with my bluetooth headset (Jawbone). It seems as it is dropping the headset at times.

Anyone seeing weird headset issues with this build? It might be related with other apps installed.

I'm sure we're in agreement overall :) We all want the latest, but we want stable as well!

The point I was making, was that if the device is important for business, as a stable, fully functioning device, then the user would be better sticking with a stable build, even if it were older.

I have found AP4 more stable, and faster than AP3, which would never reliably connect to my PC. All aspects of AP4 work for me, apart from Album, which I don't use, so I'm holding off trying AP5. I too would prefer a vanilla AP5- not so much for memory usage, as even AP4 doesn't give me any issues., but hopefully to gain some extra speed.

And anyone wanting a good, fast browser should look at the new Netfront 3.5 Concept release. It really highlights the deficiencies in Opera 9.5. :)

We probably do agree in general. However, in my case I found ap4 quite unstable relative to ap3. It may be the applications I use. Yet there are aspects of ap4 and/or 6.1 that are very appealing to me. This is why I find myself in limbo...I don't want to go back to ap3 but I am unsatisfied with present stability issues and program incompatibilities. So we agree that stability is paramount, but because I am unhappy with my present stability issues I am eager to get any improvements on the trail to perfection.

On the NetFront 3.5 I also am likely to agree with you. I am very peased with it, however, I have not acquired expertise in opera 9.5 configuration (which seems to give many degrees of fine tuning) so I await enlightenment from the browser wiz's.

Hi Guys love AP5 Beta, Have no problems so far except my battery is really getting hammered - either surfing or using it as a bluetooth modem on 3g/HSDPA kills the battery in about 2 hrs. With AP 3 & 4 I used Radio 1.50 no problems but upgraded to Radio 1.57 with AP5 Beta. No 3rd party software installed on my X7500.

Overall very stable ROM but sometimes loses Bluetooth paring after soft reset.

I hit new account. fill in my email address and password (its a hotmail.co.uk account) then hit the next button and it launches Opera and tells me all about the benifits of using email on my phone.

Go back to Windows live and there is no new account added :(

I've been playing with the ringtone problem with the manilla dialer

can anyone else whos been losing their ringtone try changing the settings here

I've changed mine to my favourite ringtone and my documents/ringtones directory

Sorry I don't use bluetooth..

Occassionally there will be no ringtone on incoming calls, in sounds and notifications the ringtone will be blank, and when you then try to change the ringtone it will come up with an error.
I can't work out when it's triggering sometimes it will ring, sometimes it won't.
Doesn't seem to matter whether the device is awake and asleep when it happens.

With AP4 (standard X7501 ROM as well) when you were in a phone call and clicked on the volume icon at the top of the screen it provided an "in call" volume control. This was separate from the system volume and ring volume settings normally available when not in a call.

With AP5 this doesn't seem to be there. When in a call, and you click the volume icon, you just get the normal system and ring volume. As such, there is no way to louden or soften the volume of the call itself.

I'm trying out the new AP4 & AP5 rom...Both are great I might say...Excellent to the AP Team on a great job...Here is my finding so far:

1. My HTC x7500 using AP4 locks up alot but with AP5 none so far...Also notice that AP5 is much faster then AP4...

2. Video Call didn't work on either ROM (AP4 & AP5)...Anyone know how to fix this issue?? I need help...

The last issue I found on AP5 is that the Audio Manager doesn't work...Work okay with AP4 but when I updated to AP5...The Audio Manager comes up but when it is searching it stop to function (disapeared)...I also try to install HTC Audio Manager.cab file, still didn't work...I need help here also...

Downloaded the cab, copied to device. Ran cab from device. Installation starts, select to install to Device. Installation fails with this message:

"Installation was unsuccessful. The program or setting cannot be installed because it does not have sufficient system permissions."

So, I would say that it does not work on AP5 unless I'm missing something...

Long time lurker here who joined XDA shortly after getting my Cingular 8125.

I now have X7501 since last July on ATT's network and have been holding off doing any ROM upgrades as I need this phone to be stable\reliable.

Now that AP5 is in the works I am seriously contemplating doing the upgrade once "The Team" releases it (not beta).

I have already run the SPL1.20 3 step procedure and have updated to radio 1.57 and I am curious to know if the AP5 ROM is anywhere near ready or will it be another month or more?

Not trying to be pushy but from all that I have read thus far about the various ROMs The Team has cooked up so far, it seems clear that AP5 for SPL 1.2 (hopefully) as well as SPL 3.5 will be something truly wonderful to upgrade to. I know that there are plenty of others who are also holding their breath in anticipation as well.

Another question, if I may, will AP5 include the customization cabs that automatically configure things for ATTs network, much like the X7501 WM6 HTC ROM does now when you first boot up?

Also, I take it the X7501 does not have the video drivers\chipset to do TouchFlo 3D?

some minor errors.

Connection Setup is not working well for the French network Orange. I do not know why.

Problem with windows media player: when I play a song, it displays that this song is no longer in this path.

Yesterday I had to restart my device because the screen was shifting between Today screen and program every seconds.

Got the well known dialler issue.

But, this rom is beautiful. The rotation of the screen works quite well, It is a pleasure.

this can be disabled two ways, thru the "Athena Config App" in settings\system, or you can toggle on the fly by mapping a button to vo.exe in the windows directory. push once to toggle on, push again to toggle off.

I have never had problems with acquiring satellites, and I have never used quick GPS on any of my devices....it still finds sats quickly using TomTom 5,6,or 7. I usually remove it as it is an irritation with the repeat "notification" that it needs to update. It also works fine without it on Google maps too .....

Suggest you hard reset immediately after flashing or reflash again.

Streaming Media only output audio no video viewing youtube, via wireless tested with both browser.
Using ActiveSync, both browser can surf, Streaming Media error in network.
CorePlayer and TCPMP both had no issue.

The button can't be faulty as it lets me into the boot loader. All was fine until I supercid(ed)/unlocked, spl(ed) to olipro 3.5 and ap(ed).

the only other issue is with media player throwing up an unknown error when i try to play via the library on the micro drive (happy to play from ram though). If i navigate to the file via file explorer then it works (on a track by track basis). Am going to delete the music from the micro drive to see if that helps

If I have those problems like yours, I suggest you flash back to AP3 (SPL3.5) just to make sure all is working than flash AP5 again.

I am assuming all were working when you are using AP3 before.

Please go to this thread for AP3 (SPL3.5) Rom. Check your SPL version before next flashing.

Also ensure you are using Windows XP with all protection disable.
Make sure SIM and memory card is removed from device.

Just out of interest have you tried reassigning the button away from and back to the camera again, I had a similar problem using my Uni on the early 6.1 Roms. All i did was assigned the camera button to something else then back to the camera, then all worked well. I'm not saying it will on this one but its worth a try?

Thanks for the head's up. Just tried it and it didn't work. If i switch the opera and camera butoons then neither works... the camera button obviously works as I can enter the boot loader.

SPL 3.5 and 1.2. Only full version though, no lite, ultra-lite, vanilla, or whatever else you want to call it. Everyone can have it; you just don't get to be picky. :)

With AP4 (standard X7501 ROM as well) when you were in a phone call and clicked on the volume icon at the top of the screen it provided an "in call" volume control. This was separate from the system volume and ring volume settings normally available when not in a call.

With AP5 this doesn't seem to be there. When in a call, and you click the volume icon, you just get the normal system and ring volume. As such, there is no way to louden or soften the volume of the call itself.

hi, I had a similar problem problem playing music from the micro drive- i could play the files via file explorer but not directly through media player. In the end I had to reformat the micro drive. Although this worked I don't understand why as disk check had found no problems and there were no issues with audio manager.

2. For phone signal, so far I only see the "3G" and the "E" icon. When I change the band to GSM, the icon show the 2 arrow (like you doing a sync) with a "x" instead of a "G" icon. Is this suppose to be the way or am I missing something?

As for 3rd part s/w, so far I have only encounter prob with the following.

Sometimes it seemed to me that IGO8 don't like touchflo and it definitely don't like the Manila dialer.

I need help. Now that the spb backup does work after unchecking the option of "Close Programs before Backup".

No ring when incoming call is still unsolved. On top of that, I experience that caller is hearing ringing when they call me. But my phone is not showing that there's incoming call. The worst is that it doesn't even show there's a missed call. This happen pretty often which resulted everyone is complaining about me not answering phone call....

I hope by disabling the manila dialer thing will help to resolve this. But how do I disable it? I m very desperate now... Have done a lot of hard reset and soft reset. Need help urgently please.

I've disabled the Manila dialer via RealVGA. There you have the option "Disable phoneskin". After ticking this option and a reset of your device, the Manila dialer is disabled.

Phone to access the ringtones easily it should be in the root of the drive regardless Device memory or Storage card or Microdrive. Somebody correct me if I am wrong "If you place the ringtones other than root of the drives it will takes more time to access the ringtones". I read this some other forum a little while ago.

I beleive it takes 2 more seconds to play the ringtone( But it wil play from "\My Device\My Documents\My Ringtones" Or "\storagecard\my documents\my ringtones" . May be i am wrong. Try the root of the drives.

I think I've sorted the ringtone problem with the manilla dialer, Ie when the phone stops ringing and you bcant change the tone from default.
its been 5 days now and I haven't missed a call. but, and its a bigggg but, im not certain what I changed. I was playng around with the registry and the most likely candidate is hkcu/controlpanel/ but not sure what exactly, I did see a value the looked wrong.

if you're havbing the ringer issue then it might be worth having a dig through that part of the registry.

im off for a couple of weeks so not going to have a chance to hard reset to work it out.

Was just having a browse and saw this. I had the same problem with AP4.0. I too went through a couple of hard resets and found the only way to get SPB Pocket Plus 4.0.2 to work without making the device hang/very slow was to install it last. By that I mean that if I wanted to install it I would have to install anything else that messes at the same level as Pocket Plus FIRST, and the last thing to install would be Pocket Plus. Done that and now everything plays nicely with each other.

I too have no ring tone alerts when a call comes in.

Btw the noise a caller hears when they ring you is independant of your phone. I believe that their phone generates the ring tone or engaged tone not the network or your phone.

Ive had no problems using WM player or audio manager. Been using both all day and both restart after a call, so not sure what is different on mine.

Ok I was wrong. WM player and any other player doesn't play films apart from the first couple of seconds. seems ok with music though

I did have a problem with no ring tone, but after assigning one all works OK.

Quick GPS updates 100% then says connection failed, So not sure if it has updated or not. However GPS seems the lock on faster than before so who knows?

Blue-tooth works perfect!:D I have a style I and forever having it said out of range, its not said it once this rom.

I'm not sure on this next "thing" but I seem to have to press slightly longer/harder to get a screen reaction than I did on a stock ROM. Anyone else found this??

SMS/MMS work as they should, so happy there.

I did see something about the G/3G/H icons not working but all show OK on mine. For them that don't know, the H symbol will only work while data is transferring, then it goes back to 3G, and of course you dont get 3G everywhere! I wiil say that the icons do look a bit different when there is NO data connection. There is no reference to what service is available berfore you connect to it. If you tap on the signal icon you will see what signal type you have in system status.

In the past I took my athena apart, and while apart I fitted a vibrating motor in it. Its never done a thing despite my best efforts, Until now. On the system volume screen it says "vibrate" stick it on that and it starts for a short moment!! as you get on a normal phone when going into vibrate mode. I know there is a reg setting to set the vibrate to on, it never worked in the past, maybe it will now? watch this space. I used a motor from an old XDA II that went bust, it fits spot on. from the brief moment it did run, I dont think it would make a risk to the microdrive.

Will let you know if I get vibrating alert working Ok

For the first time, my gps is working, ap5 beta, some of the similar
problems as the others like quick gps but not needed, divx vid playback
is great, gps is great, battery consumption is a little higher. will continue testing.

What are you doing to get "great" divx playback? Since upgrading my x7501 from the factory rom to AP4 and now AP5, things feel sluggish and the divx off the microdrive is unusable, it's like the video drivers are missing or something. I'm using tcmcp .72rc1 (I think, the one that was released to watch youtube on).

Any help anyone can give will be much appreciated - video is something I used to use OFTEN.

Found it was a PEBKAC issue, setting to direct draw instead of the ATI settings fixed it to smooth and wonderful playback.

The audio tab in HTC Home.

I use the standard résolution (192 DPI) because I like things to be big enough to be used easily with my fingers.

Fonts are too big in the audio tab and the song's title is unreadable : lines are horizontally cut so there is no entire letter, everything is cut...
