According to HTC since I have an unlocked TYTN II here in the USA and NOT a Tilt there is no rom update yet for these phones only for the european countries. When I go to the e club I get a blank page that others with my version ( USA TYTN II ) get. I cant even get to the versions for Europe because they are not meant for my phone.

You can Hard SPL your device then use the Official WWE version.

I'm running the "leaked" WWE version found on Modaco a few days ago, it has the exact same version number as that now found on the HTC site (3.28.405.0) and seems in use to be the same as that described here - ie a little faster, 6.1 obviously, screen flipping is smoother/more solid but not instant, etc... is the version found on the HTC site really any different? Is it worth me going through the hassle of re-flashing what is, by all appearances, the same rom?

Ok some people think it might be hardspl thats the problem, my totally noob question is how do I change the spl to the new htc one, I have a vario 3 with hardspl to flash to the wwe update but have the same freeze issues as everyone else. Just wondered if changing the spl to the new htc would make any difference.

Also I downloaded the update from htc club by fiddling with the serial number its not just the 5th digit I tried various combinations changing the 4th, 5th and 6th digit and registred 3 kaisers htc offered me the italian, chezch and wwe versions.

I removed the new HTC 6.1 Rom I got from their web site. It was nice although some of my programs did not work. I noticed that after 2 hours of use the bluetooth settings became corrupt and could not connect BT headset until I did a HR. also the included Radio does not work for me here in Michigan with AT&T. The Tilt after being on the phone for an hour heated up so bad it was hard to hold. Then the phone stopped working and it was HR again. Maybe I should of tried another Radio but I went back to Schaps 4.31 6.0 rom. put a compatible radio back on so I will wait until I see the cooks around here do something with this new rom from HTC. Because in my humble opinion, They "HTC" blew it. Video performance is slightly better but still half of what I was looking for in other words they did nothing about the Video driver issue. GPS lock time is more dependent on the radio and where you live so that really is hard to measure but it is slower with HTC 6.1 then Schaps 4.31 6.0 rom. All and All I am glad I didn't bet on HTC and offer to eat shoe. Overall I did not care for it, I guess the driver issue not being addressed may make me more critical of the rom but so be'it. I waited a long time and really thought they were going to come through. Unless they do in some fashion address the video issue. I will think twice about going with them again. The bitch is they have always made the best devices.

It installs and works provided you have HardSPL (or equivalant) installed on the device.

1. Stick a fork in her. As far as HTC is concerned, the Kiaser is done.

2. In terms of the class action lawsuit, it won't happen. They know it. We know it. They're not scared.

3. They are going to sell millions and millions of phones whether we are miffed about the Kaiser video drivers or not. So few people will quit buying HTC products they will never notice. For every XDA enthusiast that quits buying HTC, several people will start buying them. I see too many non-nerdy people with AT&T Tilts to think otherwise.

A friend of me has bought imate ultimate 9502, before this damn ROM i was proudly expressing my tytin II as the best and his decision was rong and tytin II is better, but after few days of playing with ultimate 9502 and after this fake upgrade (really it is downgrade) i found that the only point for kaiser over 9502 is the tilting of the screen but the positive for 9502 is
- TV out
- VGA
- high sound of external speakers (i cnnot hear kaiser if i put iot on table "HTC solved it in Cruise")
- very powerfull metal case and battery cover
- a very tactile keyboard
- jogdial wheel for navigation and also two side buttons for volume adjust.

What i missing and really want to know is whether it contains the graphics driver or not, if Imate has bought the driver from Qualcom, then it really respects their customers and deserve our respect.

Yes, it is true, but Imate has designed it perfectly, it's buttons are not only small but also too near to each other, u cannot discriminate between the borders of different buttons, but amazingly, i ahve never striked an error character while writing with a reasonable speed, your fingers finds the correct letter so easy. The cause behind this is that the buttons are domed with an estimated relative highness to its diametr that let the fingers touch the correct button before reaching to the base of the keyborad. You must try it, I was not sure about that till i have tried it myself.

No obvious improvements to graphics, but they recommend you only flash your phone with this if you already are experiencing problems...

My favourite ROM brefore this was S4V.19209.01, nice clean ROM and fairly good with the battery. But that only scored 1352.

Seriously I think most of the users that come here are power users. We can convince people to stay away from HTC's devices. Specially when you show them how much you know about these devices and what kind of software you have installed on these things they'll know better to listen to you. iPhone is heating up the competition and if these blockheads at HTC don't smarten up and start providing a better customer service and a user experience, windows mobile will be history in no time. I have had quite a few windows mobile devices and considered myself a windows mobile fan, but with this kind of performance from the lead WM manufacturer you never know Apple may convince me to dump this bug riddled platform.

I don't know about you guys, but I'm pretty happy with this new ROM. No screen lock-ups, no app crashes. Skype doesn't work, but for this we should blame Skype, because there wasn't any new updates for Skype for like 9 months or so. I'm using MapKing 2007 and it works just fine, quick fix in GPS.

Prior to this official ROM, I had the leaked version installed, the leaked version had problems with screen lock-up, but with the real official version I don't have such problem.
I don’t watch video on my Kaiser so I really don’t care about video performance. I actually think I’ll stick with this ROM for quite a while, until SE X1 appears in the stores :)

I have the french rom and it works fast ! But infortunately, MioMap v.3 doesn't work with that ROM. Everything becomes unstable and the program doesn't load at all.
If i'm not mistaken, ROM cookers made special tweaks to make it work on cooked ROMs.

So the wm6.1 is a pice of sh** no video drivers , no visual improvments , and many many bugs . HTC sux . I will sell my tynt 2 .

I dont think HTC should be held resonsible for not adding visual goodies (visual improvements) to Microsofts software. They should be responsible for the videodrivers, sure. But, as my mobile works with the new ROM from the site (the swedish one). I really cant complain on it when using it as an office mobile (mail, calendar) etc etc. It might not render movies and play 3D games, but it is a business mobile, not an entertainment station like the iPhone.

SPB backup does not work if you change the ROM, and you have done a big change, from Windows Mobile 6.0 to Windows Mobile 6.1. Try to use PIM backup to keep a copy of the SMS.

You can go back to WM6.0 ROM installing this one:

and when you flash it,make a restore of your backup and then make the ""pim"" in device root (copy -past to a folder in storage card) so you can use it later in 6.1 roms easily copy past it again and replace the original(blanc) pim:)

or simply use sprite backup that is full compatible with 6.1 roms..spb backup isn't...

and when you flash it,make a restore of your backup and then make the ""pim"" in device root (copy -past to a folder in storage card) so you can use it later in 6.1 roms easily copy past it again and replace the original(blanc) pim:)

or simply use sprite backup that is full compatible with 6.1 roms..spb backup isn't...

SPB backup does not work if you change the ROM, and you have done a big change, from Windows Mobile 6.0 to Windows Mobile 6.1. Try to use PIM backup to keep a copy of the SMS.

why you didn't try my advice??

just flash the original rom and after that everything is as begining from start:)

if you can't start flashing for any problem,just put your device in bootloader mode
by pressing and holding together the on-of and camera buttons and soft reset with stylous and keep holding pressed the 2 buttons till the 3color screen appears.
connect your phone with pc and start flashing ;)

you can flash everything you want after that.( ofcourse your phone is Cid unlock ...isn't it??)

Ok some people think it might be hardspl thats the problem, my totally noob question is how do I change the spl to the new htc one, I have a vario 3 with hardspl to flash to the wwe update but have the same freeze issues as everyone else. Just wondered if changing the spl to the new htc would make any difference.

Also I downloaded the update from htc club by fiddling with the serial number its not just the 5th digit I tried various combinations changing the 4th, 5th and 6th digit and registred 3 kaisers htc offered me the italian, chezch and wwe versions.

What did you have to do to get the WWE version?

Downloaded it. Installed it. Performed a hard reset. It was running awfully slow. It would take up to 5 seconds just to turn off.
Re-flashed it again. It is now working better but still very slow. It frequently freezes and have to wait 5 to 10 seconds for it to respond.

Any ideas how to fix this? :confused:

I've played with the new ROM for a couple days now. Still very UNIMPRESSED. I'm having a hard time understanding why my generic TyTN II would have these issues:

1. I've lost 25-30MB of space. I'm now showing about 12-15MB less program memory and about 10-14MB less of storage memory than with the original ROM. In the 7 months I've had this unit, I never worried about memory. Now I'm going to have to pay attention.
2. My Today screen seems much less responsive to my finger, while the stylus seems to work about the same. Is there a setting somewhere that can fix this?
3. I see no speed improvement with videos using Media Player.
4. I see no speed improvement when opening my keyboard to switch to landscape mode.
5. Internet Explorer is nowhere near Opera Mini. The narrow vertical view in the 'Zoom In' mode still leaves you with a half-hearted browser.

PLEASE, all of you who have had different experiences then mine regarding the above points, please tell me how you did it .

Two final items:

1. Has anyone tried this 'Offical' ROM, then switched to the new TLR-21.05.08 ROM? If so, tell me what you think.
2. Is there any way to get the original WM 6.0 ROM that was installed on the TyTN II? I thought it might be on the CDs that came with the unit, but unless it's oddly named, I couldn't find it.

Called HTC today.

I'm not the only one having trouble with 6.1. They said in the next two days there will be a "new" version available.
The file we could download now is corrupt and they will upload a non corrupt version. Supposedly the file was corrupt by uploading to ftp server :D

I think they will release a patched version.

I talked about the freezes, thats the first thing he heard about, also i was the "first person" who called that did actually a rom upgrade...

I asked about the grapics driver, officiale he said : its NOT coming.
But onofficially, there is a update coming that fixes something! but he could not say what or when...

I guess I am one of those unlucky ones not to have a HTC branded TyTn II.

I downloaded the WWE from rapidshare and tried udating the ROM on my Vodafone branded TyTn II (Vodafone 1615 of which I have 3 in the house).

I have Windows Vista Business Edition on my Laptop and I whenever I try to update, I get a message saying that this update is not for my model.

Is there anyway this can be done? Not sure if the problem is Vista or my handset.

Any help will be appreciated.

Hi.

Just updated to the Danish ROM. So far somewhat satisfied, though there are still a lot of issues. One of them being, that when I use the TyTNII in landscapemode all my menus are corrupted, just showing a dash in each line, no text at all. In portrait menus works fine.
Anyone having this problem too?

If anyone is interested, yesterday I've flashed PLK ROM on my Orange TyTN II, and I'm very satisifed with that release. No freezes, good performance, radio is working great, GPS starts up quite quick. I haven't benchmarked it or compared with other results, but it "feels" fast ;)

I ran the WWE on my AT&T and have just started testing it.

I am a noob myself when it comes to tracking down ROMs and I know it is tough to tell what is going on with all the post here. I don't have time to read every post on this great forum, but I have spent some time and found that the AT&T Tilt can run WM 6.1

NOTE: To get WWE to load I did have to run the CID unlock (thanks pof) so I would not get Vendor ID error.

Here is what I did on my AT&T Tilt:

Things just get weirder and weirder with this ROM.

Here are today's adventures:

1. Decided to move the apps that I had installed to main memory because they are part of the Today screen to my SD card. I was hoping to gain program memory.
2. Uninstalled the apps. In all cases got a message saying the apps couldn't be totally uninstalled. Choose to have them removed from the list.
3. After a soft rest, discovered that ALL are still listed as installed!
4. Reinstalled all apps to the SD card. ALL installations failed (According to the message on the screen)! BUT all apps ARE installed and SEEM to be working properly.
5. In the end, I LOST PROGRAM MEMORY, but gained lots of Storage memory!

PLEASE! Certainly someone has the original ROM somewhere that I can reinstall. My mom always said "Don't try to put 3 lbs. in a 2 lb. bag." A phrase Micro$oft has obviously never heard. OH, GIVE ME GOOD OLD WM 6.0!

That's my rant for today.

Just whacked this on my Tytn II, all OK after HardSPLing it. Generally a bit faster and a few new features, so can't complain for free... :)

However, I found the signal VERY intermittent. If I wake the phone up it shows No Service, then after a few seconds it would jump to full signal for a few minutes before nothing again. I thought maybe it is a local Vodafone (UK) issue so left it for a day or two but after missing a very important call I got to fiddling. I have found that if I leave the Band settings to WCDMA or Auto the signal is crap whilst GSM works perfectly. :(

As I only use text eMail and a bit of light web use the lack of higher data rates isn't a show stopper for the time being but a fix would be appreciated.

P.S. You Muppets threatening to take your HTCs back, sell them or start legal action; grow up! Of course HTC make phones just to make money, don't think Nokia or Apple are any less "evil", that’s what businesses exist for. You don't have a "right" to drivers from HTC; you knew what you were buying when they bought it so live with it or donate to XDA-D and encourage community development.

They did that for the Herald, There was no WM6 Arabic Release for Herald, Only WWE and not available for the Middleeast users.

Got the same bug in all menus (using hard key) in ALL applications and all folder views in File Explorer AND in KasierTweak when sliding out the keyboard to view screen in landscape mode OR when using software rotation i.e. not sliding out keyboard. The result is the same.

However, I disabled ClearType in Landscape mode within KaiserTweak and the problem went away. :) Now I need to check the KaiserTweak thread to see if there's an update.

OK. I downloaded and flushed today this new Win 6.1 HTC update:
RUU_Kaiser_HTC_WWE_3.28.405.0_radio_sign_25.83.40. 02_1.65.16.25
(I had previously an original HTC ROM, UK version)
But, unfortunately, it seams to be a complete disaster. Many programs are simply not working. iGO, for example, even doesn't start. The local language support doesn't work. The phone becomes slower then before, with an original HTC ROM.

Today I checked the HTC e-Club for download for Middleeast devices and the update is not there.

I flashed the Original RUU_Kaiser_HTC_ARA_1.81.415.4_radio_sign_22.51.88. 13_1.27.15.32R2_Ship.exe which is available for Middleeast then flashed the full Official WM6.1 3.28.405.0 WWE.

It Flashed ok. !!!!!


This mean there will be no other languages WM6.1 upgrade. Only the available language versions.

The issues :
1-Freeze (which can be solve with official SPL) but really annoying to flash next cooked ROM
2-My keyboard mapping gone crazy as my Kaiser have Chinese k/board
(can fix with PREVIOUS ROM)
3-Coreplayer can't use QtV TytnII driver mode
4-I can't feel any improvement.

there are many threads (not only on this site) about how much of an upset the "official" rom is.

I haven't used an official rom other then out of the box since my magician back in the end of '02!! thats why i appreciate this forum so much and haven't bought a non-htc winmo device!

1. That is not htc's problem. you have hacked junk on your phone that interferes with official sotware releases (maybe...TBD). They sux?

2. You flashed an HTC chinese language release?

3. Qtv was a Coreplayer workaround. It was their hack that is no longer supported. It was a good solution for three months or so but is now obolete on new ROMs (hey! I bought a copy!) If you were paying attention, you would know to change video output to DirectDraw. Are you speaking to them about the absolutely horrible user interface (since you brought up Coreplayer)

4. Sober up. This will also help the blood pressure problem.

I had a problem with the Diamond V4 ROM. The camera could not display anything on screen until I took a picture. Annoying not being able to see what you are taking a picture of. Then I realized I had not tried the ROM without my stuff added. Hard reset and everything worked fine. Added my stuff back and still no problem. Don't know what it was. So in short, don't blame the ROM until you can say I flashed it correctly, and tested before installing anything. Also check the radio that installed. If you had the radio from "hell" you might have a bad experience with the new HTC ROM...

I too was not able to resist, I tried the WWE version and HardSPL for my first ROM flash. If the official asia ROM comes, I'll just try that too.

So far I have not had any freezes. Although the performance improvement is not significant, there are some areas that are faster. I also did not experience the menu problems in landscape mode.

What? The official HTC WM 6.1 ROM was released on HTC e-Club on May 23th. You can download a copy from many threads on this site.
If it does not appear on your account on e-Club maybe because you have no inserted your IMEI or there's no ROM on your local language.

As reported a few times already, not ALL Tytn II owners are eligible for an Upgrade YET. Some, like me who have an early production unit still need to wait. different IMEI numbers will required different ROM versions as hardware changes in the phone are certain.

Just to make some things clear:

1. This ROM is not in Finnish! It just has Finnish keyboard layout;

2. The first time I've flashed it, I used HardSPL before and the ROM was terrible: constant freezing, etc. So I have re-flashed it with original SPL (using sirsycho's great tutorial (http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=335568)) and the ROM is simply flying now!

3. I can confirm that using Diamond keyboard results in random key presses. So I went back to using PCM keyboard and it works just great;

4. Skype really doesn't work, using fring instead;

5. Camera still sucks, but oh well, get a real camera if you want to be a photographer :)

6. Switching to landscape mode takes up to 3 seconds, but it's done in one smooth motion rather than chopping up the view like before;

7. When I first started TomTom, it couldn't get a lock for over 5 minutes. Then I have used grusy's advise (http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=2228061&postcount=183) and configured TomTom to use other NMEA GPS receiver with 19200 GPS baud rate on COM 4. The result: first three seconds TomTom says that there's not valid GPS device, then it says it has lost signal for a couple of times and finally it locks. All in under 10 seconds and even inside the house couple meters away from the window!

I have a HTC tytn II bought in Feb 2008 here in Singapore and registered my mob online...today when i checked for any available updates the following was found in the download update section...

TyTn II_SEA_WM6.1_update...the south east asia version is out on 02/06/2008 as documented in the website..
ROM version: 3.29.707.0
ROM date: 05/07/08
Radio version: 1.65.16.25
Protocol version: 25.83.40.02H

So i assume the updates are available...will try to update tommorrow an d let u all know the results...

If you have HardSPL installed on the PDA and the ROM you are upgrading have no SPL inside, you can use the same way....

so take care of this two points...

Start reading the Kaiser Wiki, you find all info about HardSPL...

Once you get the HardSPL installed, you can downgrade your Kaiser to WM6.0 and change the radio ROM to one WM6.0 compatible.

Hmm, I think you should prepare yourself for many reading. HardSPL is base for all flashing. This is first what you have to do, after that you can put some 6.0 ROM.
I suggest you to go to Wiki and read.

I didn't know I was taking that risk when I downgraded. Probably never would have!

Anyway, I am running the latest HardSPL with a downgrade to the official Tilt ROM due to incorrectable communication setup issues with the Dutty Hybrid.

OK, I'll try to make a long story short :)

There are three main "components" in your phone:
1. SPL - think of it as BIOS for the phone;
2. Radio - think if it as drivers for your phone;
3. ROM - this is where your phone's OS "lives";

To revert from the original (shipped) WM6.1 ROM to WM6.0 ROM you have to flash SPL http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=396922

That will allow you to flash the ROM. After you do that, it is optional if you want to flash the radio and SPL too, but if you want to be 100% "legit", you'll have to follow this thread: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=335568 using the WM6.0 ROM you have installed.

Well, since radio is what controls your device, you might not see any difference if you just revert the ROM, but not the radio. Try to find the closest radio to what you had.

Also, please note that I am no expert on this issue. Other users in this forum might disagree with me.

Default keyboard does not have numbers on top. You'll have to use some custom SIP to achieve that.

Hola jcespi2005, quiero pedirte un favor compañero, mira tengo un htc tilt 8925, ya lo libere con el unlock de OLIPRO y le instale la ROM Kaiser_HTC_SPA_3.29.412.0 , pero tuve problemas con la cámara, entonces le actualize la radio a 1.65.16.25 pues aún tenia la radio parchada de OLIPRO, despúes de esto, le actualize la radio a 1.65.16.25 y y me funciona bien con la sim card de mi país Colombia, sin embargo, vi en tu foro de las ROM que estas cocinando y en muchas partes de XDA-Dev que debo hacer una actualización a la SPL pues actualmente tengo la V1.1 de Olipro y deberia tener la SPL V 3.28 , por favor explicame como lo hago en español, por favor, estuve traduciendo y hablan de que la pantalla puede quedar en blanco y no avanza y si eso sucede hay un precedimiento alternativo, pero en el promero no hallo el Jump/Soft SPL , además no se como se usa, si se usa, el archivo (Kaiser-HardSPL-3.28.nbh) que queda al descomprimir: Kaiser-HardSPL-3.28.zip ... About camera app, don't know where to get the last camera version traslated to spanish, sorry. About HTC Home, you can activate the 6th option (the music tab) with HHC.

I found that after a day or two and a few restarts my phone seemed to settle down and behave all OK with regards to the freezing.

However if I set the Network Type to Auto the signal is really random, leaning more towards none! GSM is fine and as stable as a rock though?

Well I have just upgraded mine to the WWE version 3.34.721.2 with radio 1.70.19.09 from this page:

And am pleased to say it is much faster in response times, although it does seem to take a day or two after install to settle down and for all the glitches to go. I also had to download a hotfix from HTCs web site to access the Band tab on the phone settings but most people probably won't need this.
