install the .cab file below and then copy the files inside the .zip folder to your /windows directory then soft reset


**for SMARTDIAL**
close cprog.exe with a Taskmanager and copy etphone.dll in the v.3.b smartdial.zip to /Windows then soft reset

ok my friend, i had the same problem, so the solution is as follows: before u copy the two bmp files, u need to rename the PcvDialerBkP2.bmp to PcvDialerBkP.bmp.
thats it, soft reset, and it worked for me

ooops, sorry you guys are right I changed the file name when I was drawing the graphics and I forgot to change it back, thanks for pointing it out, I fixed it now so you don't have to change anything

I got it figured. I went in and change the black dial pad with an additonal 123(so in case I want to reuse the dial pad again). Then I change the white dialpad to the same as the black one. Soft reset and done.

u are right, but the signature is for me provocative, because it has nothing to do with ppc and i was just asking me: does a peacefull religion need such a big statement ?::rolleyes:

Can you do a lighter version of this dialpad? With Touch owners (like me) 2,2 mb of device space are a lot!

To the author of t is thread... You are a genious. This is how microsoft should have made the dial pad in the first place. The key size is perfect for the majority of humans in the world. Thank you. My only suggestion is to hack the cab so you don't have to copy the graphic to the windows directory. that would make it perfect.

On my Kaiser if I open the keyboard and hide the onscreen keypad then Smart Dialing kicks in when I type on the hard keys. Try it on your Wizard.

For folks with slide-out keyboard this duality may provide the best of both worlds!

It doesn't work too good on my tilt. After a few seconds it disappears and goes back to today screen, after it makes a call it goes to today screen, and you cant hang up, you have to soft reset. Wont come back up if your press the green manual call button. Might something be interfering with it? I uninstalled the HTC dailer before i installed tho.

no its not mobile shell, the top is spb phone suite, the clock is a skinned batterystatus, the appointments are rltoday and the bottom is htc home

1) no, this is just a skin, that feature has not been added to the dialer which is made by dxc

2) see number 1

3) once uninstalled your dialer will look exactly as it did before you installed this dialer, in other words, nothing will be changed

WOrks perfect on my tilt! DOesnt look like the white dialpad picture but looks very clean and runs very smooth. Just copy and paste the zip files in the windows folder, run cab file, install on device, restart phone and ur done. No rocket science on this installation on the tilt.

i have a tilt and installed the cab file and pasted the files from the zip into the windows directory. When i try and go to the dialer it shows up as a blurred screen with an erase button. I went into the windows directory and made sure that it was renamed to PcvDialerBkP.bmp No luck. Any thoughts?

Sorry about that, i had another dialer that was interfearing with it, making it real slow and glitchy. This one works great everything you need, speed, and great functionality and easy to use. You guys should uninstall all other things that you installed that affect the dialer in some way it it will work great. I installed it to device not storage card, reset when it asked me to, then extracted 2 files to windows directory reset again and works perfect. This should be incorporated into shaps roms.

Install on my Sprint Mogul (WM 6.1, ROM 3.49.651.0) and it looks great! I Love the black theme it's awesome! However, while in mid call trying to switch back and forth bewteen the "Call Status" and "Dial Pad" screen the phone freezes, total lock up, a soft reset is required. has anyone other than me experienced this? Can anyone PLEASE HELP? Thanks in advance.

you probably should have backed up your old phone.dll, I dont have it so maybe somebody else can post it for you

I installed the DxC Dialer and the HTC Diamond Dialpad.cab
as all the way desribed in this Kaiser/Tytn II in Laurentius diamond ROM discussion : http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=393931&page=106

But I only get the numbers on the dial pad .. no letters at all as shown in the screenshots. the rest works perfect . Any idea how to get the dialer working with the letters as well ?

I really want to play with this, but, I'm a little hesitant to blow it in because I haven't seen a screenshot of what it looks like when using the smart dialing feature to find a number.

For instance, does the smart dialing work with LFF (1st letter last name, first letter first name, 2nd first letter first name)? Also, can I use my dpad to toggle different numbers and even select 'txt' to initiate a text message?

yes, I know I can blow this in and then either uninstall or INSTALL another dialer but I find as i start blowing in programs and uninstalling and reinstalling eventually over the course of weeks or months my device needs a hard reset, so I'd rather dig a little deeper first before experimenting.

So I just installed your dialer, as you described, and now suddenly I have no touchscreen! Phone works using keys and d-pad, touch flo works, but selecting anything by "touch" does nothing! I'm using the Touch Cruise. Any ideas?

I can't seem to close cprog.exe as it's not listed in the running tasks (which only shows the main programs and not OS threads). Can anyone suggest how i can close cprog.exe? Where can i find a taskmanager that can do that?

Love the skin, but could it be modified to work with the newer v3.5e version of the DxC dialer? http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=380466 I'm hitting a problem with this dialer hangs my entire phone and the v3.5e version resolves this on my Tilt. I tried using the Diamond.zip on the v3.5e version and the graphics don't quite line up right (the 3 has a problem and the bottom left icons aren't right either).

I can post an image later if you need it.

i guess not many of you people use speaker phone? try enabling speaking phone and disable it during a call.. it'll freeze the whole phone (Touch). pressing the power button to turn off display during call while having speaker phone on will also freeze the phone when you try to end the call.

all these good looking dialers are based off the same old buggy code in DxC dialer.. i prefer functionality over appearance.

Can anyone confirm whether or not this dialer will "QUICK" redial?

What i mean is, if you are on the today screen and you press "send", then "send again" will it redial the last number you talked to?

Some other iphone dialers will not do this, you have to pull up the complete dial history to redial.

This is the best dialer I have ever seen.
I had installed in my LG KS20. The screen hang up when I am making a call, press some numbers on the keypad and later press on Call Status, i need to soft reset. Is it a bug here?

I had a request, can you add in a shortcut for Speed Dial? Maybe you can share the space with the ERASE button.

I wanna install this dialpad to my Touch Cruise, but for smartdialling I have looked for a etphone.dll in windows directory (I suppose, that the new one overwrites the old one), but there is no etphone.dll in my windows directory (even after enabling to see EVERY files - ROM, hidden and so on).

My cruise is from Czech republic, vodafone CZ so I do not know, what kind of ROM i have in it (not flashed yet ;) original) without any localization.

Smartdialing is for me important, so is it strange not have etphone.dll in windows directory or is it normal and smartdialing can not be used that way while using my original ROM?

when you have to manually copy files, step 1 is to backup the originals ( i know it's a little late for this, but file it away for next time). the surefire way to get back your original dialpad, background, etc., is to hard-reset your device and reinstall your programs. a hard-reset will clear contacts, programs you installed, etc. hope you get it sorted out...

I have tried the suggest solution but it does not work. When I click on "smart dialing options" nothing happens and when I seach for a contact the phone number does not expand as it would if smart dialing was working.

For my way, I'm just "Hide Keypad" and it will show last call. And tab them. :)
Also for smartdial. You can press 5 digits and press "Hide Keypad". It will show the Smartdial.
I don't like the smartdial for first post. Because after change the number will be too small for me. Try on! friend

I have the same issue to, however I can find the file but Windows does not let me overwrite etphone.dll... Not sure what the problem here is, I though I could change the files in the windows directory before. Not sure if this is related but I cannot view the windows directory for my Vista based computer, I know I could see it before but I couldnt find it while browsing through file explorer. I can't seem to close cprog.exe as it's not listed in the running tasks (which only shows the main programs and not OS threads). Can anyone suggest how i can close cprog.exe? Where can i find a taskmanager that can do that?

You don't need a taksmanager for it. Just rename the EtPhone.dll in your windows directory to EtPhone1.dll.
After that you can copy the new EtPhone.dll file to the windowsdirectory.

Same problem with the freezing on tilt no idea why it happens (screen freezes and so do the buttons, nothing is working but the call) have to soft reset.

i have also been always a great fan of this dialer. unfortunately, one of the drawbacks is the "speakerphone" :

while in a call enable speakerphone and then toggle between keypad & call status (and use the number keys - for example , when you have to put in different digits for you bank passwords ..etc.).

up to here everything is fine. but as soon as you decide to disable the speakerphone the whole device freezes (the call goes on as normal but NO key - soft or hard - functions). the only way to get control over the phone is to SR.

i hope spencepu3 comes back and does something to fix and improve this amazing dialer.

This also appears in the DxC 3.c dialer and is a bug from switching from landscape to portrait. It does not appear to be a fuction of the skin that was in post 1.

You don't need a taksmanager for it. Just rename the EtPhone.dll in your windows directory to EtPhone1.dll.
After that you can copy the new EtPhone.dll file to the windowsdirectory.

That gives you a backup of your original, too. That is what I did, but you posted first.
By the way, until after you install the new dialer, you probably won't have an EtPhone.dll file. After you install the new dialer, it should be there, and can then be replaced with the new .dll.
