That because the messaging application is still running before and after you changed to the normal mode...

close the messaging application using (Task Manager) or restart your device to take effects

as i said my friend it only will work 100% on WM6.1

you can use it with WM6 but it will not change from threaded to normal in SMS... Anything else will work :D

i just installed this app today. switching works well though i would suggest having only 1 button instead of 2 or disabling the the button after clicking instead (since both have icons, it gets confusing which is on).

no need to reinstall the new language because v1.0 compatible with v1.5 :D

anyway if you install it again it will show that the device will remove the pervious version and install the new one which is the same one so it will not make any difference

In my previous post I quoted part of the error message, just left out quotation marks. "application failed to load required components (support info: -2147479552)" If you really need the full text, I have to reinstall 1.5 as I am back on 1.0 now.
However, I have run into the same with other software designed for HTC devices and requiring .NET, either 2.0 or 3.5. An example is gLight 0.4.1. Maybe there is some difference in .NET handling on Omnia? All "general purpose" software (i.e. not developed specifically for HTC) work flawlessly.

Will it be possible to disable the threaded sms on the top portion of the screen when replying sms? The threaded sms at the top portion occupied too much space until the user only left only 2 lines to compose the SMS which is not very practical. :(

Program looks great, can't stand the threaded SMS as installed in 6.1, and it appears that SMS Tweaker allows you to simply turn off threaded SMS, when desired, correct?

Also, will the Tweaker program allow you to see the time the messages were sent or received (can't see this in 6.1)?

Can you start new threads with existing people, or will your thread attach itself to the last text from a contact (like 6.1).

Lastly, I see four different install files. Do I install them all, and if so, in what order? And do I install them all to the phone's main memory or to a storage card. Any help would be greatly appreciated!

Does not matter in wich order you install the files. In principle you can suffice with just the SMS Tweaker v1.5 CAB.

After installing the program you can use it to set SMS to Threaded or to Single messages in your inbox.

If the message has been received today it will show the time. If it's older than one day it will show the date. This only applies to normal SMS view!

Be sure to have your inbox closed when switching between threaded\traditional SMS ;)

Thanks for the info!! When you say normal view, are you referring to non-threaded? I do like to see the time, and not being able to see that is one of the things I do not like about the WM6.1 threaded test app.

Update to my prev post: got the program installed and running - awesome program!! Pretty much what I'd hoped it would be when I got my new phone! Being able to choose text size is huge for me, since I have the larger size chosen for the phone overall, but really did not want the larger size for texting -nice to be able to choose the smaller size for texting only, and it allows me to view a conversation the way I envisioned it would (or should). That alone is worth it

If there was a way to expand the text input box even by one line as mentioned by other posters (and add the time stamp to all texts, not just the ones from today), that would be great, but as is, it's a huge improvement! Thanks!

Edit the following:

Default height is 35. Change it to higher value.

Check with u, I am using the Samsung Omnia, installed this great app and the SMS inbox font is now bigger and more easing for my eyes. However the SMS input text font is still the same size despite increasing the font to the max, this is same for Threaded and Normal SMS. Did i missed anything?

Ok, so I downloaded PHM REg Edit program and searched for the thread_sms.htm file in the Windows folder, however the program could not locate the file. I however was able to see it in Windows, after selecting the option within the Windows Explorer to View All Files. I don't know how to edit the file though. I can't find any documentation on how to use PHM Reg Editor, so I'm not sure how to edit the file from Windows Explorer. Any suggestions?

I downloaded Total Commander, and with that program I had no problem finding and editing the line to expand the text input box. Very easy to do, and what a huge improvement it is to have a larger text box to input text in!!!! It makes the program so much better!!

This is exactly the same problem i am having, small text input. Hope this will be fixed with the next upgrade.

I have omnia and I really hate this threaded massages and the fact that I can`t create folders.....so I`m desperate for sms tweaker.....but when I install it, it says that program might not be properly shown because it`s made for former version of windows mobile....that`s odd because when I turn the device on, it says that I have WM 6.1.....and it says here on this forum that this sms tweaker 1.5 is for that version of windows.......so, when I try to open sms tweaker after it`s being installed, it says "this application requires a newer version of the microsoft.NET compact framework than the version installed on this device." Try to disable threaded SMS by modifying the registry.

[HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Inbox\Setting s]
Add a new DWORD called "SMSInboxThreadingDisabled"
Set it to "1".

i installed a latest version 1.5 to my HTC diamond on a latest ROM. when i run a program and go to Menu - Setting i´am getting an error "value does not fall within expected range" and forces me to close the app

You can by changing the system font size.
Settings > Second Tab > Screen

I'm guessing but it's in the normal settings part of the device ;)

This is the first ,what I was do...just try to find some setting in the registry,or in the windows folder,to increase font size in treated messages...in normal mode the font size are OK,but in treated mode is to small..I was edit read_style.css,font size in Windows folder,and compose_style.css too,but that is whid no changes in treated mode...

I only wanted the text size slightly larger, so under the body tag i changed font-size: from 9pt to 12pt. save the file, set it back to read only, and copy it back to \windows\ ..

Also you could change the color, font type etc... of threaded sms in this file.

Got it installed now. Great application, fixes things well in terms of being able to have normal no threaded view and shows larger fonts for recieved messages. The most irrating thing I find about messaging on windows 6.1 is the size of the font while you are typing the message. Is there no way to fix this - the font is absolutely tiny and more of a problem that reading texts that you receive because when you are typing them you tend to look at the keyboard and then what you've written and the tiny font makes this difficult.

Is there already a solution on increasing the Text Size when compose
or reply to sms? Seems like increase font size only effect on received
sms and send sms, creating new sms the text really tiny small.

My Ipaq 914c keeps reseting the threading option when I run messaging app,
I have tried other programs and manually adding the SMSThreadingInbox dword which by magically disappears.
I did stop messaging and reboot etc..
Any Ideas on this problem?

thanks for the hard work, though i have one question, does it show how many chars are in each sms when using the threaded smsing ?

threaded is great but it is annoying to know that there is a massive possibility that every message i am sending out goes only one measly char above the limit of 160 chars (to my carriers great delight im sure)

so I installed the SMS tweaker but when I open the program, it will not let me select either threaded or normal, it just says that an unexpected error has occured. message text unavailable. I have WM 6.1 also.

That because the messaging application is still running before and after you changed to the normal mode...

close the messaging application using (Task Manager) or restart your device to take effects

This doesn't work for me. I can't overwrite the file on my mobile device itself because it's set as read only system file on the mobile device. It won't allow it to be over written. How did you get this to work?

The program helped me with making bigger fonts on sms`s which I curretlny read. However if I wanted to reply on sms, text was still small.
I searched registry for "font" and... found that adress
HKLM/Software/Microsoft/Inbox/
RichEditHostFontSize <--- click on that, modify (I use "15", you can make it bigger e.g. 25 :D )
After that you don`t need to make SF. Just close your messanger, reopen it, click on sms, click reply and... you have bigger font replying on sms :)

Unfortunatelly it makes bigger font in person "To: xxxx" so after writing a sms you must hide virtual keyboard to read the message.

I really like this sofware a lot, similar to the HTC HD WM6.5 sms threads which I miss since moving to the Acer DX900 with Dual Sim.

However I cannot use it on the DX 900 as I use Sim 2 for sms and calls (Sim 1 used for Broadband Sim).

Can you include an option to choose which sim to send sms on? (default is sim 1) It will ask me to turn on sim1 if I say no it will not let me send the sms.

When using the the Windows 6.1 ACER OS you have the option after you select to send the sms on which sim to use.

Maybe you could do the same or even an an option to choose the default sim to use for sms in the options menu.

Hope you can help....may be worth the change as dual sim phones are on the rise.

but you can use normal mode fuctions for WM6
first you should install .net compact framework 3.5 :D
