I'm italian and my device is htc touch2.Today I installed remote tracker I changed sim to verify it without result so I re-inserted the allowed sim:
I started rtconfig, I entered my password (i'm sure about it because I always use it in all application) but remote tracker tells me "password doesn't match". So I sent an sms rt#"secret,[my secret answer]" (I'm sure about it because it's my father's name) but the replay is "password doesn't match. bat :61-80%".
what can I do? I don't want to hard reset my device.
thank you
same here - I set my password and secret answer, but now I cannot access the the config anymore (wrong password) and when sending the secret answer from another phone it also says wrong password!!!
I am terribly angry - just spend 2 days setting up my Samsung Omnia from scratch and now I installed that shit which doesn't work!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
I STRONGLY ADVISE EVERYBODY NOT TO INSTALL THAT SOFTWARE - ON A LOT OF DEVICES IT DOES NOT SEEM TO WORK AND YOU WILL HAVE TO HARD RESET YOUR PHONE!!!

Delete HKLM\Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\exp lorer\defpas, and password will be empty again. I had some issues too, now I use only numeric values as password, no problems anymore.
No hard reset required!

Hi,
when opening the sourcecode I am missing the followig references:
JVUtils
JVGPS
I wanted to see if I can compile, the project is very interesting and I like to learn.
These files are available for compiling?
Thanks and great job

Hello
I'm having a problem with T-Mobile (US) version of HD2 (WM 6.5, WVGA).
Installation went fine and after initial config I decided to do "Options->Hide RT"
When I did that, it gave me exception:
Config.exe
UnathorizedAccessException
at System.IO.__Error.WinIOError(Int32 errorCode, String str)
at System.IO.File.Delete(String path)
at JVUtils.Utils.ForceCopyFile(String source, String copyto)
at CommonDLL.RTCommon.HideRemoteTracker()
at Config.Config.HideRemoteTracker()
....
I tried to soft-reset and rerun Config. Same problem :(
What do I do now ?
I have the same problem with my different mobile.
Anyone has solved it?
Thanks
Leo

Nice to hear you are still working on it,Joubert .. :)
What do you think..Will RT still be working on Windows Mobile 7 ?(the new windows phones 7 are coming soon)
This is the first application I want to install on my wm 7 new phone
P.S. Did you fully implemented that last command with call forwarding? Last time was not working properly...Have you found a way to remote trigger call forwarding to a "safe" number?

I don't think so.
Unfortunatelly MS killed Windows Mobile and made a new OS. And that new OS works with new politics and the same restrictions as IPhone does.
I can't access the hardware without certificates from MS. And I have to pay for it. I can't create a CAB installer and must create an account in MarketPlace. And I have to pay for it (US$ 99.00/year!). They can delete any software from MarketPlace just like Apple Store does. So, I have to pay and I don't know if I'll be able to keep my software in MarketPlace.
I don't know if it's public, but if you pay for an account in MarcketPlace, you can release unlimited payed software and only 5 freewares!
That's the new politics. The main problem is the sourcecode: WP7 is no longer compatible with WM! I got the new Visual Studio 2010 and tried to compile my sources. NOTHING works!
In last february (or march) MS presented the new OS with WP7 prototype. I had a client there and he spoke with a MS engineer. The information above came from that engineer. If someone know another information, let us know.
I knew about WP7 when I started to learn C# and Compact Framework programming, but MS never did it before: create a 'new version' incompatible with the previous one. So, I didn't think I could 'lose my time'.
Because of this I'm thinking to move to Android (IPhone never!). But I'm not sure yet. I'm waiting to see if MS will regain the lost market, because will be very hard to research everything again.

Very sad to hear these bad news...Tell me J.,will you really be porting RT to Android? I resisted untill now to switch to Android, because of my many windows mobile applications, but if you say that these wm softwares of mine will not work anymore, then I will leave windows mobile for good.. Or buy a new windows phone 7 (nice hardware) and resoft it with windows mobile 6.5 ..

I'm not sure. I wrote RT using C# (a language from MS .NET) and that language does not exists outside MS environment. If I want to move to Android or any other platform, I must rewrite everything using Java or C and I don't know both.
If I decide to rewrite the code, I will start from zero and I also don't know how that new OS works. So, I need to research everything I found for WM. And believe me, I found LOTS of useful informations...
Because of this I'll only fix the RT bugs and probably stop writting new features.

Don't stop implementing new features,please... This RT is so usefull and important to a lot of people, that I prefer to stay on windows mobile 6.5 even with future devices and still use RT and some other software that is not supported anymore.
I do not find wm 7 with many improvements, but is all just nicer UI, just looks but not technical improvements..

Hi,
a part of problem it's my fault.
I've just done a very hard format (with code) and every configuration is lost.
Now I've installed -6 version, restart mobile, accept term.of.use
when I try to hide the prg (inside the option menu), I've no more error but
the 4 colored rounding balls appear and nothing more...
after 30minutes I always have the same animation... and nothing happens.
Ps. I have a (not mine) cooked rom without RT.
(but I'd like to cook RT in rom at the end of the story)
Many tnx

I put the flag on debug mode
I click on -hide rt-
the only different is the background; it becomes black... the same rounded colored balls appear...
The phone seems to be freezed and I have to turn off and turn on my mobile (like I've done before the debug mode) and when the mobile has restarted, nothing has been created on /temp of device.

Joubert,
I have installed the latest version of RT 0.4.3.6 and everything seems to be working, however I have not yet chosen to Hide the program until final testing. I have an HTC Touch Diamond 2. I have one question and one observation to give and ask:
1) Is there anyway that we can arrange RT to reinstall and use the rt.dll set up file on any Hard Reset? I think that the Unhidden version uses the rt.dll on the storage card....am I correct and if so does this file still be used after Hiding the application or is the rt.dll moved to a secret location on the device? i'm not a cook but a frequent flasher and if you know of a way that the ROM Image file can be opened and RT copied inside then please advise.
2) If you set up the Emergency E-mail contact address but there is no GPRS or other data connection then I see a weakness in so much that the out going mail is held in the outbox and is visible to your hostage takers should they look. Whereas the sms messages seem to be sent blind and there is no trace of them on the device sms folders. Is it possible to hide the e-mail alerts from the outbox and the sent folder so that you do not give the hostage takers your emergency contact e-mail address and also show them that your phone is trying to send out messages?
I'm not sure what happens if there is no network cell coverage and if the sms wil lbe held in the outbox and also be visible to anyone to see? these are issues as in remote areas the network provider signal may come and go.
I think these are both important issues. This is a great program and i will be supporting your project.

The configdebug.txt is truncated. Can you send it again?
I've checked,
the file is completed. I've done a simple copy-paste.
the "01/01/2008 14:25:17 - SaveConfiguration: after save." is the last line.
I can try to flash another rom to verify the hide function.
Soon as possible I'll say you the results.

Ok,
with this rom, it works:
[WM 6.5.5] [Build 23563] Lightspeed XPR
with this rom, it doesn't work:
W.M. 6.5.x EVO Monster Extreme V2
but I believe many other roms have the same problem...
I don't understand why...

Joubert,
I have installed the latest version of RT 0.4.3.6 and everything seems to be working, however I have not yet chosen to Hide the program until final testing.
RT will use the file on storage card everytime you Config or reinstall RT. If you hardreset your device and reinstall RT or if you have it on your custom ROM, after the fisrt boot that file will be used to reconfigure the software automatically. There is another copy of rt.dll file in main memory to be used if someone format to SD card.
It's something I never tested. Change the sim card to an invalid one. I'll do.
I'm not sure what happens if there is no network cell coverage and if the sms wil lbe held in the outbox and also be visible to anyone to see? these are issues as in remote areas the network provider signal may come and go.
I think these are both important issues. This is a great program and i will be supporting your project.
You gave me an idea... Before send the SMS, test the line. Before send e-mail, test the data line. I'll create that tests before next version.

Joubert
I tested the SMS message by turning off my Phone service (thus simulating no network coverage) and then activated 'TopSecret' after some time i checked the SMS outbox and all other folders of the SMS and could not see any message waiting to be sent. So I can only guess that either the SMS message is not generated until there is a Network Service or that the message created withing RT itself and therefore not visible on the WinMo SMS system. Either way this is GOOD! so no chance for the Kidnapper to see anything is unusual. For now I would recomment anyone set up RT to NOT use the E-mail option so that incase there is no GPRS or WIFI connection their Emergency contact e-mail is not kept in the Outbox waiting for anyone to see it and read it.
One more suggestion / request. Please can you make two passwords that the user has to set. One will be for accessing the full range of Commands (like administrator rights) for the the RT# commands and another for basic RT# commands. My thinking here is....you set up RT to safe gaurd your phone for being stolen and you want ful laccess to all RT# commands. But if you have Kidnap situation then in your Emergency message you give the syntax of the sms to be sent also including the Basic Commands password. this way the inexperienced person sending the rt# commands will not be able to wipe your device or memory card etc. Basic commands should be all the ones for GPS, Tracking and dial history, track log etc.
Any advise on how the 'average Joe' like me can "cook" this in to their IMG files before flashing? thus protect against Hard Reset?

Hello, thank you for this great program and all your time and support!
I have a question to the TopSecret-Function. When i use it, the receiving telefon gets only a SMS with some empty lines followed by my Device-Name.
I know, i can change the Text of the Emergency-Message, but i did it and got only this Text followed by my Device-Name again.
In your Manual i have read, that there should be some automaticaly text (coordinates). But there is nothing.
When i send a SMS to my device with the "gp"-command, i get the coordinates, but not with the TopSecret-button.
When i check my command log, i see the right entries (21.10.10 16:33 gp).
Is there any possibility, to change this predifined part of this message for myself? Or can i insert commands (like gp or cellid) into the emergency-message?
Many Greetings

Yes, this default-Text was empty (but just from the beginning).
Should there be text by default? Maybe it's gone away in the current version?
Could you post the content here, please? Then i could type it in.

Joubert,
A couple of things.....I stopped setting up my E-mail address in the options section because I thought that would prevent any unsent e-mails from being stuck in the "Outbox" if there was no Cellular or wifi netwroks as per my earlier post. however when testing the latest version I now noticed that RT in "SECRET" mode does not seem to send out SMS with coordinates and the emergency message by SMS.......is this the case and by design ? I reverted back to the previous version but still the same. It appears that in SECRET mode RT only sends out information via E-mail.....can you advise if it is possible to have SECRET mode send out via sms or / and e-mail?
EDIT: After further testing today, it appears that the occassional sms is being sent out when in the SECRET mode but it is not very regular and sure to send the sms. E-mail notification is taking place every 10 Minutes as per my frequency setting in the Options. SMS = only about 1 or 2 messages were sent out over a 4-5 hours test period today.
Please can you and others Check the SMS sending function in SECRET mode to see if it is stable, as my test seem to indicate that only the occassional sms is being sent. Ofcourse this could be due to my ROM version.....as below signature.

Thanks a lot for this great software ! Small question - is there an
option (or are there any plans to implement such feature ?) to restrict
to specified list of phone numbers from which requests to Remote
Tracker could be made ? For example if request to send current GPS
position sent - if it came from phone not registered in allowed phone
list - then it's just ignored.

If you are connected to the Internet, send location for one server every x minutes, it is possible?
On the server, you can see the location via Google Maps and have support to see the locations from dates.

Just started using this super sweet app on my CDMA Touch Pro running WinMo 21916 (6.5.3?). Anyway, I didn't test every command, but here's a few bugs I noticed in V0.4.3-7:
1) rt#alarm , rt#lostpass , and rt#help all respond "Password does not match." My understanding is these commands should not require a password.
2) rt#findme responds "FTP Server was not defined." Obviously Remote Tracker is confusing the first F as an FTP request.
3) rt#cellid##password responds only with the Battery status. Maybe this only works for GSM phones? Can someone confirm if the CELLID command works for them, what Remote Tracker version they are using, and if they are on GSM or CDMA?
4) This one isn't really a bug, but the screen wakes up when Remote Tracker receives a command. Maybe it's unavoidable or maybe there's a WinMo setting or tweak to prevent this, but it would be ideal if there were no such indication of activity.
Thanks again, Joubert, for such a cool application!

...4) This one isn't really a bug, but the screen wakes up when Remote Tracker receives a command. Maybe it's unavoidable or maybe there's a WinMo setting or tweak to prevent this, but it would be ideal if there were no such indication of activity...Here's some information I found about not waking the screen before executing a RemoteTracker command. Maybe you already know all this, and I'm certainly not smart enough to understand it all, but it does seem possible:
A) ReRemind uses it's own "PowerOnBeforePlay" registry setting to enable or disable waking the screen. Source code (http://reremind.codeplex.com/sourcecontrol/list/changesets?ProjectName=reremind) is available:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=498161
B) Some related discussion, looks like these settings would be global, but I believe they could be toggled on & off:
http://www.ppczone.net/forum/showthread.php?t=23792
and
http://msdn.microsoft.com/en-us/library/aa910462.aspx
C) TouchLockPro seems to be able to toggle screen & backlight settings via the registry. Source code (http://sourceforge.net/scm/?type=svn&group_id=263475) is available.
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=444215
Good examples of all available settings are listed in this section:
http://touchlockpro.sourceforge.net/Settings.html#4.4
Hope this is useful! :)

Dear Joubert,
First of all, congratulations for this great app and all it's success.
I am trying to use it. I own a HTC Touch Diamond2 (TOPAS) and also a HTC Touch Pro2 (RHODIUM), both running different custom ROMs. I was able to install RemoteTracker in both devices without problems and I've also managed to setup all parameters without problems.
I've even tested the product by issuing some SMS commands and they are being intercepted and executed properly.
However, in both devices, when I execute the "Hide RemoteTracker" menu option, an error message is generated and the software isn't hidden as it should.
The message says something about permissions, so I am reproducing it below:
Error
----------------------------------------------------
An unexpected error has ocurred in
Config.exe.
Select Quit and then restart this
program, or select Details for more information.
----------------------------------------------------
If I click on Details, then I see the following:

It should be great if you can fix this problem, since hidding the application is one of the most meaningful features for it's anti-theft purpose.
Thanks for any support.

Hello all!
Now it's official: I moved out to Android. I bought a Samsung Galaxy with Android 2.2 and I'll start to learn how to make programs to that platform.
Making this decision was very difficult for me because I really like WM 6.5 platform and I really like RemoteTracker and the friends I made with it. I hope to see you again in Android.
I put in a balance lots of information to decide between WP7, Android or iOS and spirit of freedom won. WP7 and iOS politics are unfair in my view. I also write dedicated softwares for companies and I can't use 'stores' (apple store or marketplace) for this. I need to be free to install everywere without permission. I think lots of developers will move out to Android because of this.
Just for example: in Apple Store, I must pay for a certificate to let me develop for iPhone and install MY SOFTWARE in MY PHONE! I alson must pay to put the software in Apple Store. And they can remove my software without explanations. For me it's some kind of Russian Roulette. MarketPlace is very similar. But I need to pay US$ 150 to create an account and I can put ONLY 5 freewares. I have to charge the customers...
Using Android I don't need to put the software in Android Market. But if I want to, I pay a low cost price and I'm free to add how many softwares I want and if they will be freeware or not. For my purposes this policits fits like a glove.
Of course I can use jailbreakers, but as a developers I can't count my clients will use it.
RemoteTracker will not die right now because I have an old N3 with WM 6.1 for tests. Since my first line of code I would like to get help from other developers to create a free project. Unfortunately no serious programmer offered to help in the project. I received several grants from various people and am thankful for all, but there is nobody who can continue the project where I'm stopping.
Thank you all. My payment for this project were many compliments, many opinions and many tests, what did the RT being what it is today. I also received some donations, but these do not have much meaning as the help and support they gave me.
All the best,
Joubert

about Google Latitude, I think it is not possible.
But it would have some way to send the GPS location every minute of time or that the install command and not to stop sending data? This would spend a lot of battery?

sobre o Google Latitude, acho que não é possivel.
Mas teria alguma forma de enviar a localização do GPS a cada minuto do momento que instalasse ou desse o comando e não parasse de enviar os dados? Isso gastaria muita bateria?

what can I do? I don't want to hard reset my device.

I tried out the lock command on this. Now I cannot get rid of it no matter how many differnet variations of the unlock command I send. Every time I restart the device the lock screen is back and is difficualt to remove and partially disables the phone for a while. Has anyone else had this trouble. Can someone please help me to remove this lock screen thanks a lot.
I have tried rt2#unlock#email#password and rt and one the same syntax as the lock code and other variations to no avail.

12th April 2011, 05:31 PM
Never used the lock command, but maybe re-read the manual, paying careful attention to the syntax of commands. Maybe try RT# instead of RT2#, maybe another locking mechanism is active in addition to RT? Maybe this: rt2#[command]##1234 - will process the [command] and answer by SMS to caller using 1234 as password. Note the double #. Maybe try LOSTPASS to ensure you're using the correct password. You'll just have to get creative if nobody comes up with a clear answer.

I wish I had never tried it either, I tried it to see what it would do in the event that I needed to use it. It doesn't even properly lock the phone, by pressing the buttons I can get rid of it but now it is killing the signal on the phone and crashing the phone sometimes on startup because of an error with smslauncher.exe
I am now reading that it is very difficult to uninstall this, I might have to do my first hard reset to the phone and this might not even get rid of the app. I must have texted 50 command variations to the phone at this stage. I will have to give up eventually.
edit: Had to hard reset.

On a HTC HD2 (with stock ROM):
When I change the SIM card, the phone doesn't send out an SMS to my emergency numbers. Looking at the log file it tells me the SMSC address is unknown.
But after I reset the phone (still with the "unknown" SIM card inserted), it does send out the SMS.
Apparently, the first time the SIM card is changed, RT tries to send out an SMS before the phone has set itself up properly for the new carrier and does not retry after it fails.

Is this an abandoned project, or am I just asking in the wrong place? If so, what would be the right place to ask the developer(s) about this problem?

Yes it's an abandoned project,unfortunatelly.

So is there an alternative for us WM users? I tried MobileJustice but apart from the fact it doesn't work properly as well on a HTC HD2, it seems to be abandoned too.

Hello all!
I was very, very busy and I could not work on RemoteTracker. My apologies.
But now I'm learning Java, Eclipse and Android API to write a new RemoteTracker for that new platform.
I'm working with a new approach. I'll use a web server to receive informations from mobile devices. So, I can create an API for third parties to create their own RT versions for other platforms, including WM 6.
I'm still crawling and because of this I can't tell you how it will work because I'm not sure about the way to go.
I think I'll need beta testers in a few weeks!
All the best!

Hey guys, if like me you still use this app on a windows mobile phone and also have an android phone, you can use my RTResolver android app to convert coordinates received (via sms) from this app to a readable address.
More info here with download link: http://www.mkexchange.com/rtresolver
I made it especially for use with RemoteTracker's "gp" command, but it also works with my other program :)

Hello everyone!
I finally finished my first Android application.
If you want to see what I did, folow the thread: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?p=17287742#post17287742
It's not RemoteTracker for Android yet. I had to learn lots of stuffs and I wrote another personal project.
Remotetracker can't be written for Android exactly as I did for Windows Mobile 6. But now I can see the line I can go.
That is it. I hope someone enjoy that piece of software too ;) Any comments, please go to that thread ok?
All the best,
Joubert

Hello my friends.
After a long time I started writing RemoteTracker Android! So now it's official: the RemoteTracker available for this platform. I apologize for the delay and I know many users should already be using other applications for the same purpose, but I had personal problems in the past two years have forbidden me to code with quality.
I did a great research and noticed that there is nothing like the market. So I decided it was time to start writing.
So far I have an alpha version. The RemoteTracker is able to intercept messages (SMS and E-MAIL!) and process the commands GP, EGP, GI and EGI. But the Android platform has details that must be solved, such as the fact that the user can disable the network and GPS. In these cases the RemoteTracker still fails.
Some of the commands available for Windows Mobile can't work in Android, but others may be created.
This is the news I have for now, but as soon as possible will begin to release beta versions. Those who wish to be beta tester please contact privately.
I'll start a new thread for RemoteTracker for Android later.
All the best,
Joubert

Very good software, really.
But I am very dissapointed. Not to your, nor the XDA, but to the whole free open source community.
I know I am a begginer in programming. But I have to admit, I lost 10 months of my life, every night trying to program a open source, and I could not even work a single line of code. It is so sad that none of the codes work. None of the compile instructions are complete. There is always something else that only the most experts know. I have tried many softwares, since .Net 2003, 2005 to 2008. I could never get a code to compile using these source codes. Yours happen the same.
All you programmers have to do before posting a source, is to simple, get a pc, format, and install just like the instructions explainded, and it will not work. Only works with yout additional secret compiler customazations known to a little few. Always needs more lybraries not specified, etc...
I know you might be thinking that I am a begginer; well yes, but I am a really good technician, fix computers since 6 years old. More than 20 years in the bussiness, I can make C++ AI programs and DirectX single player games. I am programming a visual basic bussiness magagement software.
This is really my last shot at the free open source community; I don't want to give up, but I must admit, it is easier to program my own software for months from the beggining than to just simply try for months compile these free open source.
I think that by stating free open source, isto share with everyone, not to only those who know the secret additional tools.
I know you are a great guy, really has the desire to help everyone, but to you all in free open source who may ask yoursef every now and then why there are opposition to free open source, this is the reason.
Really guys, I am not stupid. But, if you can't show me how to just simple compile this code, so then I can work with it, I have nothing else to think o myself, to either call me stupid, or to complain to the open source community.
I have installations from windows since 98, XP, 2003, vista, 7, Visual Studio,
I have all that is needed, except those additional configurations none of yours seems to be willing to tell. What is the difference from this to the softwares that are not open source? Both are secret.
Don't want to loose my time decryptin a secret, but rather learning.
Show me that free open source is about sharing.

Sorry but I don't know what you are talking about.
There are no "secrets", no "extra configurations". Just use Visual Studio 2008, download the source and compile!
As I told before (please search in this thread), so, it's not secret, you will need to get DLLs from your RemoteTracker instalation and put somewhere in your computer and to the project. When you try to compile, you get that message. It's very easy to anyone familiar to VisualStudio, but you said your are learning, so, you will have hard times, like I had and I didn't get any kind of help. I had many hours of fun with that times.
Anyway, RemoteTracker Term Of Service is very clear: I don't give source code support. But as I told above, I explained several times how to compile. Please take a look in previous posts.
All the best,
Joubert
